Calm the fuck down, Drake. She’s just a chick
.

What was it about this girl?

She drove me crazy, but I wanted to protect her.

I hated her questions, her staring, and her weird looks, but I wanted to fuck the shit out of her?

I didn’t like much about her, but it was hard not to wonder why she’d always been so nice to me. Why even in the fifth grade, she defended me, when she hardly even knew me.

And now, she’d blossomed just enough. Perfect sized tits, a great ass, and hair long enough to pull if I wanted to fuck her doggy-style.

Fuck.

I rubbed my face as we stepped into the kitchen. I had to get that kind of idea out of my head. I didn’t need a girl like her in my life.

She wouldn’t understand my lifestyle.

She wouldn’t fit.

She wouldn’t like what I had to do in order to survive.

Meeting at the counter, Jenny finally released my hand and walked to the fridge. She opened the door and pulled out a bottle of water. I laughed as she dangled it in the air, walking towards me with a funny grin.

“Here’s your water, sir.” She handed it to me and I gratefully accepted it.

“Thanks.”

I found an empty spot against the pale yellow wall and pressed my back against it. She stepped to my side, leaning with me and folding her arms. For a while, it was silent between us.

We watched a few people play beer pong at the dining table, while others raced to finish their cups of alcohol, gasping for air like fools once their cups were empty, and then going for refills.

There seemed to be an oversupply of beer. “Who got all this beer for your friend?”

“Oh.” She looked around. “Some people brought their own. But that douche that you guys just tried to pummel—” she pointed back, as if he were still around “—he got the keg for her. She had to resort to asking him since her brother wasn’t able to.”

“College kid?”

“Yeah.”

“Figures.” I opened the water. “Thinks he’s a big shot hanging with fucking high schoolers.”

Jenny laughed, her eyes sparkling. “Right! I’ve told Kylie he kind of freaks me out, but she was happy with him so I only mentioned it once.”

I smirked and then spotted Otto walking into the kitchen with his arm slung over a blonde’s shoulder. It wasn’t the same girl he was just murmuring to when we first got here.

I shook my head, and moments later he looked up, right at me and Jenny. A slow, sneaky smile snaked across his lips. “Oh, fuck.”

“What?” Jenny whipped her head to look at Otto, who was now coming in our direction. His smile was sly, his eyes going into that recognizable mischievous squint. The blonde trailed behind him, and when he got close enough, he stepped right up to Jenny, looked down at her, and grinned.

“So you’re the lucky girl,” he said in sarcastic awe.

“Stop,” I grumbled.
Fucker
. I wasn’t up for his games. Not tonight.

“What? I just want to introduce myself.” He twisted his baseball cap around, the bill of the hat now behind him. “If you don’t already know, I’m Otto Davenport and of course, I’m hotter than this lover boy here.” He pointed a thumb at me, but kept his eyes on her. “And my twin.”

“You have a twin?” the blonde asked.

Otto frowned down at her, taking a step away. “You don’t fucking listen do you? That was the second fact I told you.”

“Sorry,” she chortled, pushing into his side. “I wasn’t listening.”

“No?” He raised both eyebrows. “Well, listen to this…” Otto faced her and I shook my head, trying hard not to laugh.

I already knew what card he was about to pull. He was an attention whore. He hated repeating himself. He figured if a girl were really into him, she’d remember everything he said. He had some serious issues when it came to females.

Leaning forward with his lips to her ear, he quietly murmured, “You should get lost. My dick craves attention and if you can’t remember something as simple as me having a twin, I’m sure you don’t remember me telling you exactly how I like my dick being sucked. You remember?”

The blonde’s face straightened. “Um…”

“Didn’t think so.” Otto turned his back to her.

Her forehead crumpled and she gasped, mildly snapping out of her drunken stupor. “Wait…are you serious right now?”

“Is the moon blue?”

She frowned, her confusion just as clear as mine, and even Jenny’s. “Um… no?”

Otto straightened his back, thought on the question he asked her, and then waved a hand, dismissing her and the stupid question. “You know what? Who cares? Just get the hell out of my face!”

The girl laughed way too hard as she spun around. When she was gone, slipping back onto the dance floor as if her feelings were far from hurt, Otto looked at us again, crossed his arms, and then busted out laughing.

