“No. It’s not going that way.” Wriggling her brows, she yanked him closer by his ass, while she crushed her mouth on his.

Val lifted her by her butt and she wrapped her legs around him. “Okay, baby.”

Adriana tried pushing him inside of her but Val had her firmly in his arms. With her back up against the tile, he tipped his head to her breast, sucking it the way she liked. Water poured off of his head and neck, cascading onto her and pooling between her legs.

“Val,” she moaned as jolts pulsed through her. She squirmed in his arms, trying to press her most sensitive spot on him, but she couldn’t reach him.

“I have it.” He rubbed her clit with his thumb while his mouth bit her other nipple. The harder he pressed, the sharper the shocks of pleasure he sent through her.

“Lord.” Adriana threw her head back and smacked it against the wall. “Ungh.”

“Oh no. Are you all right?” He laughed, then kissed her.

“Yeah. But you’re definitely a tease.”

“Uh-uh,” he murmured as he nipped her breast.

“You go too slow. You just want me to beg.” She tried lowering herself onto him, but even with one hand he had her pinned. “Fine. Please. Please. Please.”

He kept stroking her breast. “I have to be sure you are ready.”

“For real? I’m panting, for hell’s sake. How much readier am I going to get?”

Val held her waist with both hands and entered her, tentatively at first, watching her expression. Adriana was slick inside, but the water added friction to the mix, making it harder to push. With her ankles hooked tightly around the small of his back, she tilted her pelvis to give him greater access. Her channel molded to his cock quickly, as if it were a memory-foam mattress.

Their bodies slapped together as her back hit the wall. Pulling up and down with her arms, she squeezed her thighs in time with his gyrations. Circling her hips and clenching her inner muscles, she drew him in farther.

“Adriana,” Val growled, then kissed her. Their mouths possessed each other, as their bodies rested for a heartbeat or ten.

Val’s dick throbbed hotly, burning her from the inside out. When she couldn’t wait any longer, she clamped down on him with her inner muscles. He gripped her ass, driving harder and faster. She tried to keep up with him but couldn’t, so she held on as tightly as she could manage.

“More.” She swallowed water. “More.”

She was so close.

A sharp noise escaped her as her climax came in rolling waves that seemed to have no end.

“Adriana.” Val’s body shook. Pumping up and down, he didn’t stop until the last delectable tremor went through both of them.

Eventually they got dressed. Adriana
put on a bright pink lacy lingerie set, leggings, and a pink-and-black sweater with low cut neckline. Her hair was a jumble of long chocolate curls that hung down her back. Finishing the look, she put on heeled short black boots and came down the stairs.

Val launched off the couch. He was wearing dark washed jeans, a black sweater, and black boots. “Wow.” He walked toward her then took her into his arms. “You look…” He was speechless.

Adriana was pleased to an absurd degree. “Is this what you had in mind?” she teased.

“I wish I could have imagined that. But my imagination is nowhere near that good.” He claimed her mouth, lipstick and all, working their bodies into a frenzy.

“Come on.” He grabbed their jackets and they left.

The cold air outside licked her cheeks, but did nothing to chill her never-ending desire. That wouldn’t happen until much later if she was lucky, and Val never disappointed. They walked a few blocks to a busy restaurant for dinner. Most of the patrons seemed to be regulars who greeted to him. They were ushered to a corner table and the waiter took their order and came back and poured their wine. A peaceful hush settled over them as they were lost in their own thoughts.

Sipping her wine, she broke the ice. “Going back to training?”

“I think so.” Val’s eyes clouded over. “What else would I do?”

“Do you like racing?” She spoke gently, scanning his face.

“Love it.” His passion was absolute.

“You were
that
good?” She narrowed her gaze.

Closing his eyes, he nodded imperceptibly.

“Can you be competitive again?”

“Not sure.” The light faltered in his eyes. He was scared.

“Wanna know what I think?”

Val leaned in and took her hand. “Please.”

“You gotta give it your all. Every ounce of you. Zero chill. Put your head down and go for it. Not for anyone but yourself.” She tucked her bottom lip under her teeth. “Not for your father or your family. Just for you. Deeper than you’ve ever gone. If you can’t commit to that, then don’t go for it.”

Val swallowed hard.

Adriana squeezed his hand.

Val ran his thumb and forefinger over his lips. “What are you planning to do when you get home?”

“Gotta look for a job. I should get a decent severance, if I didn’t mess that up with the emails. At least six months’ salary, could be more.” Suddenly not hungry, she pushed her bread away. “That should hold me for a bit.”

“Do you want to find something similar?”

“I like advertising and the psychology of the sell. Appealing to the customer. Finding the click that gets them to buy.”

His face lit up.

“What?”

“You can do that in any business, yes?”

“I guess. What I hated was walking on eggshells with the higher-ups. All the politics and phony crap. Those people actually sit at their desks all hours of the night, playing with papers to put in ‘face time’.” She put air quotes around the word. “Just so the bosses will see them and think they’re working hard.” She played with her hair. “I don’t want to play stupid pet tricks. Probably why I’m being let go.”

“You must find a place where you can be you.”

I have. With you.
Her eyes welled with tears. She took a big gulp of water, willing them away.

Chapter 11

Back at the chalet, Adriana
climbed the stairs silently. She was packing when Val brought up a pitcher of water and a big ice cream sundae. He placed the water and ice cream down near them. “Do that later.” He sat on the bed and straddled her with his legs.

“It is later.” She broke free of him and resumed. “Why me?” Her voice was so low she wasn’t sure he heard her. “With you?”

He hugged her to him. “It could not be anyone but you.” He buried his face in her chest. His arms wrapped tightly around her. “You are the one for me.”

“But why?”

“Your light shines into me.”

