When her shudders and cries subsided, he drew back and raised himself above her, eyes aglow and mouth wet with her intimate juices. “Mmmm.” The sound was all she could bring herself to say.

“Is that all?” he murmured, a knowing grin on his face.
No lack of ego there. He might be referring to more than a reaction to his lovemaking, like for instance when it will be his turn…
As if she’d ever leave him high and dry when she’d just come. If she were the type to tease, she’d pretend she was ready to head off now that she’d had hers “Ah, no,” she murmured back. “That’s definitely not all.”

Lady’s choice. She flipped him over so she could straddle his record-breaking, more-than-special erection. She’d heard all those comments about it being the magic in the wand, not the size that mattered. She’d even expressed those comments a time or two. All the same, she appreciated the length and heft nature had bestowed on Keith. She licked her lips as she sheathed him with a ready condom.

“Mmm, that feels amazing,” he moaned as she gave him an extra squeeze. He bucked his hips, showing he was more than ready for their wild ride.

“You ain’t felt nothin’ yet,” she boasted as she lined herself up with the tip of his hard-on wedged just inside her intimate opening. She was so wet for him that he’d slide in at top speed if she didn’t slow him down a bit. First she wanted to treat them both to some fabulous friction. It would be a sin to cut short even a moment of their last ever lovemaking.

Uh-uh. Don’t go there.

Steeped in intimacy with the man she loved, Brenda didn’t find it at all hard to shut out the rest of the world, at least for the moment. But determined to make this time memorable, she had to kick her awareness up another notch to take in every last detail. She moaned, which drove Keith to thrust upward, farther inside than she intended as a starting point.

She forced herself to lift up from him, which got him sitting back on his elbows and looking at her in question. “What—”

“Not so fast, bucko,” she muttered, head thrown back.

“Okay. Just how fast do you want to go? It’s all for you tonight. I promised.”

She bit her bottom lip, then favored him with a smirk. “Not fast at all. Just follow my lead.”

“Your wish…” he started again.

“I know, I know. My wish is your command. I like the sound of that.” She punctuated her words with smooth maneuvers, first lowering herself onto him just to take in his tip, which she then squeezed with a long contraction. His groan—music to her ears. If only she’d thought to record the sounds he was making. Then she’d have another souvenir…

She played that game for a few moments, exercising precise control as she raised and lowered herself off and on his huge erection. “You’re going to drive me crazy,” he protested, clamping his hands on her butt and thrusting all the way in.

A bonus. Nice to be the one driving him crazy for once instead of being on the receiving end. Too bad it’s for such a short time.
“Great.” He raised a brow at the ambiguity of her response. Let him puzzle out the answer later.

“Oh, God,” he moaned as the full impact of her warmth engulfed him. “Brenda, baby, it’s so amazing with you.” His voice actually caught on the last words.

Oh, yeah? If it’s so amazing, why aren’t you taking better care of me? Why didn’t you take better care before it was too late?
She moved her hips in a small circle to respond, and he clutched her tighter. “Don’t move,” he ordered.

“No? Why not?” Little thrusts and sways accompanied her question.

“Just give me a moment,” he panted. “Otherwise this is gonna be faster than either of us wants.”

Feeling perverse, Brenda figured she didn’t have to listen or obey. She’d done too much of both in the recent past. But, then, she didn’t want it to be too fast either. At least for the moment they were on the same page.

“Is that okay?” she whispered, making the tiniest of moves.

“Barely,” he whispered back.

“What can you expect when we’re both bare?”

His laughter brought him even farther inside her.

Control could be overrated. Their passionate, incoherent sounds mingled with the tangle of the sheets, their legs, their breaths, their bodies. Their fates.

No. Not our fates.

Giving themselves up to the overwhelming pleasure of their erotic connection, they both became lost in the sensations of mutual ecstasy.

So many pulses of delight sprang to life as they moved together in the rhythm their bodies craved. Sensations and emotions. She could handle the sensations—after all, teeth-rattling pleasure wasn’t exactly hard to endure, but the emotions—those were killing her. Because what they had together in the moment, with their bodies in perfect sync, wasn’t enough. Couldn’t be enough. Would never be enough for her.

What else did Keith have to offer?

Nothing else. Expectations of anything more would break her heart.

So they made amazing love. For the moment, in his arms, joined in erotic intimacy, Brenda felt cherished. She got a peek at what it would be like if Keith loved her, just like catching a glimpse of paradise before being whisked away forever. To where? Hell?

Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all? A question she might never be able to answer. Certainly wouldn’t answer as she surrendered to the ecstatic bodily sensations leading to a historic climax. After that, it might take her years to determine which option was better.

Brenda hit her peak moments before Keith, who was always gratifyingly loud when he got caught up in his release. “Brenda,” he growled. “Oh, Brenda…” One hand clamped tight on her butt, the other caught up in her hair, Keith gave her his all.

