Heat was pouring off Nic’s muscular body as I straddled him, our tongues intertwined as we kissed. I undid the top buttons of his dress shirt, reveling in the feel of his skin under my hands.

“Ride me,” he ordered in a raspy tone.

My hips moved, slowly at first. With my knees wedged on either side of his legs, I levered myself up and down. My pussy slid over his hardness with every swivel of my hips, making my panties impossibly wet.

“It’s been too long. I need you,” I whimpered into his ear.

“I always need you,” he growled. His hands gripped my hips, pulling me down hard against his arousal.

“I’ve been here for you to take all along.”

His fingers tightened on my hips. “Because you’re mine.”

“Yours,” I whimpered in agreement.

“Mine,” he repeated, his gaze roaming over my body. He trailed a finger down my chest, making my already sensitive breasts swell even further. They practically spilled from the cups holding them, and with a snap of his fingers at my back, my bra popped open and they sprung free. Nic slid the straps down my arms, and my nipples pebbled under his dark stare.

My body tightened when he closed his mouth over one of them. His hands held my breasts up for his mouth to feast. His fingers plucked at one nipple, while his lips wrapped around the other. They were overly sensitive from my pregnancy, and his light touch was enough to bring me close to the edge.

“Nic,” I gasped at the sensation, arching my back to give him better access.

His eyes were locked on mine as he gripped my hips and lifted me onto his desk, right where he wanted me. He slid his finger along the edge of my panties, making me shudder.

“Please,” I panted, spreading my legs as wide as I could get them in this position.

He shoved the gusset of my panties to the side and lashed my clit with his tongue. Then he slipped it between my folds, lapping at me. My head fell back, and I knotted my fingers in his hair.

“Nic,” I moaned, my body starting to tremble as waves of pleasure hit me. I was so close to coming.

“Not without me in you,” he growled, ripping my panties down my legs. Then he undid his belt and slid his zipper down. His cock sprung out, long and hard. “Take what’s yours, mia dolce.”

I slipped off the desk and onto his lap, moving down on him in one slow, downward thrust until I’d taken his length all the way inside me. Gripping his shoulders, I increased my pace, riding him hard. It didn’t take long before my orgasm was close.

“Give me your mouth.”

I tilted my head, and he forced his tongue inside. He devoured me as I writhed in his lap. When he bit my bottom lip, I froze mid-thrust.

“Do you need me to take control?” he rasped, giving my butt a light slap and making my pussy clench around him.

“Yes,” I moaned.

Nic gripped my hips and began to slam me up and down on his length. He hit me in just the right spot, sending me flying over the edge. I came hard, screaming loudly. His fingers dug into my skin as he thrust a few more times, before planting himself deep and filling me with his come. Completely sated, I sagged against him, my arms wrapped around his shoulders.

“I needed that,” I sighed against his neck.

“I did too,” he murmured. “So damn much.”

It eased some of my feminine pique, hearing him admit he’d been denying himself as much as he’d denied me. Oddly enough, it had never crossed my mind that he didn’t want me. But, it hadn’t stopped me from being a little hurt when he kept resisting my advances.

“Then maybe we should go again.”

I felt his chest shake with laughter before I heard it. “My girl is greedy.”

I tilted my head and looked up at him, giving him my best pout. “Only because you denied me for so long.”

His thumb swept across my bottom lip. “It was for your own damn good, and you know it.”

“I know why you did it,” I whispered. “But now that I’ve proven I’m more than capable of taking what you can dish out, don’t you think I’ve earned more of it?”

“Mannaggia,” he hissed. “I don’t have it in me to deny either one of us any longer.”

“Good,” I said, flashing him a smug grin.

His hands tightened on my waist, and he lifted me off his lap, rising to his feet. He carried me to the couch, gently laying me down, and following until he hovered over me. “You might have been the one to start this, but don’t for one second forget which one of us is in charge here.”

My breath caught in my chest at the hint of command in his tone. “You’re the boss.”

I’d meant it as a joke to lighten the mood, but his eyes flared with triumphant heat. “In more ways than one,” he murmured. “And it’s about time I showed you exactly what it means, me owning this tight little body of yours. This round is going to be slow and easy until I have you begging me to let you come.”

