decay.

Still after all the blood spilt, there was no news, no clues as to where

his future queen might reside. Hope waned; it drifted from his heart and

replaced with sorrow. She could not be dead. His heart would have shattered,

but she was apparently unreachable.

“Sir!”

His head shot up at the urgency in Thame’s tone. He flew to him and

the troll that knelt by his side. “There will be no more mercy on a troll’s life. If

you know where my queen is then speak or die.”

It looked up with a shiver. “There was a wingless that came through

here a while ago.”

Wick wanted to scream in agony, but his training kept him silent.

Brielle healed him much faster than anticipated, but only time would truly

mend his injuries. The mind was another story and filled with panic inducing

memories. Just the thought of trolls caused a cold sweat to break out on his

skin.

He’d never understood Whisper’s intense hatred for the things, but a

fairies perspective changed when they tried to rip off his wings. Thankfully,

Mord was still alive and protected his unconscious body. His wings were

tattered but remained, and he could not be more grateful. When a fairy loses

their wings from force, it’s said to cause a catastrophic breakdown. That’s the

reason they all left Whisper to do his thing in the shadows. Rumors had spread

that his wings had once been hacked off and that was why he was a crazy, lone

warrior.

For him, life would go on. Wounds would eventually heal, and his

mind would mend. Wick’s erection was a completely different story and that

plummeted his heart even further in the dumps. With his disability, he would

not be first to go to the surface and search for a woman. In fact, he’d probably

be last which meant more loneliness to accompany his hard on. The worse

part? It was too painful to work one out himself. A gratifying orgasm lay out of

reach.

He sighed, shifted to his back rested more toward the right of the bed

and closed his eyes to the bright world. It was either sleep or let his thoughts

consume him whole. They would, too, at the rate he was thinking. No pun

intended, but he wanted that fairytale romance, that perfect woman that

definitely did not exist. Therefore, dreaming of a horde of naked, wanton

women seemed like the best course of action.

Carrick tilted his head. Not many wingless ones were left in the world.

They were too dangerous to human and fairy kind. “They live alone, Troll,

why would it dwell here?”

“No, it watched us, hunted us, but it smelt like your human, your

queen.”

Carrick wanted to fall on his own blade. If a Gancanagh had her, Brook

would not be the same woman he loved. “Let him leave…and Troll, for your

safety I would not go into the forest.” Whisper hunted in the shadows, and this

one did not stand even a small chance at survival. He had to return to Wick and

find out where the nearest wingless lived. He spread his wings, waited for his

fairies to do the same, and they greeted the dark sky. This could very well be

his last chance to save his true love.

Wick was in his chamber, silent, still and bandaged well. Brielle sat

regally beside him, a book open in her hands, her mind elsewhere as they

barged into the room and she jerked in surprise. Her big, beautiful, green eyes

jumped first to her king then to her love, Mord. “What is it?”

“I need him awake…” There was a groan and Carrick rushed to his side.

“Wick, please, I need your help now more than ever, my friend…” He watched

as one lid opened. The other was swollen shut. “Do you know where the

nearest Gancanagh is?”

There was the slightest nod and Carrick leaned down to hear the

whisper that might lead him to Brook. His heart beat so fast he almost missed

those precious words that were barely audible from the damaged fairy. “Just

over the hill, the cottage on the edge of the cliffs...”

The words stunned him, his breath caught, and he stood ramrod straight.

There was one Gancanagh in the area. Fury rushed through his veins and soon

he flew through the wide corridors toward his warriors. They finally had a lead,

a destination, and he jumped into the air with his last thread of hope unraveling.

Brook squinted into the darkness of the room. Was that classical

music? She opened her lids with a serious yawn and stretched her arms over

her head.

What the hell was in that tea? Her body felt fine, a little sore but

nothing drastic. Brook stood and grabbed the fluffy white robe that she had

been dying to lounge in. She toed open her door and glanced out.

Louder, sadder music drifted from downstairs. It had to be Valen. She

didn’t know he liked classical music. She didn’t know too much about the fairy,

which made this craving to jump his bones even stranger.

Her bare foot landed on each step quietly, hushed as she stopped mid

step to watch him. He threw a pot across the room and cursed out the stove in,

what she guessed, was Gaelic. Laughter bubbled up. A few moments later, she

smelt smoke and jumped to her feet.

It took moments enter the kitchen, see a dish towel on fire and Valen

trying successful to extinguish the flames by throwing cups of water from the

sink. He turned around with a raised brow, his cheek smudged with burnt

residue, and water dripped down his bare chest to create a puddle on the floor.

He looked hilarious, and she double over laughing.

His scowl became a slight grin then he chuckled and shook his head.

“Apparently, not only am I wingless, but I can’t cook either.” He sat with a

slump in the nearest chair.

His features fell. Brook walked up to him with the intention of patting

his back and cleaning up the mess. Her hand landed on his shoulder, she leaned

down and pressed her lips against his forehead. The mirth instantly faded at her

actions. Damn it, why did she not think around Valen?

She avoided his eyes and turned to look at the mess he created. “I’m

guessing you tried to cook breakfast?” She glanced out the window. The

sunrays began to scatter the shadows. “Well, the thought was nice.” She tried

to keep the conversation light and made sure her focus was on cleaning the

disaster. The burnt cloth was tossed in the water-filled sink.

The pan was also burnt to a black crisp and she shook her head before

placing it in the skin. Brook grabbed a rag, soaked it, and began rubbing the

flakes off. What was he trying to cook anyway? Why wasn’t he talking? She

didn’t turn, fought every nerve telling her to check on him and kept cleaning.