And he kissed her, a sweet, powerful kiss that she must not read too much into. If she weren’t careful, if she didn’t know better, she could fool herself into thinking his kiss meant a heck of a lot more than it did. Than it could. Time to stop being a gullible fool.

He had both arms around her, holding her, stroking her back in the way she loved. She rolled off him, but he didn’t let go—just rolled with her so they were face to face in an embrace. “Wow, Brenda.”

Exerting all her strength, she pushed away from him. The moment to start with the new Brenda was now. No sense dragging her feet. Though she felt so shaky she feared her legs might not carry her, she stood. One step at a time.

Brow furrowed, he reached out. “Brenda? Where you goin’?”

As if he cared. Well, he probably cared a bit. Enough to want to keep her safe from any baddies prowling the streets at night. Luckily, she could take care of herself. “Home. Got an early morning tomorrow.”

He sat up. “You sure you have to go? I figured we’d have the night together.” He grinned at that prospect, and a twinge of longing went through her. A girl could get used to overwhelming pleasure, if she let herself. The key was not to let herself or she’d be too vulnerable.

“Won’t work for me.”

“You sure? I thought we’d go out for an amazing breakfast, spend the morning together. The whole day. See, I didn’t forget. Plus I have a surprise I can’t wait to give you.”

“I’ve made other plans. You can give me the surprise now.”

“No, it’s for tomorrow. Come on. At least stay for the morning. Tomorrow’s Saturday. What do you have that’s so all fired important that you’ll need to get an early start?”

I can be as generic as anyone.
“I’ve got plans.”

“Something you can’t put off? Something better than mimosas and French toast and a surprise?”

He knew breakfast was her favorite meal. But what he was coming up with for her birthday was unplanned and effortless, although he kept mentioning a surprise. Over the years, when he’d given her surprises, they were usually bad. Seeing Taylor when she got her tonight was another awful surprise. He’d probably put some effort into making the one he was trying to entice her with a good one. If he gave it to her tonight, she’d accept. Otherwise, she was sticking to her plan even though it meant giving up her chance to find out what his surprise was. She’d had it with settling for scraps.

“Have a good breakfast. I meant what I said. It won’t be with me.” She tried to remain dignified as she spoke, not an easy task in the midst of scooping up her clothes.

He got out of bed and put a hand on her arm. “Brenda, your voice sounds funny.”

Well, damn. She didn’t seem to be doing as good a job as she’d hoped of acting cool, calm and collected. “I really need to get dressed and go home. It’s late.”

“You didn’t answer my question.”

“You didn’t ask one.”

“Yeah, I did, at least by implication. That’s one of the things I count on with you, that I don’t have to put everything in words, that you’ll understand what I mean.” He started to cover his gorgeous nakedness with jeans.

“This time is different. I need you to put whatever you mean into words. My Keith Radar or whatever you think I have isn’t operational.” This conversation would work better if she had on more than her La Perla underwear. She should dress first, say goodbye and go.

“Okay. You seem very cold and distant even though we just made love and I asked you to stay the night and go out with me for breakfast. Not to mention my surprise. Something’s wrong, isn’t it?”

“Yes.” She could hardly get the word out.

He sucked in a breath and came over to her. “Tell me. I want to make it up to you.”

She moved away from him and continued throwing on her clothes. “Keith, trust me on this. It’s really for the best that I go home. That’s all I want. Nothing more to say.” Abundant tears threatened to spill. She wouldn’t let them.

Looking puzzled, he backed away to give her the space to get dressed, which she did as quickly as her hands would move. Then it was time. Her last moment ever with Keith.

“How about a kiss good night?” he asked as she headed to the door.

Sure. Why not. One for the long, winding road ahead. She tilted her face upward. He took her in his arms for a deep, romantic kiss, made all the sexier as she leaned into his naked chest. By the end of the kiss he was half erect again, the bulge in his jeans making her exit all the more of a challenge.

That was the way she’d remember him. At his best. With an erection for her, not for another woman.

“Isn’t this enough to entice you to stay longer?” His voice grew husky as he thrust against her.

Yes.
“No. I’ve got to go.”

“But, Brenda, when do we start making plans for your birthday? You know I want to.”

Right before she walked through the door and closed it, she turned back to her love and whispered, “Never.”

Never?
No way he’d accept that. He started to run after her, remembered he was bare-chested and threw on his shirt, buttoning as he went. “Brenda,” he called as he raced after her.

Barefoot, which he remembered too late to go back for shoes. He caught up with her just as she was getting in her car. “Brenda,” he panted.

She gazed at him with tear-filled eyes. “I can’t do this anymore, Keith. I can’t be one of your women.”

He stamped his bare foot, which hurt like hell. “You’re not. That’s what I’m trying to tell you. All that crap is over.”

“Right. I saw the evidence of that plain and simple when I got here.”

“Dammit, I explained that. You’re the only one.”