I shivered at the dark promise in his words. “Yes.”

“Get ready to cry that out a lot because I’m going to make you scream it over and over again.”

Nic followed through on his promise. We literally spent six hours making love and rediscovering each other’s bodies on the floor of his office. We just managed to clean up before Sophia’s bus was due to drop her off from school. I was barely able to stand, let alone dress myself, by the time he was done with me. Nic had to run upstairs and grab an outfit, then help me into it. He’d just finished buttoning my blouse and tucking it into my skirt when Sophia came running into his office.

“Daddy! Mommy!” she cried, making my heart swell with love. “Heidi brought pictures to school today where she was all dressed up in a really pretty white dress with flowers in her hair and in a basket. Do you know why?”

“No, why, sweetie?” I asked, brushing her hair from her face as she chattered on.

“Because she got to be a flower girl!” she squealed. “In a real wedding for her aunt.”

“A flower girl, huh?” Nic replied, flashing me a grin as he quirked an eyebrow up.

“Yes!” she answered. “It’s no fair. I want to be a flower girl and dress up like a princess, too!”

“You’ll get your chance as soon as your mommy picks a day to marry me.”

Sophia’s eyes grew round with surprised happiness. “I will?” she gasped.

“You will.”

“Can it be tomorrow?” She wanted to know. “And then I can bring pictures of me all dressed up to school to show to Heidi.”

“Tomorrow works for me,” Nic said, throwing me under the bus with Sophia.

She wrapped her arms around my legs and looked up at me with pleading eyes. “Please, Mommy.”

I knelt down and pulled her into my arms, gazing down at her adorable face. “Tomorrow’s too soon.” Her expression fell, and I rushed to make it all better. “Because we need a little bit of time to find those pretty dresses for you and me.”

“How much time?” she asked suspiciously.

She was so much like her father at that moment, I couldn’t help but smile hugely as she melted my heart. “I think we can manage it by this weekend.”

She cocked her head and narrowed her eyes. “How many days is that?”

“Five,” Nic answered for me.

“Or six,” I interjected, in case I needed until Sunday to pull everything together.

“Five is perfect!” Sophia exclaimed happily, giving each of us a hug before running towards the door. “I’m going to go tell Nonna we’re getting married this weekend.”

“Saturday it is.” Nic had a look of utter satisfaction on his face.

“You sound a little too pleased with yourself,” I muttered, crossing my arms and tapping my foot in irritation.

“Can you blame me?” he asked cockily. “I’m getting everything I want.”

“Good, that means I don’t need to get you a wedding gift.” He started to open his mouth, and I held up my hand to stop him before continuing. “And you won’t be getting me one either.”

He narrowed his eyes and stalked towards me. “I’ll buy you any damn gift I want to give you.”

“No fair!” I objected. “I can’t possibly match what you’d spend on me.”

“You don’t need to give me a wedding present, bellissima,” he murmured. “I meant it when I said I’m already getting everything I want. You as my wife and another beautiful baby.”

“You’re already giving me exactly what I want, too.” I rubbed my palm against his bearded cheek. “You as my husband, Sophia as my daughter, and a baby. The only thing which would make it even better is if I could be Sophia’s mom in the eyes of the law, too.”

“Consider it done,” he promised, crashing his mouth on mine to seal it with a kiss.

“And a kitten,” I whispered against his lips when he lifted his head.

“You want a kitten?”

“Not for me,” I giggled. “For Sophia. She told me she wanted one the very first day I met her.”

“Yet another reason why she’s lucky to have you for her mom,” he murmured, eyes lit with appreciation.

“Is that a yes for the kitten?” He answered with a bark of laughter and a nod. “Good, it needs to be white or grey and super fluffy.”

“I think that can be arranged.”

And it was... the very next day. Sophia named her Snowball. It was the perfect name for the tiny, white, fluffy kitten.

Chapter 7
Nic

“D
on, you’re the DeLuca family fucking lawyer. It’s not like you aren’t used to doing shady shit.” I gripped my cell phone so hard, I’m surprised it didn’t break. After dinner the night before, I’d made a call to the family lawyer about getting the adoption process rolling. I wanted to be able to present them to my girls as a wedding present.

