"You didn't do what I think you did, did you?" Scarlett giggled.

"I sure did!" Ashlynn said as she pulled a joint from her bra.

Scarlett laughed at her friend. "I just can't believe you sometimes!"

Ashlynn sang as she got a lighter out of one of the kitchen drawers. "Roll, roll, roll my joint.. pick out the seeds and stems.. livin high as hell flyin through pom dell and some other words I don't know."

Scarlett laughed. "I haven't heard that song in years!"

"Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea..." Ashlynn giggled. "I can't remember the words to that one either!"

She lit the joint and took a little drag and held her breath as she nudged Scarlett to take it. Scarlett laughed at Ashlynn as she took it in her fingers. She drew in deep and held her breath then handed it back to Ashlynn. They passed it back and forth a couple more times and then Ashlynn got up and put it out in the kitchen sink.

They sat laughing at the movie so hard their bellies cramped. "I don't care what movie Seann William Scott plays in, he is always Stiffler!" Ashlynn laughed.

"Yea just like Jason whatever will live the rest of his life as 'that dude that fucked the pie'!" Both girls laughed hysterically.

"This is just the medicine I needed!" Scarlett laughed with a mouth full of ice cream and brownies.

"Yea well you probably got a hell of a good buzz rollin with the pain meds and shit too!" Ashlynn laughed.

"I'm just glad it hasn't put me to sleep yet!" Scarlett giggled. "I'd hate to have missed this!"

"With all the caffeine and sugar you've been taking in no wonder you haven't passed out!"

"Well give me another hit of that sugary stuff! I'm so eating all those brownies!" Ashlynn leaned over closer to Scarlett with a serious look on her face. "What's wrong Ash?"

"Your my best friend, I want to tell you about this one time, at band camp I.."

"Hey!" Scarlett cut her off and they both busted out laughing.

They laughed and chattered until the movie was over. When the movie ended they sat there talking finally starting to sober up.

"I wasn't ready to marry Aaron. I felt I hadn't experienced enough to settle down just yet. Boy I've experienced the world alright. Since we broke up it's been a roller coaster!"

Ashlynn got up and walked to the fridge to get some soda. She always knew what to say but since her friend had became so depressed with all the horror she had been through she wasn't sure how to comfort her. She poured some more Mountain Dew and then walked back over to sit next to Scarlett.

A second later the door flew open. Both girls jumped to their feet. It was Cody. He had kicked in the door. "My parents got a phone call this evening that I'm being charged with assault and attempted rape!" He walked towards Scarlett, his anger apparent and she could smell alcohol on his breath. He ignored Ashlynn never looking away from Scarlett. Scarlett was froze with the previous night flashing before her eyes but underneath her skin she squirmed trying to get away. As he was standing right before her, Ashlynn grabbed the lamp on the end table behind her and smashed it into the side of his head. He screamed and turned to Ashlynn. She backed away and he stepped closer as blood trickled down across his ear. She was back against the TV, cornered as he closed the gap between them. He drew back to hit her and before any of them could blink a black wolf flashed through the door and bit onto his elbow and another lunged through the door landing in front of Scarlett. Scarlett screamed on the inside and tried to run but on the outside she was frozen with fear.

The black wolf had jerked Cody back away from Ashlynn and was now between them baring it's teeth. Cody stepped back. The wolf followed. Every step Cody took backward toward the door the wolf took one as well. Cody nearly jumped out of his skin as he realized there was another wolf who was also closing in on him. He turned and ran out the door disappearing into the dark. The wolves both turned their attention now to Scarlett and Ashlynn. Ashlynn stood shocked at the two wolves before them. Like Scarlett, she was frozen. SCARLETT! She thought. She looked over at her friend and saw her crumple on the floor. It had been too much and she could no longer process the things that were happening. Ashlynn ran to Scarlett and slid her hand underneath her head. Luckily she hadn't hit her head as she fell. She looked over to the wolves and saw that there was no longer two wolves looking up at her but one wolf and one completely naked man. Her jaw dropped as she recognized the man. "ADAM?"

