“Come on.” She gave a little wiggle.

“Beg.”

She turned her head to look at him. “What? No!”

“Beg me, little girl
, or you get nothing.”

She wanted to smack him. “
Fuck me! That’s the best you get. Now do it.”

His evil laugh made her grunt impatiently
. “You’re lucky you’re so fucking hot.” Teeth clamped onto her ass cheek and she squealed.

He gripped her hips, yanked her to her knees and shoved into her.
The suddenness shocked her and she cried out. The little sting of the quick entrance turned to pleasure by the second or third stroke.

Using his knees, h
e shoved her legs apart and she sunk down while he pushed all the way up inside her. She screamed when he hit her g-spot. He held it there for a moment, and she breathed hard while trying to adjust to the intense sensation.

The feeling died when he pulled out. She felt his hand reach around her hips and he parted her folds. Her breath caught in her throat then she moaned when he stroked her clit. Arching back, she yearned for his cock. Then he slapped her mound once…twice… She gasped and jerked but he held her still with his arm wrapped around her waist.

She squirmed, trying to position his erection back at her entrance.

“Be still,” he growled and she did.

He waited for what felt like eternity before pushing back into her. Deep inside, he hit that spot again the
n moved back. Forward then back, he teased her g-spot until she was so close to orgasm, she started pleading.

“Please,”
she whispered. “Please, please.”

His rhythm increased as he pumped into her over and over. The feeling
grew, heightened with each slap of his balls on her mound. She gritted her teeth, waiting to go over the edge. A sharp nip to the side of her neck sent her flying over as waves of pleasure crashed into her, making her body buck against his.

Sorin
moaned loudly and she felt him pulse inside her then rest his weight on her back. She toppled over, weak and shaking. He collapsed beside her, panting.

After a few
moments, Sorin yanked the blankets up over them and pulled her into his arms. She hadn’t realized she was covered in sweat and shivering until she was nuzzled into his warm chest.

“Fuck, woman.” He kissed her temple. “You’re
gonna wear me out once you move in.”

Her mind was so hazy she almost nodded in agreement. But she recovered her senses quickly. Move in? Wasn’t he supposed to as
k first? She sighed. Wasn’t this just like him? Assuming bastard.

“I’m not moving in,” she said.

He had the nerve to cover her mouth with his hand. “Don’t argue with me now, love. I’m enjoying the moment. There’s plenty of time for me to convince you later.”

When he moved his hand, she found herself sm
iling. His intentions were good even though he didn’t always go about them smoothly. And though he had trouble showing his feelings, she knew that deep down inside, he was beginning to love her.

He stroked his hand softly up and down her arm as they stared silently at the ceiling. Maybe he was a cocky, overbearing, barbaric werewolf, but she was beginning to love him too.

Chapter 8

Harmony watched
the men as they prepared for the battle with the vampire coven. She was under strict orders to stay in camp with promises of more love pats if she didn’t.

For three days,
Sorin had been trying to convince her to move into his cabin. Telling him she wasn’t ready would only last so long, especially when she’d spent the last three nights there, only returning to her cabin for fresh clothes and a toothbrush. Something about packing all of her belongings and filling his cabin with her things – finding space in his closet, sharing a bathroom – it just felt so…committed.

That morning, h
e’d kissed her fiercely, reminded her to stay in camp then left with the other warriors. Finally alone, she made her way to her cabin where Darla and Monica waited to grill her about Sorin. She hadn’t had girlfriends growing up so sharing about her passionate nights was a novel idea. Some advice wouldn’t hurt either.

B
efore she made it up the cabin steps, Darla burst out of the room and shoved a cell phone under her nose. “Is this phone from the vampire you killed last week?”

It looked familiar. “I think so. W
hy?”

“Look at the text!”

Harmony took the phone and read the words on the screen.

Wolf howl.
10am. NV coven here.

Nevada coven? It took a minute for her to decipher it.

“Shit,” she hissed out loud.
The Montana coven knew about the attack. And they had reinforcements.

“It’s an ambush!” Darla cried.

Harmony didn’t hesitate to bark orders. “Mathias stayed behind to protect the pack. Find him. I’m going to warn Sorin.”

It wouldn’t help anyone to panic. Though her heart pounded in her ears, she kept a clear head and formed a plan.
She ran to the ranger station, ignored the werewolf on duty and grabbed a set of keys to one of the ranger jeeps. Tires squealed as she peeled out of the parking lot and sped down the road heading to the Montana border. She dialed Sorin’s cell but voicemail picked up right away.

Fuck.
If their cell phones were off, it meant they were either close to their destination or already in combat.

She was glad she’d snuck a peek at their mission plan and knew where the coven was.
The normally hour-long trip took her forty minutes. She parked behind the three identical ranger jeeps on the side of a lonely dirt road.

As soon as she jumped outside the vehicle, the sc
ent hit her. Blood. And Sorin.

***

They’d been ambushed. Sorin didn’t know how it’d happened, but they were hugely outnumbered. The Victorian-style house sat in the isolated backwoods of some nameless town. Well, he’d name it now. We’re-fucked-ville.

It was ten fifteen in the morning – he knew because they’d planned to sneak into the house and slaughter each vampi
re as they slept. But they’d been prepared. Somehow they’d known the pack was coming.

At least two dozen vampires crawled out of the ho
use in full daylight. Someone had given them a potion to withstand the sun. Oh, joy.

