The
aliens have explained to me what happened to you while I was unconscious. I'm
sure you have many questions. In a nutshell, Gar was an undercover agent who
lost his mind. That much you know. What you don't know is who's body you saw
hanging from the tree. The body was a red herring. Gar killed Mark Taylor and
passed the body off as his own to cause confusion. After being abducted, Gar
was hospitalized and he won't be harming anyone ever again.

As
for me, the aliens have asked me to become a member of their crew. Once I'm
fully recovered, I start work as an undercover agent. And though I am happy to
be where I am in my life, I still think of you and know you deserve answers.
The study has been permanently discontinued and no more secrecy is needed where
you are concerned. That is why the aliens have allowed me to write you this
letter. It's also to reward you for your bravery in helping them capture Gar.
Marnie and Lyle have signed over the island to you. It's yours Elizabeth. Free
and clear. The forms are enclosed. All you have to do is sign them. The other
thing in this package is the metal container. It's supposed to cure you of half
vampirism.

The aliens insisted I enclose
it, but somehow, I didn't think it was what you wanted. Mr. Lion told me about
your feelings for Aaron and your devotion to him. I have always loved you and
wanted you to be yourself. Because that's what I find so special about you. So,
I broke the rules and enclosed something else. I think this will only make you
more fully who you were meant to be. If you drink from this container, it will
give you the life expectancy of a vampire. Yes, the fountain of youth is real,
and it was created by space aliens. However, for obvious reasons, they decided
no one was meant to be immortal. But my opinion is that this situation may be
the exception to the rule. You will live forever beside Aaron if you drink
this. You are already nearly as powerful as him and this will only bring you
both closer together. You will never have to say goodbye to love, as I am doing
right now. Be happy Elizabeth. And be yourself.

Love,

Arthur

Elizabeth
held the letter in her hands warmly. She never cried out of happiness, but she
felt like she might. She never knew how much she cared about Arthur until she
felt the relief of knowing that he was truly okay. She set the letter down and
looked at the forms. She signed them. Then she looked at the small metal
container.

There was a button on it, and
she assumed this allowed the top to pop off. She stuck it in a drawer for
safekeeping. Arthur had chosen correctly. This was what she wanted more than
anything. She knew how sad it would be for Aaron to see her grow old and lose
her. He had already lost many half vampire mates that way.

The last thing she wanted to do was hurt him
like that. It had never been any concern to her that she would grow old while
he stayed young. Her love was deep, and resentment and jealousy would not set
in. It was inconceivable to her that she would resent him for being a vampire
while she was half. This was what allowed them to share their bodies with one
another and make love. Now, that they could be together forever their love
would only deepen knowing that death could not divide them. She decided that
after her brother's wedding she would return to the island and have her own
small wedding. Aaron and her would reaffirm their love and vow to spend
eternity together. Then she would drink from the canister and it would be
official. Together forever. As she reflected on the life that she had made for
herself and was about to build, she felt that she had truly become the woman
that she was meant to be.