He stepped forward and leaned down and scooped Scarlett off of the floor. He placed her on the sofa and then covered himself before he turned back to Ashlynn. "Do you have any clothing I could put on?" His face had a red tint to it. He was embarrassed although he had nothing she could see to be embarrassed for.

Ashlynn didn't answer. Instead she stood staring at the bare-ass man before her. He looked like the men she had seen on those dirty birthday cards in the mall. His chest and arms were sculpted perfectly. They were muscular but not at all huge in a gross 'Incredible Hulk' way. He had little visible body hair. Only on his arms and legs and a line of it climbing from the area his hands were covering, up through the middle of his chiseled abs to his belly button. His complexion was about the shade of hers in early summer when she was starting to tan.

"Ashlynn, do you have any clothing I could possibly put on?" Adam was a brighter shade of red now.

Ashlynn snapped out of her trans. "Yea I got some baggy sweats."

Adam looked back at the wolf behind him then back to Ashlynn. "I need two pair."

Ashlynn scurried to her room and came back with two pairs of sweat pants. She glanced at the other wolf and then handed them both to Adam.

"Could you maybe turn around please?" Adam asked coyly.

Ashlynn was immediately embarrassed that she hadn't already done so and whipped around putting her back to Adam and the wolf.

A few seconds later Adam said, "Okay, you can turn back around."

Ashlynn turned around to see Adam standing there in her sweats and another man she didn't know behind him wearing the other pair.

"This is Ben."

He was a little shorter than Adam but also a little thicker. His muscles seemed to bulge more than Adam's did. He had a lighter complexion than Adam and the same wavy dark hair. He also had the same chiseled abs and chest although he had some chest hair and the strip on his belly was wider. She looked at him and got lost in his beautiful blue eyes. "Hi." The simple word seemed hard for Ashlynn to spit out. Her mind was going zero to ninety trying to understand what had just happened. Then she remembered Scarlett who was unconscious on the couch. She sat down next to her and ran her hand across her face. Scarlett started to stir a little.

Adam stepped forward. "Prop her feet up. They should be elevated higher than her head." Ashlynn slid a couple pillows under her feet as Adam got down on his knees next to her and took her hand. He slowly slid the brace off of her wrist and examined it checking for more swelling. "I don't think she fell on it." He sat back and slid away a few feet when he realized Ashlynn was looking bewildered.

"You're a wolf?" Ashlynn asked with wide eyes.

"Yes." Adam answered completely straight forward.

Ashlynn didn't reply. She wasn't sure what to say. She just sat there staring at the two men wearing her sweat pants.

"We are werewolves." Adam said carefully. "But we are nothing like the vicious beasts horror movies make us out to be."

"Well I'd hope not because I really don't want to be eaten." Ashlynn scoffed.

"We are peaceful creatures and spend most of our existence as humans. We do not eat people and are not blood thirsty animals. There is no reason to fear us."

"Okay well if we are all being honest here I should tell you I'm Big Foot in disguise but there is no reason to fear me."

Adam laughed. "Alright Big Foot we promise not to be frightened."

"So let me get this straight. You are both wolves. Werewolves. But you live normal human lives and only go all rabid dog under the full moon? Wait, it's not a full moon tonight!" Ashlynn looked confused.

Adam took a breath in and let it out. "We can change at will. We do not need a full moon to transform us. Although we do change under the full moon. Under a full moon we have no power to keep our human appearance. So on the nights when the moon is full, we hunt." He looked up to Ashlynn waiting, hoping to see acceptance of some kind on her face but instead she looked scared. "We don't hunt people if that's what you're thinking. I mean we run through the forest and we hunt rabbit and deer."

Ashlynn looked relieved. She sat there quiet for a minute thinking about what Adam had just explained to her. "Okay." She said as she let out a breath. "I think I got it straight. But who is Ben?" She asked looking from Adam to the man behind him and then back to Adam.