Tomas
barked instructions to the team. They huddled together, surrounded on all sides but ready to fight as they protecting each other’s backs. He steadied his hand on the sword at his side. The vampires charged and Sorin fought hard, letting years of grief for his dying wolves fuel him.

The next twenty minutes were a blur of bat
tle cries, tearing flesh, and splattering blood. The stench of death tainted the air. Vampires, like werewolves, could only be killed by beheading, which made for a messy fight.

A fist hit him square in the jaw and his neck snapped to the side with an audible sound. He shook the dizzine
ss away and faced his opponent.

But a
familiar scent hit the air and he froze. Harmony?

He must’ve been hit harder than he thought.

The scent hit him again, stronger than before. His gaze darted around the battlefield, which was nothing more than a blood-soaked front yard. Panic welled in his chest.

Please, God, te
ll me I have a concussion.

Then he saw her. She fought alongside his men, dodging and striking a male vampire that looked ready to tear her apart.

What the fuck was she doing here? Anger flooded his veins and a growl tore from his throat. Without undressing he shifted to his half-man, half-wolf form, growing at least four inches taller. Hands turned into razor sharp claws, three inch long canines ripped through his gums as his jaw doubled in size. Muscles bulged and thick fur covered his body. Crouched on all fours he spanned the distance between them in one leap, slicing through the vampire’s neck as he landed.

He spun to face Harmony, his thoughts a mixture of rage and fear. Her eyes widened and she took a step bac
k. He growled and glared to convey his displeasure. With a sharp nod, he gestured up the driveway.

Get your ass out of here,
he said with his eyes. God help her if she didn’t obey him now.

***

Harmony stared at the towering beast before her. She’d seen men in their warrior forms but never so close, and never so angry. Though she knew he wouldn’t hurt her…

He
bared his teeth with a fierce snarl. She gulped. He wouldn’t hurt her, right?

H
is message was clear – get the fuck out of here. But they were still outnumbered.

“I can help,” she insisted, shamed by her shaky voice.

A vampire lunged from her left. Before she could react, Sorin jumped in the way and ripped its head off. Blood sprayed straight up into the air.

A
n army of footsteps came from behind her and she spun around. Mathias sprinted down the dirt road with at least twenty men behind him, several already shifting to their crinos form. She breathed a sigh of relief.

Sorin
grunted and jerked his head up the road again. Now that the numbers were even, she could give him peace of mind and go to safety.

She nodded, turned
away and jogged up the road. If only she could explained why she was there. This was so like her – getting in trouble for trying to do the right thing. Maybe once he calmed down, he’d listen to reason. As for promises of punishment, she wasn’t sure if she feared them or looked forward to them.

As she reached the end of the driveway, her mind was already
wandering down paths it shouldn’t have gone. She barely registered the pale body that appeared in front of her. The vampire stared at her smugly. She pivoted to run the other way when something hard clamped onto her upper arm.

A scream tore through her. It felt like thousands of needles were pricking her skin. Two vampires closed in on each side of her. She went to shift…

Nothing happened. The vampires each took an arm and started dragging her toward a black car a short distance away. In a panic, she dug her heels in. She tried to shift again but it didn’t work. It was like something was blocking her.

The arm band.
She’d heard of enchanted devices that could inhibit magic. They were only a few yards from the car. She scratched and kicked and fought with all her might but they were stronger.

Just before they forced her into the car, she screamed, “
Sorin!”

A hood came over her head, blocking her sight and dulling her scream. The last thing she heard before they slammed the car door shut was a terrifying howl that chilled her to the bone.
A small sense of calm creeped into her heart. She knew who that enraged noise belonged to and what it meant. Sorin was coming for her.

Chapter 9

Every enemy turned to look at Sorin as his enraged howl tore through the carnage. He’d never felt so… Words couldn’t even describe it.

A dozen or more vampires came at him as he fought his way toward the car that made off with his mate. He ripped through each one, his gaze on the billow of dust the car had left behind.

Slash. Fucking vampires. Kill. God help them if they hurt a single hair on her head. If he’d been injured, he wasn’t aware of it. Every kill, every vampire head that fell only fueled his anger.

By the time he cleared a path through his enemies and made it to the end of the driveway, the car was long gone. Harmo
ny’s scent lingered. Dropping onto all fours, he ran down the dirt road, following her scent. Panic set in when it slowly faded. At a fork in the road, he couldn’t tell which way they’d gone.

He let out another howl, this one a desperate plea to the gods to help him. He went left at the fork but could find n
o sign of vampires or Harmony.

Start at the beginning. There has to be a trail.

He ran back to the dirt road where he’d last had her scent. It was gone from there too.

Mate. Protect. Rational thought started to leave
. Mate gone. Kill. He paced the road. It was hard to focus, his grief was so powerful.

Vaguely
, he registered several men crowding him. He growled at them.

Sorin.”

He recognized that voice.

“You have to calm down. Shift so we can talk.”

Mathias.
Friend.

“We can find Harmony.”

He growled again. Mate. Gone. Taken.

“Calm down. Breathe through your anger. You can save her if you shift. Think rationally.”

Shift. Save her. The words cut through the haze and he took a deep breath. A few moments later, he was human.

“Are any alive?” he asked Mathias.

He shook his head.

Stabbing pain hit him in the heart and his muscles clenched and started to morph.
