Transmissions had been received from Berke, Owen, Mason, and Van. All four were headed here and should arrive any day now. They’d made an agreement to transmit every evening at twenty-one hundred hours so that Mav and Ernie were aware of their locations and progress. Truman’s team of two had shown up this morning and both were a hell of a lot nicer and freer with information than their leader was. They would make a great fit to the security team and were currently bunking in with Kellen.

Stanley was staying out of Ernie’s way and it was more than apparent who Mabel was fonder of, considering she saved a little extra dessert for Ernie every evening. It wouldn’t surprise Mav if one morning he woke up to Mabel living at Ernie’s cabin. The man was certainly one to talk about taking one’s time, but the irony was lost on him.

The thumping of bass rhythm music could be heard coming from the bedroom, causing Mav to open his tired eyes and see what she was up to. He might have fallen asleep there for a moment, but the sensual vision before him certainly woke him up in a hurry. Henley was in some type of long black slip that formed to her body like a lover’s caress. She had her hair down around her shoulders with make-up done as if she were doing a live runway walk. Mav straightened in his chair as the blood rushed from his upper body straight to his cock.

“I think you mentioned a catwalk the last time we made love,” Henley said in a suggestive tone that covered him warmly and slowly as if her words had been made of molasses. “You certainly gave me one and I aim to return the favor.”

Mav certainly wasn’t going to argue and had to acknowledge her initiative for the way she’d staged this. It had been the sole reason for their hang-up and after having gone through what they’d gone through this last week…it was obviously her way of saying nothing else mattered except that they were both here to enjoy and love one another.

“You’ll have three choices to choose from,” Henley said, stating the ground rules as she started to saunter his way. Her hips swayed back and forth like a psychiatrist’s stopwatch used to hypnotize his patient and damned if he wasn’t already mesmerized. “This first one is a little black number that falls to my ankles in a sultry manner that will leave your woman feeling very sensual. You’ll find the color matches the brace on my wrist for the appeal of the total package.”

Mav’s gaze eased over her, taking in every curve and glisten the material displayed as it shifted with her movements over her naked body beneath. He ignored her little injection of humor as he was otherwise engaged. It wasn’t until he’d lowered his eyes to her ankles that he spotted the stiletto heels. The slit on the side gave him access to view her toned calf and he almost protested as she turned away and sashayed her hips in the opposite direction. It was the wrong direction, because she should have kept walking toward him.

“Intermission for lingerie number two.”

Mav didn’t hesitate and pulled his T-shirt over his head, tossing it down beside the chair. He’d unbuttoned his cammies, but didn’t have time to do anything else before she made another appearance. The flush on her face told him how much she loved doing this for him.

“This is a white spaghetti-strapped slip, edged with black lace and slit along the right side for easy access to please your woman,” Henley relayed, her voice barely above a whisper. It was unequivocally the sexiest voice he’d ever heard on a woman and he was blessed to have her by his side. “Do you like this one, Maverick?”

“Yes, very much,” Mav replied, watching her get closer and anticipating what would happen when she reached the chair. Unfortunately, she must have anticipated that he wasn’t going to let her go because she turned a little bit earlier than the last time, strolling back to the bedroom with a flick of her hair. “That wasn’t nice.”

Henley’s laughter filled the air and Mav was pleased that she was feeling better. She’d had headaches on and off for the past couple of days from the bump that she was still sporting on her head from where Trevor had knocked her unconscious. Mav still had deep-seated anger at what the man had done, but this wasn’t the time or place to let it interfere with the pleasure his woman was deriving by driving him insane.

Mav took the spare minute and removed his pants and briefs, making sure to pull out a condom. Ernie had handed him a cardboard box the other day with enough boxes to last them a year. Mav would have to make a run somewhere and somehow reload their supply when they ran out because there wasn’t a chance in hell they were going to stop making love to each other.

“Allow me to describe this little number,” Henley said, pulling his gaze to the bedroom where she was standing there looking more beautiful than he’d ever seen. Her arm was flush with the doorjamb and her hip was arched just right. Her olive skin appeared darker with the color of the lingerie and the matching lipstick made him want to kiss her until her natural shade appeared. She leisurely walked toward him, the sensual movement of her hips almost more than he could take. “You see, this half slip was made in the color of candied red apples for the sole purpose of sexual enticement.”

Henley walked closer, giving Mav time to rip the wrapper with his teeth. Her green eyes darkened as she took in his actions, managing to hike his own arousal. He could play her game and managed to roll on the condom as slowly as she was strolling toward him. It was hell, but the end result would be well worth it.