That did not stop him. He was behind her, his body pressed into hers, and she

gasped at the warmth that surged through them. “Valen…” That was the worse

protest ever. His name was breathy and low.

“I just want to taste you again.”

He pushed the hair from her neck, then his hands rested on her hips,

and his erection prodded as his breath teased her skin. It was so erotic and

Brook didn’t know if she could fight this man’s lust anymore.

Carrick was absent, was he even looking for her? His lips caressed her

neck; slow, tender kisses that made her eyes close. Wasn’t this what love was

supposed to be?

He’d saved her twice now, he had not lied to her since they met and

lust was a major issue. That wicked tongue of his slipped free and trailed along

her ear. A thick cock poked incessantly against her back. His legs slowly

shifted her thighs apart and her eyes popped open. She was only wearing a bra,

panties and her robe.

“The minute I saw you in this…I wanted to open the ties and see what

lay beneath. I want to kiss every inch of your flesh until you scream my name.”

Name one person who could even consider saying no to that! His hands

shifted. She felt the material around her body loosen and then his hands

returned to her bare hips. Flesh upon flesh, something sizzled between them.

Her body betrayed her instantly. Brook’s core began to sweeten and her

nipples hardened. Her breath came in deep pants as he pushed the robe over

her shoulders, and it slid down her back. His kisses shifted too, down her

shoulder, over her triceps and then he placed tender touches along her back. He

tugged and the robe fell with a light thud to the floor. There was no time for

thinking. She could only feel.

The sensation rocked her body as he kept descending. His lips were

soon at her panty line. His tongue dipped below, his hands pressed her legs

further apart. A long, sneaky finger entered her in one sweet, moan-inducing

thrust.

“Valen…” She could
not
do this. Her heart screamed at her betrayal.

Her soul fought every emotion, but her body craved him. The crotch shifted

and her pussy was exposed to his erotic gaze. Her eyes popped open, his

tongue swiped across her lower lips. Pleasure surged through her, and she

gripped the edge of the counter. Another lick and suddenly she spun around.

She opened her eyes as Valen stood and his lips devoured hers. His

hands dipped into her panties to cup her ass cheeks. His heavy cock pressed

directly over her clit, the scant clothes they wore hindered nothing and her

head fell back from the overwhelming pleasure. That felt so damn good.

He kissed lower, sucking at her cleavage and shoved the material away

to exposed a hard, pink nipple. The way his mouth made love to that little bud

was unbelievable. Her hands tangled in his dark red hair, she could barely

breath as ecstasy threatened to tear her apart.

“Valen!” She pressed her crotch harder against his thick cock. Brook

rubbed wildly in an attempt to reach that ultimate explosion and then he

groaned. The sound was so raw, so enchanting and thrilling she pulled his head

up and kissed him. She wanted to hear that noise over and over. He clasped her

hips, began shifting her body against his, his mouth ruled the kiss.

Domination destroyed her self-control as the length of his dick created

exquisite sensations. Her core leaked; her clit shivered. She was so damn close

to orgasm that she growled in frustration. Valen would not change the pace. He

pumped against her wet panties with precision.

When she pulled her mouth away, he simple harassed her nipple.

Pleasure overwhelmed everything around them and then her climax exploded.

Goose bumps covered her flesh. Her mouth opened and the longest moan

escaped.

He kept thrusting, his cock a thick, wild, pleasure rod. She felt the

moment he came, his body tensed, that raspy moan sounded and he held on

tight. She gasped then her body went lax against his. His semi hard cock still

pulsed between her legs. Little movements sent shivers through her clit.

“Brook,” he whispered her name, and she finally locked eyes with him.

Why did his features show such desperation? His eyes were slightly glassy,

and he took a deep breath before speaking. “I love…”

“Brook!” The familiar voice of the man she loved yelled her name.

Her eyes widened and she jerked her gaze to the window.

“Don’t go with him.” Valen grabbed her chin, stared into her wide eyes

and pleaded. “Stay with me, please Brook. I love you.”

Thirty-five fucking years with no hope at true love, and now she had

two in the same week. Somebody up there hated her.

She pushed Valen away, shoved her robe over her body and ran to the

door. Was it really him? She flung it wide and watched with her heart in her

throat as her fairy man landed.

“Carrick…” No yelling, no screaming, just a simple whisper of his

name. She took off, ran at his form as tears slid down her cheeks. His arms

wrapped around her and her eyes fell on his handsome features. Love radiated

from him, her heart clenched and she knew leaving Valen was the right choice.

His lips were instantly on hers, his tears mingled with hers. When she pulled

back, she was grinning like a fool.

“Brook!”

She turned at his voice. Thame had a sword at Valen’s heart.

Chapter Fourteen

“No. No!” She charged forth, only stepping a foot before Carrick pulled

her to him.

“He kidnapped you…” His eyes held such fury.

“He didn’t, I swear he saved me from the trolls but we couldn’t return

because-”

“I killed those trolls, I was there the night you escaped and would have

found you. Brook…the fairy kingdom is just over that hill.” He pointed with

the tip of his sword.

That couldn’t be. Carrick could not have been that close or Valen

would have known. Or maybe he did know. She turned, tilted her head to stare

at him. He didn’t fight the fairy that could spear his heart. No one else seemed

to matter. Valen looked at her, his eyes hurt and empty.

“You lied.” He’d kept her here and seduced her when her king was so

close. She ran to Valen, stood above him as he knelt. “Tell me it’s not true.”

He didn’t answer. Would he ever answer?

“I love you, Brook.”

She shook her head, pain surged through her brain, and she slapped him

without a second thought. “Leave him here to rot.” How could he lie so

blatantly? She turned, shifted so their flesh did not meet when he tried to reach