"This is my Uncle Ben." Adam explained.

"He doesn't look old enough to be your Uncle!" Ashlynn said. "But then again at first glance I wouldn't think he's a werewolf!"

"You probably wouldn't think that he's 128 years old either." Adam laughed.

"What? He's how old? What?"

"He is technically my great-uncle. My grandfather's brother. And he is 128. Born in 1884."

"Oh my. That's unbelievable! Wait, how old are you?"

"I am 73. I was born in the year 1939."

Ashlynn sat with her mouth open for a moment. "Okay, so you guys are ancient and your whole family is werewolves?"

"It is only Ben and I. The rest of our family is gone." Adam looked down to the floor as he spoke. It saddened him that he and Ben were all that was left.

"What happened to the others? Your parents and your grandparents?" Ashlynn asked.

"Over the years they have been killed by hunters. As the forests shrink and the human population grows we become less and less safe to run freely under the moonlight."

"That's awful!" Ashlynn stated truly saddened. "So you are the only two left?"

"We are the only ones left of our family." Adam explained.

Before Ashlynn could ask anymore questions Scarlett began to wiggle. She tried to sit up but then laid back down as she saw Adam and Ben. "What the hell happened?"

Chapter 8

As Scarlett looked around the room Ashlynn whispered, "Scarlett, I think your eyes are going to pop out. Blink!"

Scarlett looked over at the two men. "You, I know. Who is that?" She asked looking at Ben.

"That is Adam's Uncle Ben." Ashlynn said in a motherly voice.

"Where did the wolves go? Were there any wolves or was I dreaming again?" Scarlett was looking from person to person waiting for an explanation.

"Well that's kind of hard to explain." Adam said looking at Scarlett then to Ashlynn.

Ashlynn rolled her eyes. "It's not hard to explain! It's actually quite simple. Adam and Ben here are werewolves."

Scarlett laughed. "And here I thought I had lost MY mind!"

Ashlynn sat wondering how to explain this to her. "Would you rather they show you than try to explain?"

"I don't know if that's a good idea Ashlynn." Adam said looking nervous.

"Oh come on werewolf doctor guy. By all means, show me." Scarlett said in obvious disbelief.

Adam stood up and stepped back. "Are you sure?" Scarlett nodded her head. Adam began to grow fur from head to toe. It started on his belly and chest and seemed to spread. His body began to mutate. His face was distorted as his nose stretched, his teeth lengthened and his ears grew. His limbs twisted in inhuman ways bending in directions a persons arms and legs should not bend. The sweat pants hit the floor and a tail sprouted as he landed on the floor on all fours. It happened so fast if Scarlett would have blinked she would have missed it. He shook his fur like a dog would after taking a bath or rolling in the dirt. He sat on his haunches waiting for Scarlett's reaction.

She looked at him as if he had simply yawned and stretched. "Okay, somebody please wake me up. If not, bring me Channing Tatum!"

Ashlynn looked over at her friend. "Honey, pinch yourself, you aren't dreaming."

Scarlett smiled at her and then pinched her arm. "Why does that hurt? I can feel it."

Ashlynn laughed. "I'm sorry but Channing Tatum isn't showing up either."

"Okay so this really is happening? This isn't from the pain meds or the pot? I didn't fall and hit my head? I didn't die in my sleep and God is playing with me? This really is happening? This really is happening!" The more Scarlett talked the more it sank in and the heavier she started to breath.

In a flash the wolf was gone and Adam stood before them again with his hands cupped over his man parts. Scarlett's jaw dropped open just before Ashlynn put her hand up to the side of her head and turned her face toward her and away from Adam. "Give the guy a little privacy! Geez!"

Adam swiped the sweat pants off the floor and pulled them up. "Okay, I'm covered." Scarlett and Ashlynn turned back to him as he walked over to Scarlett. "You need to lay down. Prop your feet up and take slow deep breaths in through your nose and out your mouth."