Her insides lurched at his openness. She nodded and combed his hair, then rested her head on his. “But where do we go from here?”

“Stay with me.”

“I told you I have responsibilities.”

He looked up at her. “CAA, Creative Artists Agency, the biggest sports agent group, has been all over me to sign with them.”

“I know them.”

“I never had an agent. My father took care of all of that for me. They didn’t even wait until I was in the recovery room, after my first surgery in France, and they were sending flowers and hounding me to sign with them. CAA and the four other agencies even sent reps to visit me in France and New York. It has been tough. I have not had the head to figure any of it out.” He lowered his eyelids. “Papa was the businessman. He was the marketing guru. I need help. I cannot do that end of it and ski too. The business, the marketing, the agenting, the sponsorships.” He shook his head. “I don’t want to do any of that stuff.” He kissed her between her breasts then looked up, appealing to her.

She chuckled and rumpled his hair. “This is the most interesting presentation of a job offer I’ve ever received.”

“I have not even presented the offer.” He unbuttoned her shirt and took her breasts into his mouth. “With this position…” the hum of his voice tickled her, “…there are special perks.”

“Oh?”

“Very unique.” He pulled off her leggings and panties. “How could it be anyone but you? My
printsessa
.” He trailed kisses down the side of her waist to her hips. Palming her ass with both hands, he kneaded her cheeks. “Ravishing.” He dropped down on his knees, spread her legs, and took her lower lips into his mouth, suckling lightly at first but with each lap nudging in more until he found her clit.

Adriana stepped back but Val had her ass and shifted her closer, diving his tongue into her. He reached behind him and there was a tinkling sound. Then he spread her labia apart and…

“Ack, Val!” She bolted straight. He’d slipped an ice cube inside of her pussy. Her body gripped it, drew it up, melting it.

He pivoted while chuckling and dropped her back on the bed, his mouth devouring her lower lips, licking, sucking, and probing.

More ice clinking against glass.

Adriana braced herself.

Val traced the ice cube along her abdomen, up and around her nipples, and down again to her sex. Another cube slipped inside. Intense. Her scorching insides clenched around it as it thawed. His fevered tongue touched, tasted, licked first softly, then with a firmer pressure and a faster speed. Again with the ice. Dropping her head back, her climax came hard and fast.
Too fast.

She screamed as each contraction crashed through her. Thrashing from side to side, she bucked her hips forward and tangled her hands into his hair to hold on. He didn’t stop until he drank every last drop of pleasure from her.

When her body went limp, he lifted her off the bed, and placed her next to him on the black furry rug. Somewhere along the line he had stripped. She was always so observant, but with Val things got fuzzy, and time bent.

He arched his brow. “And?”

Chuckling, she ran her finger over his scars. “I want to know more about these perks.”

Val embraced her and they made love much slower.

Val plucked the cashmere throw
off the edge of the bed and wrapped it casually around them. “The ice cream sundae melted.”

Adriana stuck her finger in the bowl and ran the chocolate down his chest, licking it up. “Can’t let good chocolate go to waste.” She giggled. He pushed her onto her back.

His head was propped up in one hand as he traced circles on her abdomen. “Why did you not ask me about my scars that first night?” The fire was blazing still. “You saw them.”

“I knew they were more than physical.” Adriana played with his hair.

“How?”

“Your eyes. The way you held yourself.” She sucked his nipple, savoring the chocolate mixed with the taste of his skin. “How you were with me. I knew.” She traced the outline of his lips. “Knew you couldn’t talk about it.”

“Couldn’t?”

“Yeah,” she said softly.

Val leaned in and kissed her. Arousal twirled through her despite her exhaustion. There’d be time to sleep tomorrow and the tomorrows after that.

“Did you really know the second you met me?” It was Adriana’s turn.

“Something shifted. It was like I was suddenly wide awake. Like I had been in a fog and I could see forever, but only if I was with you.” His velvety voice made her chest squeeze even tighter. “Did you know?”

She inhaled shakily. “Yeah. When I met you, my whole body quaked and said
pay attention, this is important.
That’s never happened before. And…” She bit her bottom lip.

Val tilted his head.

She whispered softly. “I’m different with you. Because of you. I’m bolder, more courageous. I’ve never spoken up like I have with you, never done half the things we’ve done.” Her cheeks heated.

“Oh?”

Adriana brushed her lips on his forehead. “Yeah, and I’m stronger.”

“You were always strong. Always bold. Forever beautiful.” He traced a pathway from her temple, along her neckline, down, circling her breasts. Her nipples hardened begging him to touch them. Instead he made lazy eights around each breast and down around her belly button, dipping lower with each cycle.

“I’m going to miss you.” A silent tear slipped down her cheek.

“I am not going anywhere and neither are you.” Val kissed it away, covering her body with his cocooning her.

“Val,” she spoke softly. “I’ve got an apartment I just leased and a family in New York. As tempting as your offer is, I can’t just move to Colorado. I don’t know a thing about agenting. You need someone who knows what they’re doing.”

“I need you.”

“As a girlfriend, okay, we can try and figure out this long distance thing, but what do I know about repping you?”

“You will figure it out.”

“You need an expert. I’m not qualified.”

Val shook his head.

Adriana sighed. “Where would we live?”

“First, let me see if I can be competitive. That will give you time to figure the job out and then we can tackle the logistics.”

She shook her head into him, wiping her tears on his chest, and they dozed off.

They walked into Denver International
Airport around eleven the next morning. Val took Adriana’s bags to the ticket agent and handed her Adriana’s ticket and ID. The agent flirted with Val, checked Adriana’s ID, and gave it back to her. Adriana kneeled to put it back in her bag while Val and the woman chatted. Jackie would be here soon, if she wasn’t already. Adriana definitely didn’t want to see her.