We’d discussed what was needed, and I e-mailed all of the documents over. He promised to be at the courthouse first thing the next day and have all of the paperwork expedited. Having a notorious reputation and government officials in your pocket definitely paid off in times like those.

The next call was to Gianna’s parents. I worried that Livy would insist on a longer amount of time so she could put together a proper wedding. I was prepared to put my foot down and steeled myself against Gianna’s disappointment and, I shuddered, tears. I hated it when she cried. However, Livy had shrieked with glee and began babbling about all of the things they needed to get done before the big day.

Gianna looked a little overwhelmed, and I knew the gallant thing to do would have been to suffer through it with her. Alas, I was no one’s white knight and I escaped to the den with a beer and a baseball game. I felt her glare burning into my back as I left and knew I’d pay for it later.

In the morning, I headed to one of my downtown offices for meetings. Shortly after I arrived, Don called to inform me that no matter whose pockets I lined, they couldn’t complete the process without the “mother” (granting her that term was bullshit) giving permission or having her parental rights severed. I could have petitioned for the separation years ago, but I’d never really thought about it because she didn’t factor into our lives. I never expected my sweet Gianna to drop into my world and change everything. She lit up every dark space, and seeing her with Sophia, those moments made me love her even more.

They deserved to be mother and daughter in the eyes of everyone, not just in their hearts. I’d be damned if I couldn’t make it happen.

“Put Thomas on it. I don’t care what you have to do, who you have to break.
Find her.
Or you’ll be out on your ass,” I threatened, before launching the phone at the wall. The sound of it shattering didn’t make me feel any better. I didn’t have time for this shit. I had work piling up and I was a man down with Brandon on the hunt. Luckily, Antonio had been picking up some of the extra slack.

“Nic?”

Gianna’s soft voice came from the doorway to the office, and I looked up to see her staring, wide-eyed, at my broken phone.

Fuck
. She had never seen me lose my temper, and I wasn’t happy she was witnessing it now. I couldn’t say I was sorry she’d arrived, though. As usual, her presence calmed me, filling me with happiness and contentment.

“Come here, mia dolce,” I encouraged, holding out a hand to her. I was relieved to see there was no hesitancy in her step as she walked over to me. I pulled her down, so she was sitting sideways on my lap, and kissed her soundly. When I lifted my head, she had a dreamy look on her face, and I couldn’t help grinning arrogantly. The incident with the phone was apparently forgotten.

“I’m always happy to see you my beautiful girl, but what brings you down to this area?” I asked, burying my face in her neck and nuzzling, breathing in her fresh, sweet scent. I would never get enough of mia dolce, her love was an intoxicating drug and I grew more and more addicted every day.

“I’m wedding dress shopping,” she said with a hint of pink on her cheeks.

I brushed a finger over her blushing skin. “You’re so fucking beautiful, Gianna,” I whispered with awe. Sometimes, I couldn’t believe she was mine. And yet, I shouldn’t be surprised, because I would never, ever let her go.

“I love how you can be such a little temptress in the bedroom, then blush innocently at the simplest things.” I grinned and kissed her lips, before whispering, “It gets me hot.”

The bit of color suddenly flushed red as she glanced at the open door to my office. It wasn’t like when we were at home. Anyone could walk in, at any moment.

“Allegra and my mom are bringing Sophia downtown so we can look for their dresses. Then we’re going to get dinner, do you want to join us?” she asked nonchalantly.

I eyed her suspiciously and asked, “Will your father be there?”

“Um, no,” she admitted. “But—”

“No buts, bellissima.” I grimaced at the thought of dinner with four women in wedding mode. “You can give me a fashion show when you get home. I’m particularly interested in what you’ll be wearing underneath your gown.” I wiggled my eyes suggestively.

Her chin went up and she sniffed haughtily. “You don’t get to see anything until the wedding day, mister.” She narrowed her eyes and scowled at me, “And don’t try and use my daughter to talk me into it. I’ve already bribed her to keep you in the dark.”

I wanted to laugh, she was so fucking cute. But, her words reminded me of why I’d been so angry when she arrived. I debated not telling her, but she knew what kind of connections I had. If it took too long, I’d have to tell her anyway, and at that point, I’d risk her wrath for not coming clean in the first place.
