A knock on the door and Colin entered, clad only in his trousers.
Even by the dim candlelight, she saw the expression on his face, a blend of tenderness and passion. “Alana, my wife!” He picked her up and carried her into his bedroom, then eased her on the bed, with its bedspread pushed aside. “Alana, I’ve waited so long, too long!” He removed his trousers and braes, tossing them on the floor, and joined her on the bed. His fingers clasped the hem of her nightgown, and she raised herself up to take it off, dropping the silky garment on the floor.

“Sweetheart!”
Oh, his kisses, his fingers touching her, finding all the sensitive places. So this was lovemaking, this beautiful melody her loved one played on her body. As they came together, all her worries, all her misgivings departed as one by one, the candles burned out.

That night, she went to sleep with a smile on her face.

She knew
—never doubted—their love would last throughout this life and for all their lives to come. He was hers, and she was his, for all eternity.

About The Author

Born near Pittsburgh, Shirley Martin attended the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating from
‘Pitt’, she taught school for one year, then obtained a position as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines. Based in Miami, she met her future husband there. After raising three sons, she devoted her time to writing, something she had always wanted to do.