“The satin provides the ability for me to pull it up over my skin, allowing me to straddle you,” Henley murmured, getting closer enough that he could see she wasn’t wearing any panties underneath that red little number. She had shaved her pubic mound smooth, allowing her swollen clit and engorged labia to make their first appearance. Mav’s eyes were glued to her hands as her fingers worked the silky material up and over her hips. “Shall we try it?”

“With pleasure,” Mav replied, pleased when he was finally able to touch her. He wrapped his fingers around her waist, guiding her over him. It was easy to see that she was ready for him, her cream glistening between her inner thighs. The smooth material felt warm against his skin, but it was nothing compared to the feel of her pussy stretching around his cock. He had to close his eyes and even out his breathing to prevent himself from coming far too soon. “I’d say the designer did a fantastic job of creating a slip that allows this, sweetheart.”

Henley hummed in appreciation, letting her head fall back as she rested her forearms on his shoulders. The chair was big enough that it allowed her knees to tuck in beside his tight thighs, which she used for leverage as she continued to ride him at her own leisure.

Mav was in awe of watching her expressions, those red lips parting in a smile rich with pleasure. His main goal was to hold out until she received her orgasm, but it was going to be damn close unless he helped her along. Holding one hand on her back so that she had some support, he brought his other hand around and tucked it under the fabric between them so that his fingers brushed against her wet, exposed, and swollen clit.

“Maverick, make me come,” Henley pleaded, her eyes fluttering open and meeting his gaze. She could ask for the moon and he would somehow manage to give it to her. “Please.”

“You don’t have to beg,” Mav replied, giving her what she needed as he helped her quicken the pace. It meant holding on to her waist with both hands, but hearing her cries was well worth it. “Come for me, sweetheart.”

Henley exploded in his arms and he wasn’t far behind. He pulled her tightly to him as he buried his face in her hair and inhaled her fragrance. She’d become his everything and nothing of this world would ever take her from him. Mav finally loosened his hold on her, not wanting to cause her headache to come back. It wasn’t until he was lightly stroking her arms that he realized she’d tensed.

“Are you okay?” Mav asked, leaning back so that he could look at her face. Henley was smiling and held a hand to her ear. He laughed and shook his head. “You don’t hear anything because I left strict instructions not to interrupt us unless the West Coast was about to fall into the water.”

“Hmmm, don’t jinx us,” Henley chuckled lightly, relaxing into him and resting her head on his shoulder. It appeared she didn’t have any plans to move, but since his semi-hard cock was still nestled inside of her…he was more than okay with that. “We have enough to deal with.”

“As long as you love me half as much as I love you, we can get through anything.” Mav closed his eyes and took time to treasure the woman in his arms. They had all night before another day of survival started that would keep them alert, defending what was theirs.

“I couldn’t agree more, Maverick.”

They stayed that way for quite a while, both cherishing what they’d been given during these hard times. The saying was true about the sun still shining during dark times and the proof was in his arms. An essential beginning had taken place in more ways than one.

The End

Hidden Ashes (Surviving Ashes, Book Two)

There were a few things that got Owen Quade through his multiple combat tours. One was the dream of riding a custom motorcycle on a winding mountain road. The former Marine had finally managed to complete that goal, and along the way he’d gained his own bike shop and the mechanic to go with it. She was a rare beauty, and he wasn’t talking about his bike either.

Prue Whitaker preferred working on engines over rubbing shoulders with people, and that included her boss. She’d learned the hard way that men weren’t as reliable as the hogs she could repair and she kept her distance from those who didn’t feel the same way. She’d been successful until she’d recently shared a scorching kiss with Owen.

One phone call had changed everything. A catastrophic event is on the verge of occurring, forcing them to pack up and leave everything behind. Prue is driven to trust Owen, who’s given his word that he can get her to safety. Through the endless days of darkness, passion and intrigue await them as they make their way through ashes and into the flames of tomorrow.

About the Author

First and foremost, I love life. I love that I’m a wife, mother, daughter, sister… and a writer.

I am one of the lucky women in this world who gets to do what makes them happy. As long as I have a cup of coffee (maybe two or three) and my laptop, the stories evolve themselves and I try to do them justice. I draw my inspiration from a retired Marine Master Sergeant that swept me off of my feet and has drawn me into a world that fulfills all of my deepest and darkest desires. Erotic romance, military men, intrigue, with a little bit of kinky chili pepper (his recipe), fill my head and there is nothing more satisfying than making the hero and heroine fulfill their destinies.

Thank you for having joined me on their journeys…
