His hair shot out in a vibrant deep red color.  His eyes glowed eerily white, illuminating the cabin.  His wings seemed larger and more menacing than ever.  Even his skin was different; he was covered in some type of spikey blue armor.

Animal heads and plaques fell to the floor as Anthony roared in anger.  It felt as though the entire Earth shook.  The agents looked to one another as Anthony beat his menacing wings.  They all took aim and unloaded their weapons.

Anthony threw his head back and bellowed loudly like a banshee.  He breathed deeper and faster as he tightly clenched his fists.  The cabin rattled and the wooden walls started to splinter.  It was like an earthquake, threatening to demolish the entire mountain.

Anthony could feel it all.  He felt connected to everything and everyone.  Like he could feel his friend’s life line, like he could stop the Earth from spinning if he chose.  Every molecule, every fiber of his being shot to life, teeming with power.

It was overwhelming, the surge of energy emanating from him.  He couldn’t contain himself; it was too much.  He looked down at his hands as they jolted and snapped open.  The agents surrounding him were sent flying in every direction.  He heard a scream somewhere in the distance and then everything went dark.

REVELATIONS

Anthony awoke to find himself lying on a cold, cement floor.  He slowly opened his eyes but only one moved, the other was swollen shut.  His mouth was dry and the taste of blood and sweat lingered on his tongue.  He tried to stand, but a heavy chain was attached to his leg pulling him back to the ground.

He screamed for Mikey and Mit, but his voice was barely audible.  He cleared his throat and yelled again, then waited for a reply that never came.  A cold, stark silence filled the dark little room he was confined to.

Anthony felt disorientated and there was a loud buzzing in his ear.  He squinted through his good eye trying to focus, but there was hardly any light in the room.  His head swarmed and he dropped back onto the floor.

He laid there for an hour or so, his body pulsing with pain.  From the sharp tinge that accompanied each breath, he gathered that his ribs were broken.  Air filled his chest with a shallow gurgling noise that sounded like a punctured lung.  He wondered if he was dying, he welcomed it.

He could hear faint screams off in the distance, but those were the least of his concerns.  He didn’t know where he was, his friends were missing and he was sure he needed serious medical attention.

He coughed and spit blood out onto the floor.  He reached down, tugging agitatedly at the cold chain on his leg.  It scraped loudly against the cement each time he shifted his weight.

There was a sudden bang at the door and a slit in the bottom opened up.  Someone slid a tray of what looked like cat food in and then shut the narrow opening.  Anthony glanced at the tray and pulled harder on the chain.

An hour or so later there was another loud bang and the door flew open.  Anthony craned his neck and slowly looked up.  Three men in white medical outfits were standing at the door.  Another man in military gear walked over and kicked Anthony hard in the ribs.

“Morning.”  He spat.

Then the man reached down and unlocked his chains.  He grabbed Anthony by the arms and dragged him down a dark hallway into another room with a medical operating table.

The man strapped his hands and legs down with a heavy metal band.  A large, leather strap was wrapped around his waist.  Anthony looked up into a bright overhead light and several masked men stared down on him like he was some bizarre oddity.  A nervous looking lady rushed in and grabbed his arm, jabbing at it with an IV.  She missed several times and when she finally hit a vein she quickly scurried back out into the hallway.

Whatever was in the IV made Anthony sick immediately.  His head swam as a stream of vomit spewed down the front of his shirt.  His vision blurred and everything he saw doubled.  He heaved and gagged, convulsing against the straps that held him to the table.

He was slowly losing consciousness and could feel hands tugging and poking at him.  The loud buzzing of a circular saw was the last thing he heard before everything went completely black.

Anthony came to as he was being dragged back to his cell.  Two heavy set men dressed in military uniforms tossed him to the floor and chained his leg back to the loop on the ground.

“Same time tomorrow,” one of the men laughed as he kicked him in the back.

Anthony lay with his face flat against the filthy ice-like floor for hours.  Tears dripped down his cheeks flowing to the cement like a river of pain.  He raised his head and looked to the wall.  He noticed that something had been etched into the stone.  Scampering closer, he ran his fingers across the jagged letters.  With his face almost flush against the wall he squinted and mumbled the words, “
Carol Belanovak was here
.”
