He didn’t really like her any more than he had when she’d been abandoned on his door step by her brother. But thinking of the round globes of her tits, which had been displayed nicely in the tight tank she wore tonight, he’d known he’d love to take her to his bed. He squeezed his hardness, working the thickened erection with his hand thinking of Charity.

He began to slowly as he thought of pressing her back into that counter naked. With her ass resting on the counter as he thrust inside her. Fuck, he thought as he came with a grunt of satisfaction. Damn, that woman was a menace, and he couldn’t stop fanaticizing about her. He’d planned on getting laid when he’d gone over to talk to the sweetbutt’s the day they’d been trapped in the pantry, but after a few minutes he’d realized none of them really revved him up like she did.

He washed up and got out. He dried off thinking about going over the main house to see a sweetbutt later. He really needed to quit jacking off to thoughts of Charity. He dressed and headed down to the dining room. He heard Charity talking to Max and Connor.

“That fort you two built with the sheets I gave you looked pretty cool.” Charity was saying when he entered.

“Yeah, we want to show Alex how to make one when he gets back. Would that be okay?” Max asked Charity.

“I think it will, but I might not be here so you should ask your father.” Charity hedged.

“You’re not going to leave. Dad likes you and I do too.” The boy said his voice sure.

“Thanks, I like you too.” Charity said not arguing with the boy.

“Well the tunnels are big enough for you to crawl in to read me and Connor a story like you always do. And there’s a cool trap we can show you how to avoid.” Max’s voice was animated and sounded almost like the kid he’d known before Vivi died.

He almost sighed. His son was really getting attached to Charity being here. It worried him. She wasn’t going to always be here like she’d just told him and Max was really beginning to like her a lot.

“What’s this I hear about a cool fort? Am I not invited to see it? I’m the king of this here castle.” Tick told them as he sat down at the table.

“Of course, you can see it, dad. But you’re are not the king. I am!” Max told him with confidence.

“I’m a prince then at least.” Tick shot back with a smile.

“Ha…” Charity snorted, as she nodded at the boys.

““Nu-uh, I’m the prince and so is Alex when he finally gets back.” Connor howled

“Okay, now that that’s settled. You can eat now that everyone’s here.” Her eyes met his letting him know that she didn’t think of him as a prince or a king. He shrugged, chuckling. He began eating.

The meal passed quickly and they were all having a great time. Connor had told them all about fort building with Max. He’d always thought his younger friend walked on water as had Alex. Those three boy’s had been inseparable since they were in diapers. After they cleared the table they headed to Max’s room where they had to enter the fort after Max. The trap turned out to be two pillows on a pulley system that slammed into you if you went that way. How his son had managed that he couldn’t tell you, but it was a relief to know he had only used pillows.

The boys had made a large enough space for them to lay down on the double bed, but with him, Charity and the boys, it was a tight squeeze. He insisted to Charity’s dismay that he be allowed to listen to the story she was reading. She glared at him, but Max said it was okay. He settled with her body plastered to his as he rested against the wall under the blankets. He listened to her voice as the boys fell asleep.

He didn’t realize that he’d fallen asleep himself until she shifted against him a few hours later. He opened his eyes seeing her head resting on her arm and the book under her face. He realized that the position must not be comfortable. He reached out sliding the book from beneath her face, then gently shifted her over closer to the boys. He rested his arm beneath her head. Looked like he was sleeping in this crowded bed tonight. No way was he waking her or the two boys. They all looked so damned peaceful. He nor he son got much peace, so now that his boy had a tiny bit of that back he wasn’t going to disturb it.

He kissed her forehead lightly before laying back to get some sleep himself. One arm under her head and the other reached out over her stomach to hold his son’s hand. Not realizing that it meant he was holding Charity to him tightly as he fell back to sleep.

Charity stood at the stove the next morning a little disturbed by what had happened a few hours ago. Ratchet had come looking for Tick when he didn’t show at seven when they were supposed to meet out in the west pasture. His calling out to them was what had awakened her. She’d been wrapped in Tick’s arms. It had been odd waking up in his arms this morning. She’d been practically on top of him. She’d rested her head on his chest and his hand had been cupping her ass. Her leg had been thrown over his and he’d had the biggest hard on she’d ever felt, making her remember the way he’d looked in that hotel room.

He’d been impressively sized even while limp, and from the thickness that had been pressing into her hip this morning he was even more so when erect. It had been an awkward moment for them both, especially with the boys still in the bed with them. Ratchet on the other hand had thought it was precious. She was making pancakes for everyone now. She added the blueberries and then poured the batter on the pan. She was a bit confused about the way this morning had made her feel.

Tick wasn’t really her type, but she’d felt safe and happy. It had been strange, and she was conflicted about her date this weekend. She’d intended to tell him last night after the boys were in bed, but they’d fallen asleep. Now she felt weird about it. She sighed, placing the finished pancakes on the plate. The boys, Ratchet and Tick came into the room a few minutes later.

