She whirled on him. “You didn’t!”
“I did. It will make an impression and be a collector’s item.”
The crowd was laughing and admiring the image, and Leo didn’t know why she had let Matthias convince her to pose for it. The other fifty images had ranged from decorous to dangerous, but this had been the only outright goofy one.
She tapped the Heart of Life around her neck, and she glared up at him. “I will find a way to exact my revenge.”
He grinned. “I look forward to it. We will have centuries for you to get your revenge.”
She paused and sighed. “It is a hilarious picture, but you know some of the vampire kings won’t like it.”
“Let them bring their complaints to me. I haven’t put down an uprising in decades.”
“Aw, I love it when you are bossy.” She grabbed his tie and pulled him down to her, kissing him wildly.
When she let him lift his head, he whispered, “Then, dearest, you love me all the time.”
“Yes, but I am sure that it will wear off to a mild affection in a few centuries.”
She stroked his cheek, and he leaned into her touch, just as he had since their first anniversary. It was one thing that time hadn’t changed, and she hoped that it never would. Leo had put him off long enough; tonight, she would cease defying eternity and let it take her into the next phase of her existence. And then, she would jump him.
Well, not as much interaction with the other books as I thought, but she met Benny and the boys.