“See,” he wheezed, clapping Jenny’s shoulder, “you gotta pretend you’re dumber than blondes when you don’t want them to lay you. No one wants someone that’s dumber than a dumbass.”

Jenny giggled, covering her mouth like a child laughing during a church service. My head moved left to right in disapproval. “You’re terrible, man.”

“Hey, it worked didn’t it? Anyway, we gotta get outta here dude. So get yourself a quick dance so we can bounce. Gotta be there thirty minutes early, remember?”

I side-eyed Jenny. She was looking between Otto and me, but there was no trace of perplexity on her face. She knew what this was about. She probably knew all about me and what I did every Wednesday and Friday night.

Why I was trying to hide my truths, I don’t know. Perhaps it was because I wanted her to only see my good side—never my bad. A girl like her, someone so inquisitive and harmless, deserved the good side of me.

I hated showing it, but for her… well, I didn’t mind. It’d been that way since fifth grade, after all.

“We should all dance!” Jenny exclaimed.

Otto nodded.

I frowned.

“Not dancing,” I muttered.

“Oh, come on!” Jenny’s thin frame bounced in front of me, and she gripped my hands. “Just one quick dance and then I will let you go. I swear.”

“No,” I muttered, avoiding her eyes.

“Look! Your cousins are dancing!” She pointed towards Otto who had just made his way towards the crowd, plucking a random girl off the wall, and then Wildcard, who was grooving with Kylie. “You don’t want to look like the lame one, do you?” She squinted her eyes. She was provoking me now and frankly, I didn’t like it.

“I already know I’m not the lame one. I’d beat their asses any day.”

“Sheesh.” She struggled between putting on a frown and a smile. “Why are you guys so competitive?”

I chuckled. “It’s just our family. Born that way. To win.”

“I see.” She studied me for a brief moment, the way I sort of lit up as I spoke about winning.
Shit
. I was revealing too much about myself. I quickly concealed my emotions, my eyes sliding down to the marble floor.

She continued to hold my hands, those doe eyes pleading for me to join her in just one dance when I looked up again.

Fuck.

That look.

She had me and she didn’t even know it.

“You aren’t gonna let me go until we dance, huh?”

“Nope.” Her lips popped with the p.

Sighing, I pushed off the wall, knowing what I had to do in order to satisfy her. This girl was relentless. I knew I’d never hear the end of it from Otto and Oscar either, so I challenged myself in a way I’d never done before.

I held her hand tight, walked out of the kitchen, and pushed through the thickening crowd until we were close to an empty spot on the wall.

Spinning her around, I brought her in front of me, gripped her waist, and planted her perfect ass on my crotch. A gasp slipped out of her and she glanced over her shoulder. Gooseflesh crawled up the back of her neck.

Pressing my chest to her back, I started to move, and she did the same. She was nervous at first; I could tell by how stiff she was.

“Loosen up, Snoop,” I whispered in her ear. “You wanted this dance, right?”

A smile tickled the corners of her mouth, but she said nothing. She relaxed the tension in her shoulders and back, bringing her arms up and hooking them around the back of my neck.

My cock pulsed in my jeans as she rubbed against the fabric, rotating her ass in small, full circles. I tried hard not to shudder from the grind—tried even harder not to rip her fucking clothes off and fuck her against the very wall my back was pressed against.

Sighing, she dipped low, then brought herself back up again, proving she’d done this before. And she didn’t party? Who was she kidding? Without much thought, I pressed my mouth to the bend of her neck, breathing in the sweet strawberry scent that lingered on her skin.

Her hair smelled good, like citrus. My hands had no fucking idea what to do, so I kept them on her hips, doing my best to avoid bringing them up to cup her perky tits.

“Why do they call you Doomsday?” she asked, hips still working.

“Why do you want to know?” I countered.

“Just curious.”

I tightened my grip on her waist, keeping her still, and bringing out another heavy gasp. “Always curious… Snoop.”

“You fight…” This was a statement. Not a question.

“Fight to protect myself.”

“And for fun.”

“No. For a living.”

“Just get a real job.”

“Real jobs aren’t my thing.”

“Then what is your
thing
?”

“I don’t know, but I don’t see you with a job.”

She laughed.

