She grinned down at him and then tried to concentrate on her breakfast.

John began kissing the warm satin skin on her thighs and she felt him opening her shapely legs even wider as his gentle fingers started to rub her aroused clitoris.

Ruth bit down on her bottom lip as she squirmed slightly in her chair. She tried her best to look normal to anyone watching her, and not like a girl with a man’s tongue darting across her clitoris. She gasped as she felt his tongue starting to lick her apex quickly and she pushed herself into him so she was grinding against his face.

His tongue licked her faster and faster as she pushed down on to it and squirmed against the hardness of the chair. She groaned and covered the noise up by coughing loudly.

John put his hands underneath her curvy ass on the chair and held her tightly as he licked her harder and faster, while pushing a finger inside her wetness. Her climax washed over her and she pretended to cough again as her juices flooded out and she shuddered on the hard chair.

“Are you okay would you like some water?” the waitress asked, giving Ruth a worried look as she stopped at her table.

“No, thank you. I’m just a little out of breath from coughing that’s all,” Ruth lied as heat flushed across her face. Her eyes darted to look under the table to see John, but he had vanished yet again.

She finished her, now cold breakfast, and stood up on shaky legs. That was the first time she’d ever experienced a climax while eating breakfast, let alone, the first time in a public place. Ruth hoped it wouldn’t be the last.

As she was walking back to her cabin, John appeared in front of her making her jump. “You need to whistle or something before you just appear like that,” she laughed as he lowered his head and kissed her gently on the mouth.

“So did you enjoy your breakfast?” he asked with a wink.

“Yes, thank you,” she grinned back at him. “Tell me something John are you sure other people can’t see you?” She wanted to be sure no one else had witnessed her breakfast episode earlier. As erotic as it would be, she liked keeping John to herself.

“Nope, only the person I trust with my apparition, as I explained to you before, it takes me a little while to trust normally. With you, it was very unique as you actually radiate an incredibly positive aura. I felt comfortable with you from the start,” he answered as he walked slightly in front of her while holding her hand.

“Is that why you were mischievous?” she asked thinking how odd she must look walking along with her hand outstretched holding nothing and talking to herself.

“Yes. I was playing to see how you’d react, and you reacted perfectly, sweet Ruth,” he said as he squeezed her hand tightly.

“So, will you be with me until I reach Seattle tomorrow?” she asked hoping his answer would be the one she was waiting for.

“Yes, if you want me to be, then I shall be. I cannot leave the Empire Builder train. This is my home so to speak. This is the first time I’ve ever met anyone I can talk to and be close with. Most people are too scared of me,” he replied with a sad tone to his voice.

She thought about his response and replied, “So you’ve tried to appear to people before?”

“No, I’ve never got as far as showing myself to anyone prior to you. I’ve learnt from other spirits about appearing and how you can radiate warmth and become more real. There are several of us left behind Ruth who have never found solace in wanting to pass over,” he answered as he stopped walking and turned to face her. She noticed tears gently rolling down his handsome face.

Ruth reached up and tenderly wiped his tears away from his soft skin. “I wish I could help, John. I hate that you’re like this and so wish you were real.”

He smiled down at her and she looked into his dark blue eyes. “So do I, sweet Ruth, but I guess we don’t always get what we wish for. I wish you could stay here with me but I know that you can’t.”

She stood on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek whispering, “I wish I could be with you, John. You’re the first guy that I’ve liked and trusted for a very long time and you’re not even real, if you know what I mean.”

Ruth immediately felt bad for saying those last words as they sounded harsh even to her ears. He might be a ghost, but he was real enough for her. Their sexual encounters had been the most real and intense of anything she’d experienced before.

They made it back to her cabin where they laughed and joked the day away. John stayed with her all day, they watched TV, and he lovingly brushed her long hair, and massaged her back. Most of the day was spent simply holding each other close and relishing the company.

Ruth called her mom who immediately noticed the fact, as only mom’s do, that her daughter had met someone. Ruth tried to explain that it was a complicated situation and not straightforward. This statement led to her mom jumping to the conclusion that he must be married. Ruth changed the topic of conversation and it was left there.

The day passed by too quickly for Ruth’s liking and she began dreading her forthcoming departure from the Empire Builder the following morning. She’d had more fun in the two short days than she’d had in her lifetime. She knew John couldn’t leave the train with her, so she’d be leaving him behind and that truly depressed her. She’d like nothing more than to introduce him to her family and share a normal happy relationship with him.

“Hey why the serious face?” he asked as they sat back on her bed watching TV.

She stared into his dark blue eyes as he played with her hair. “Sorry, I was just thinking about tomorrow and leaving you.”

“Don’t, Ruth. Please let’s just enjoy the here and now,” he said as he cupped her face in his strong hands.

“Are you going to vanish again on me, John?” she asked as she wrapped an arm around him as though she hoped her arm would stop him from disappearing.

“No, I’m here to stay for the day. I’ve gotten used to staying now. It takes practice there’s an art to it, Ruth. You can’t just turn up and automatically stay here. Sometimes you’ve got to leave even if you don’t want to,” he explained as he held the arm she’d wrapped around his hard body.

“I don’t understand, John,” she replied trying her best to comprehend what he was talking about.

“It’s like you’re pulled back, Ruth. You feel as though you’re beginning to fade but not in the literal sense of the word. You don’t visibly start fading. You simply feel that you can’t remain here any longer,” he said quietly. “But I don’t feel that at all today. It’s like I’ve been granted a stay of returning and have been left alone to be with you.”

Ruth didn’t care what the reasoning was behind him staying around for longer, she was just grateful that he was with her. She tried her hardest to follow his advice and enjoy the here and now. It was difficult, but eventually she relaxed in the knowledge that he’d be hanging around with her for the day.

