All Those Years
, from the first of the pro-Springsteen bootleg CD labels, Great Dane, remains a terrific collection of great performances from the halcyon days and, save for marginal upgrades in the sonic department, could hardly be bettered, even now. Though Godfather have recently been responsible for a fine series of classic seventies performances of the E Street Band (and beyond), the benchmark for most live Springsteen bootleg CDs was set many years ago by three Springsteen-specialist labels, Crystal Cat, E Street Records and the –R label, Doberman. The first of these continues to match presentation to quality source material in a way that puts most official record labels—and certainly Sony—to shame. Both Godfather and Crystal Cat also maintain a surprising willingness to keep their perennial sellers in print, so many of the following titles should still be available from your local bootleg emporium, should such a thing still exist.