I fought one.

“People think you’re so bad… but you can’t fool me.” Her body stopped moving, and with a quick jerk, she spun around, landing between my arms.

Snaking her arms around my neck, she looked me straight in the eye. I watched as the flashing lights made her brown irises shimmer, the heat of her lips so close I felt I was already kissing her.

“You don’t know me,” I rasped. “And it’ll stay that way.” I tightened my hold around her.

Her lips twisted for a moment, and then she grinned. “I wouldn’t mind getting to know all about you, Drake.” As if something obvious registered, she said, “God, I like that name so much more than the Doomsday one.”

I shrugged a shoulder. “I’d rather be called Doom.”

“Sounds scary.”

“That’s the point.”

“Why?” she murmured, her face turning straight. “Why do you do that to yourself?”

I hated her stare, how she went from playful to fully concerned and serious in a matter of seconds. No one was ever this concerned about me but Grandma Marie, and that’s because she had the right. She was my grandmother.

I looked away, focusing on the DJ.

“Drop it,” I grumbled, my arms going slack around her.

“Just… tell me.” She pressed her body into mine. I was pinned against the wall, her tits pressed on my chest, her leg hooked around mine, in somewhat of a trap.

I had no clue how she ended up in the position she was in, but when I realized my hand was cupping her ass, I figured I was to blame.

Natural instinct. Couldn’t help myself.

“Don’t worry about it,” I told her. “I am who I am.”

“You don’t have to act like you’re a monster… or go with what everyone else calls you.”

“I don’t care.” I gritted my teeth, pushing her leg off mine.

Her body buckled, but I kept her steady with the grip I had at her waist. Eyelashes fluttering, she swallowed thickly, eyes wide and honestly annoying. “Your dad makes you fight, doesn’t he?”

Frowning, I snatched my hands away, and gripped her by the shoulders. “Jenny, just fucking
stop
.”

She blinked rapidly. “Stop what?”

“Stop asking questions you don’t want the answers to. Stop telling me what to do with my life!”

I observed her startled expression, how her eyes clouded with fear.

Whether she realized it or not, her bottom lip began to tremble, her hands sliding down my arms and, soon, away from me. I felt some sort of absence within me when her touch went missing. A part of me wanted her arms back around my neck, or her hands in mine, or even my fucking cock inside her—shit, anywhere—as long as I was touching her.

I eased up, releasing her and calming my shit. “Why does it matter to you anyway?”

It took her several seconds to gather a response. “Because I know you deserve better,” she murmured. “And because I’m almost certain that you aren’t as terrible as people say you are. I’m also certain that you believe me when I say that.”

I swallowed the heavy lump of sentiment in my throat, looking away from her. I caught Oscar’s eye when I scanned the room, and when he gave me a swift nod and started coming my way, I returned it.

“I’m leaving.” I started to walk past her, but she caught my wrist, spinning me in her direction again.

“Wait—can I give you my number?” Her eyes were full of hope. Too much fucking hope. What the fuck did she want from me? Didn’t she know that I couldn’t give her shit? “Please?” she begged.

Breathing raggedly, I squared my shoulders and pulled my arm away. “If you’re trying to get to know me…stop.” She was lucky I wasn’t taking advantage of her curiosity—the fire I witnessed in her eyes as she danced with me only seconds ago.

I could have fucked her with no mercy. I could have slayed her with bullshit words while slipping off her panties. I could have done so much to ruin every innocent, untainted part of her.

A bad guy like me wasn’t deserving of a good girl like her.

I didn’t want to blemish her soul with my darkness, my wrongdoings.

She deserved better. So I said, “Go party, Jenny. I don’t want your number.” And then I turned and stalked out the door, ignoring her pleas for me to stop and wait.

Oscar and Otto were right behind me, confused. “The fuck was that about?” Oscar asked when the door was shut behind them.

I ignored them, pressing the button on my key fob to unlock my truck. “Nothing.”

“Definitely something,” Otto laughed. “Dude, why don’t you just fuck that girl? She wants your dick so bad! Everyone can see it.” When he got in the truck, he capped my shoulder, laughing. “Fuck the shit out of her like how you fight. She’d remember that for the rest of her life. Girls love to be fucked like they’re hated.”