He was such easy company. There were no pretenses with him. Literally what you saw was what you got. He was a refreshing change for Ruth. A breath of fresh air. Her relationship with her husband had always been a fraught one, because he was a fan of mind games, which soon turned to trying to involve Ruth in them.

She was never able to relax with him as she always had the feeling that he was trying to outsmart her. He’d worked as a lawyer and, according to him she was simply a florist.

John was so different. Ruth wondered what he’d been like when he’d been in the real world. She imagined he’d been popular and especially so with the girls. She wondered if she were his normal type of girl, or had he chosen her to befriend because everyone else had been too scared to talk to him. She doubted if she’d get the opportunity to find the answers to her questions but they weren’t really that important.

If she’d had longer with him, perhaps they’d have talked more and discovered things about each other’s pasts. But in a way, it was somewhat nice to not go there with John. Their relationship, however short, was unique.

“Hey, know what I like to do when I’m bored?” John whispered in her ear.

“What? Tell me,” she felt like an excited schoolgirl every time he spoke to her.

“I like to subtly frighten people. Not terrify them, but just make them feel nervous,” he chuckled as he stood up and held out his hand to her. She took it and he helped her to her feet.

He pulled her toward the cabin’s door and they went out into the corridor, “Wait here by the door,” he said as he made his way down the other end of the long corridor. A young couple was walking toward Ruth, sharing a private joke and laughing.

Ruth watched them approaching, and then saw John brush the girl’s face with his fingers from behind her, she spun around, but obviously couldn’t see John. She spoke to the guy with her and Ruth saw him shaking his head.

John stood between them and kissed the guy on his cheek, making Ruth burst into hysterical laughter. The guy apparently thought his girlfriend had kissed him, and in turn, kissed her tenderly on her cheek. The girl blushed and they walked by happily joking with each other.

Ruth thought John’s gesture was so sweet that when he returned she threw her arms around him and kissed him.

“Well that didn’t make them nervous at all,” she laughed.

“No. You’re quite right it didn’t. They were just too sweet to make nervous,” he smiled at her. “But do you see what fun you can have being a ghost? It’s not all doom and gloom that’s for sure.”

God he was amazing and Ruth had never known anyone like him before. John was so optimistic and positive. He’d been dealt a rough hand in his short life, and yet here he was making the most out of his situation. There weren’t many people that could see the bright side of what he had now, but he could and to Ruth he was amazing.

There was a young boy walking up the corridor with his mom and John winked at Ruth and then ran behind the boy and tickled him. The boy started cackling uncontrollably and wriggling around. His mom just thought he was happy and enjoying the motion of the train. She hugged him close and smiled down at him. Ruth thought John was so sweet and so funny.

She’d laughed more with him in their short time together than the whole of her marriage. Oh, why couldn’t she have met him earlier when he was alive? Was this some cruel twist of fate to introduce them after he’d already left this world?

Ruth didn’t care what she looked like to the other passengers on board the train. She talked animatedly to John and hugged him throughout the corridors. She was surprised, however, that she wasn’t removed and taken away for hospital admittance!

The day passed in a blur of laughter and happiness for them both and after dinner, they even enjoyed a slow dance in Ruth’s cabin. She downloaded one of her favorite songs on her cell phone and played it for John. It was
Lady in Red
by Chris De Burgh. John held her close as they moved in time to the music. Neither of them had much experience slow dancing and for the most part, they fumbled around the small cabin. It was fun and in the end, they both collapsed on to the soft bed in fits of laughter.

“You’ve not done that much have you?” John laughed.

“How did you guess?” Ruth giggled as she stared across at him lying on the bed with his dark blue eyes twinkling at her. She knew she was falling for him in a big way, but she also knew it was an impossible love and could go nowhere.

“Soon you’ll be leaving me, sweet Ruth,” John said sadly.

She looked at him and whispered, “Leaving you in person maybe but not in my heart. You’ll always be carried there, John, always.” She kissed his cheek lightly and he smiled at her.

“You’ll forget me once you leave the train,” he mumbled.

“Never! I’m hurt that you think I could be that shallow,” she replied knowing that she’d never forget him. Her time with him had been unique and beautiful. It was an experience she knew she’d never repeat again in her lifetime.

“I’m sorry the last thing I wanted to do was hurt you,” he whispered in her ear as he kissed her soft lips while seeking out her mouth with his moist and eager tongue.

She kissed him back passionately, holding his head and drawing him in closer to her. John groaned softly as she ran her fingers through his short brown hair. She climbed on top of him while he lay on the bed. Sitting astride him, she bent down and kissed him again quickly finding his mouth with her now impatient tongue.

She’d actually forgotten she wasn’t wearing any panties. As she sat on top of him, she could feel his hardness through his black jeans pushing against her aroused and damp entrance. Ruth rubbed herself up and down his protruding bulge and he moaned loudly. She kissed his lips harder and whispered in his ear; “I want to feel you inside me.”

John groaned even louder at her inviting words and pushed himself up against her wetness while he reached up and started to unbutton her blouse. Ruth ran her hands over his tee shirt clad hard chest and he lifted his arms up.

Ruth pulled his top off over his muscular shoulders and stared down at his stunningly toned six-pack. She lowered her head and kissed the warm muscles of his chest. Her hands dropped to the belt of his jeans. As she started to undo it, he removed her shirt to reveal her naked, bouncing breasts with their quivering rose-colored tips standing proud.

Ruth lifted her curvaceous hips up so he could pull his jeans and boxers down over his own hips. He shook them off his legs and feet while caressing her breasts softly.
