He kissed me, hard. “I thought I would be gone before morning’s light.” He set me away from him, searching my face. “So, you’re glad I’m here?”
I reached down to encircle his growing erection in my hand. “I’m as glad as you are,” I giggled. Then I turned serious. “Do you think you will get to stay?”
“I was told I had one night to reveal your secret heart, to get you to return my love.”
“I do love you.”
He frowned. “How is that possible after one night?”
I pressed against him, skin to skin, and nothing had ever felt more natural and right. “I have known you all my life,” I whispered. “I have always loved the
idea
of you. And now…” I rubbed my breasts against his chest, feeling his erection press between my thighs, “Now I get to love you with my body as well as my soul.”
“But I stole your dreams. I risked your life by loving you!” His voice was filled with anguish and I pressed my hand to his face to soothe him. “You bring my life into existence and I nearly killed you.”
“You didn’t steal my dreams, you revealed them. You didn’t risk my life, you brought me to life!” I cupped his jaw so that he would look at me and see the truth in my eyes. “I was so lonely,
Victor. I needed something only you could give me.”
He gathered me up in his arms and carried me to the bed, tumbling me down among the tangle of sheets. “We may never leave this room,” he growled, running a possessive hand from my neck, down between my breasts, to cup my mound.
I twisted and arched my back, pressing against his probing fingers. Just that fast, with a flick of his thumb across my clit, I was near orgasm. His wings stretched up and out, a canopy of blue-black feathers above us.
“We won’t be able to leave this room,” I said, my coherency fading fast as he slid one long finger inside my wetness. “Those wings of yours will be hard to hide.”
He chuckled. “I have a bit of…magic to show you, love.”
Despite my whimpered protests, he released me and turned around. I watched in open-mouthed shock as he folded his wings so that they tucked close to his body and molded smoothly to his back. In clothes, he would simply look like a well-built man with a broad, muscular back.
“Nice,” I said appreciatively, mostly so he would return to the task of making love to me. “We just won’t be able to go to the beach.”
“Ah, but I’m not done.”
And then, his wings quivered and flattened against his back until they looked simply like an ornate tattoo. I couldn’t help myself, I got to my knees and ran my hands over his back, trying to detect the feathers that only a moment previous had presented such a magnificent display. All I felt was his skin, the faint ridges of his wings seeming to be the marks of a tattooist’s ink.
I pressed a kiss between his shoulder blades and, like the magic he claimed, the wings returned, his feathers tickling my nose.
“My angel,” I said again.
“Yes, my love?”
“Come to bed,” I said. “Now.”
My angel did as I commanded. And then it was my turn.
