Oh God, would she? The possibility began to play out in her mind, the stranger stripping and moving into the light and…

Sebastian.

She whimpered against Asa’s cock and nodded, hearing his growl before he pulled her away from him by her hair and rolled her onto her stomach. He opened the drawer of his nightstand and she looked over her shoulder in time to see him take out a small bottle of lube. “I’m glad it’s still here,” he sighed. “Because I don’t think anything less than an act of God will keep me from trying out my part in this fantasy.”

He stroked the thick lube over his cock, grinning darkly at her expression. “Shocked now? Want me to stop? Have I finally found your limit?”

Delilah
was
shocked—not at him but at how aroused the idea of what he was about to do made her. She was a grown woman with strong sexual appetites, but being with Asa intensified everything. It was as if something had broken loose inside her, some dam holding all her desires back had cracked, and now she was drowning in sensation. In need. In him.

She spread her knees and tilted her hips, still watching over her shoulder as his face flushed and his jaw worked with restraint.

“You are fucking perfect, Delilah. And I’m weak. I can’t resist what you’re offering. I don’t even want to try.”

He knelt between her thighs and thrust his cock deep inside her wet sex with a groan. “Think about it, Del. Think about what it would be like if he joined us. The stranger in the park.” His thumb, damp with her arousal, pushed between the cheeks of her ass. “His eyes on you—fuck, you’re so tight here—his cock hard, waiting for my invitation. But he’ll only get it if he knows who you really belong to. Tell him.”

“You,” she panted. “Asa,
Oh Asa
, you.”

“Me what, dirty girl?”

“I’m yours.”

His thumb pushed all the way inside and she arched her back while he groaned. “That’s right. You
are
mine, Delilah. Your pussy, your mouth…” He slid his thumb out and then she felt the head of his cock pushing firmly against the tight muscles. “And
this
. This ass is mine too.”

Delilah opened her mouth on a silent scream as she felt him slowly stretch her. Too much. Pain. Pleasure. She couldn’t decide
what
she was feeling; only that it was too much.

“Breathe, baby,” he murmured, stroking her back with one hand, the other on her hip holding her still as he continued to fill her. “Deep breaths for me, that’s right. Let your muscles relax. I promise you can take me. Fuck Delilah, you’re gripping me so tight, taking me…and your ass is…Jesus, you were made for this.”

For him. She focused on breathing and some switch flipped in her mind. Pain
and
pleasure. Both. Deeper and richer and more intimate than anything she’d ever known.

He was inside her so deep.
“Asa.”

“That’s my girl,” he rasped, his cock dragging slowly back and forth inside her. “
Just
my girl here, aren’t you? I can tell. I’m not a jealous man but I’m not going to lie—I love knowing that. No one else has ever fucked this delectable, perfect pink ass before, have they?”

She shook her head, her hair falling in damp tangles around her face. When he hesitated, she pushed back against him, making him hiss through his clenched teeth.

“Quick study,” he breathed raggedly. “Greedy and quick. Are you ready for more now, baby? Ready to speed things up?”

“Yes,” she cried. “I’m ready.”

“Thank God.” Asa cupped her right shoulder and, his other hand still firm on her hip, started to fuck her. Really fuck her. Harder with each thrust, faster as each of them cried out the other’s name.

Tears of pleasure streamed down her cheeks as he pounded against her, filling her with enough force to rock the bed. “Do you like this, baby?”

“I
love
it.”

“I knew,” he snarled. “Knew you could take me. Knew you’d love it. I fucking love it too. I’m in you so deep, baby. Buried to the hilt in your ass and I don’t know how much longer I can hold back. Touch yourself again. Rub that sweet clit until you come for me.”

Delilah pressed her forehead into the sheet, surrounded by his scent while she did as he asked. So good. She could see it again. The park. Asa and Sebastian. Both of them focused on her. Inside her. Making her come.

“Oh God.
Asa!
” Her body quaked as her climax overtook her, stronger than it ever had. Longer. Ripping away every coherent thought and pretense of control. She was raw. Sobbing.

How would she live without this?

The thought came out of nowhere, her body still reeling when Asa shouted her name and came inside her.

When she collapsed on the bed, her limbs shaking, he pulled her into his arms. “Shh, baby, it’s okay. I’m here. I’m right here.”

He kissed her forehead. Her hair. Just holding her. Just this and it was better than any dream. Better than anything she’d ever known.

He got up for a minute then. Long enough to grab two warm, wet washcloths. One for him and one to take care of her. She shivered, and then he was holding her again.

This wasn’t a crush. And she was in trouble.

“Talk to me, Del.”

She forced a shaky laugh through her tears. “I can’t. I doubt I could remember my address or telephone number…my middle name. You broke me. Good job.”

“Any man who said he didn’t like hearing that would be lying,” he chuckled. “But you don’t have to think about that, Delilah Penelope Dean. I remember.”

She groaned. “I obviously forgot that for a reason. How do you even know it?”

He held her closer. “I am an expert in all things engines and Delilah. Two passions I will never apologize for.”

She bit her lip, unable to stop the words even though she wanted to. “You never called. Never looked me up, even when Dad stopped sending you emails and you had an excuse. If Sebastian hadn’t offered to buy the garage I might never have come back.”

“I know.”

The hand on his chest curled into a fist. “’I know’ is kind of an insufficient answer.” She took a breath. “You wanted me.”

“More than I can say.”

“You knew I wanted you.”

“I hoped.”

She made a sound of frustration. “You’re the one who said you wanted to talk, Asa. Don’t make me crazy. Why didn’t you come to Los Angeles?”

He got up again, shifting uncomfortably. Not looking at her. “I did. More than once.”

She sat up. He had? “To visit other friends or to see me?”

His blue eyes snared hers. “What do you think, Del? The first time I saw you having lunch with your sisters at an outdoor cafe. Another time I watched you meet a man outside your apartment—you were wearing an evening gown and he was in a tux. You looked radiant. Both times I stopped by to visit your father, but I asked him not to mention it.”

“I never knew.”

“I know.” He sighed, sitting down beside her, drawing her close as if he couldn’t help himself. “I’m a good man, Delilah.”

She pulled back in confusion. “I know you are.”

He shook his head. “Let me get this out. I’m a good man. A good friend. I am unbelievable with machines. Motorcycle or toaster, it really doesn’t matter, though you know which one I prefer. Over the last few years I’ve taken some business classes, made a few investments, and I’ve learned that if I wanted to, I could hold my own in that arena. I’m not bad in bed, not the jealous type and, well, kids and dogs don’t hate me, so I feel like that says something good about me too.”

He paused and she wasn’t sure where he was going.

“I’m good, but I’m not perfect. I have insecurities like every other human on the planet. I have a criminal past, no degree, and I do okay but I doubt I’ll ever be a millionaire unless I win one of those scratch-offs Angel and the Major like to bring me.”  She opened her mouth but he held up his hand. “I wouldn’t want the hassle anyway. I’m not a fan of change. I like the old bikes over the new, and when I find a favorite restaurant I will keep going until the place closes down. Some women might find that boring.”

She wasn’t one of them. “You overcame your past and you are an amazing friend. Loyal to my father. To the Major and Angel. Even to Sebastian, since you could just let him crash and burn.”

He smirked. “But it’s so much fun showing him up.”

“Don’t change the subject.” She placed her hand on his thigh. “So you didn’t come visit me, didn’t give me any indication that you’d even thought about it because…?”

“There’s no easy answer to that.” Asa hesitated. “I’ve thought about it a lot. I think I just wanted to make sure you…” He paused again, running a hand through his hair. “Did I ever tell you about my mother? She was sixteen and forced to marry her jackass of a boyfriend when he got her pregnant with me. She had no idea who she was going to be or what she wanted, but she’d been smart and she had a talent for painting. Her regrets made her bitter. Led her to one bad decision after another until she made one with fatal consequences. I was fourteen.”

Delilah frowned. “You never told me.”

“It’s not something I like to talk about.”

“I understand.”

“I
know
you do.”

“It’s a little different for me.” Delilah insisted. “My mother wasn’t sixteen or forced to get married. She wasn’t bitter because life beat her down. She was just selfish. She always wanted whatever it was she didn’t have. At least yours had an excuse.”

She paused, wondering how they’d gotten on the topic of mothers when she’d asked why he hadn’t come to see her. “Is
that
why? Did you stay away because you thought I was anything like Valerie? After what Dad went through? Did you think I was someone who couldn’t be satisfied with a mechanic?”

“No, damn it,
no
—this isn’t coming out right.”

“I hope not.” She needed space. She stood and walked around gathering her clothes from the floor. Her underwear was destroyed, so she slipped into her jeans without them. “Look, it doesn’t matter. It was a stupid question. You had your reasons for staying away, just like I did. And now…well now either you or your buddy Sebastian will buy the garage and all my reasons for coming back will be…”

She couldn’t finish. She was trying to sound casual. Let him off the hook. She wasn’t one of those women who spent the night having mind-blowing sex with the only man they’d ever loved and then expected a happily ever after.

Loved.
Her hands covered her mouth as the realization struck her.

“Delilah?”

She shook her head. “I saw the old service truck in the parking lot. Does it still run?”

“What?” Asa looked confused. “Of course it does. Delilah what—”

“I need the keys.” She pulled her top over her head and grabbed her bra, shoving it in the pocket of her jacket as she slipped it on. “Give me the keys, Asa. I’m fine I just need to get back to the hotel.”

And she couldn’t imagine getting back on his bike. Not now, not after everything they’d just done.

“Delilah stop.” Asa took her shoulders in his hands and held her still. “This is crazy. This is not something we’re doing.”

“It’s not? Because it kind of feels like we’re doing it.”

He shook his head. “I need to explain what I meant.”

“And
I
need a break from the explaining, Asa. This isn’t a rejection—sometimes these things just happen. You’re grown up enough to understand that, right?”

His head jerked backwards as though she’d hit him and he let her go. God, she was a bitch. Why had she said that? Repeated, word for word what he’d said to her the night he’d broken her seventeen-year-old heart.

He walked over to his pants and pulled out a set of keys, tugging one off its loop and holding it out for her without a word.

“Asa, I’m sorry.” She wasn’t sure how this had happened. A few minutes ago she’d felt closer to him than she ever had to anyone, and now it felt like everything was shattering around them. It had only been one night. Eleven years of waiting and all they’d gotten was one night. “I didn’t mean to say that.”

“It’s okay, Del.” His rough voice was subdued. “I know.”

She took the keys and walked to the hatch. “I’m not sorry about tonight.” Just the way it ended.

“I know, Delilah. Drive safe.”

She made it to the truck and onto the 101 before she started to cry.

Chapter Five

She drove toward Sausalito the next morning, listening to Drew and Darcy chatting to each other on their three-way phone call while trying to follow the GPS instructions to Sebastian’s house.

Usually hearing their lighthearted gossip was enough to comfort her when she was away from home, but now it just made her want to cry again. Fortunately, her well had run dry at around three o’clock in the morning.

“So when are you going to answer our questions?” Drew sniffed.

“Yeah,” her youngest sister laughed. “Spill it, woman. Inquiring minds and all.”

Had she missed something? “What questions?”

Drew made a tsking sound. “Is Sebastian Kosta as attractive as he was last year? Is he willing to model for DD4 ads in exchange for selling him the garage? And has he fallen in love with you yet?”

“He’s still very attractive. I don’t think so and I only met him for five minutes, so probably not.”

“Do you hear that, Drew?”

“I do, Darcy.”

“What?” Delilah demanded. “What do you hear? I didn’t say anything.”

“Exactly,” Drew responded. “You haven’t said a single word about him.”

“Sebastian? I just told you he was still attractive. When I meet him for breakfast, I can take a picture as evidence if you like.”

“Please do. But that isn’t who we’re talking about. You haven’t said a word about Asa Wilder, which is weird since you used to talk about him all the time and he’s
also
trying to buy the garage.” Darcy sounded far too perky. Delilah wasn’t in the mood for perky.

“He’s still attractive too.” And irresistible. And frustrating. “Happy now?”

“Hon?” Drew had stopped teasing. “What’s going on?”

“Honestly? I don’t know.” She sighed. “I don’t know why either one of them wants to buy us out at this point. I don’t know why I’m here.”