“Umm…smells good, baby girl.” Tick told her smiling. She gave him a small smile, turning back to the stove.

Tick had felt a bit strange waking up with her plastered on top of him. He didn’t admit it to her or Ratchet, but he’d actually woke up about ten minutes before the man had come barging into the house. He’d been enjoying the feeling of her in his arms, and his stiff cock had proven how much. He should have gotten up when he realized he must be late, but he hadn’t. He’d held her to him. It had been nice having a woman in his arms when he woke up.

Although, he had felt a bit awkward about the whole scene once Max and Connor were awake. Ratchet was laughing at him for the very domestic scene, and with the shit he’d been talking about Charity over the last week to Ratchet, he’d bet the man thought he was lusting after her. He wasn’t, she just made damned good jacking material. Fuck, he was lusting after her, well not her, she was a viper. But her body, yeah he was lusting after that.

He didn’t like that she looked uncomfortable with him now. He walked over to her leaning around her to grab for a pancake. His hand landing on her hip as he did it. He knew as he leaned into her that he was doing it on purpose to get a rise out of her, but he couldn’t seem to stop the little devil on his shoulder telling him to do it.

“Stop, you can wait like everyone else.” Charity said in a slightly breathy tone that made his already hard dick, even harder. Fuck, he wondered suddenly if that was how she sounded in bed. Then he wondered what the fuck was wrong with his brain. Why was he constantly thinking of this woman in his bed?

“Woman, I need food.” He growled, taking the pancake despite the nasty smack she gave his hand.

“You’re a pain in the ass that’s what you are. Now, go have a seat.” Tick laughed squeezing her hip as he took his contraband back to the table. Ratchet looked at him with raised brows as he took his seat. He sent Ratchet a questioning look, which the man returned.

“That’s not fair! I want a pancake too.” Max yelped.

“Me too” Connor seconded.

“See what you started.” Charity sneered, before sliding a few pancakes onto plates for everyone, giving Tick one less than everyone else.

“Hey, where’s the rest of mine, woman?” He asked in a mock angry voice which made Max and Connor laugh.

“In your belly, greedy.” She said turning back to the stove making the rest of the pancakes. Tick watched her as he ate his pancakes. His eyes never leaving her backside as she made the rest of them before sitting down to eat her own. Tick noticed after a while that Ratchet was watching him with his head tilted to the right. He knew this was the way Ratchet puzzled out something that was bothering him, and he wondered what his friend was trying to figure out.

After another pile of pancakes, he and Ratchet left to head over to the west pasture to check the fences. Seemed like they were finding broken sections at least once a week now, which was pissing them all off.

Chapter 9

Tick turned the wrench, thinking about what Charity had told him this morning. He’d been pissed off ever since and he couldn’t figure out why. It was Friday and she’d told him that she had a date tonight. He hadn’t been in a better mood when this damned tractor had broken down for the fourth time this week. He was getting really pissed off at whoever was tampering with the equipment. When they finally discovered who the hell was messing with the equipment he was going to beat the shit out of them.

Between this tractor and Charity he was in a very foul mood. He’d been working on this damned tractor for three hours in the north pasture. Hoping to get it fixed. They needed to finish with this field today. They needed to get it planted, but they couldn’t do it without the plow that was attached to the tractor, and it looked like this wasn’t going to get done today. He’d just figured out that it was the damned fuel line. Someone had put water in the gas, and now he was going to have to take it back to the main barn, so that he could flush the whole fuel system.

He wiped his brow with his arm when he finally crawled out from under the tractor. He wanted to get ten minutes alone with their sabotager. For the last ten months the person had been causing trouble. At first they had thought it was just the age of the tractor and farm equipment, but then the newer ones had started breaking down. Now whoever it was doing this shit wasn’t trying to hide it anymore. He was just trying to taunt them with what he could manage from right under their noses.

Being the only two mechanics he and Ratchet were spread thin, so thin Tick barely had time to spend with his kid anymore. Trick was sending him a new prospect that was supposed to be fairly good mechanic, but he really needed either Tiny or Slim. Both men were damned good mechanics. He understood why Bone wasn’t sending hi
m
either man though. Tiny’s woman Racheal, a damned good mechanic in her own right, was pregnant. That meant she wasn’t safe here until they figured out who was causing all the trouble. So far it hadn’t gotten dangerous and no one had been hurt, but it was only a matter of time.

They’d had a few near misses, but with the escalation he was afraid it would happen. Slim was a no go because Lisa was a new mother and leaving a child without his father was never a good idea. And he’d be out of his mind to ask Bone to send Molly. Lifting his phone to his ear he called Ratchet. He needed the tow truck out here to tow this thing back to the farm.

He was looking at the fence, and noticed another section down again. Cursing he ran a hand over his head, almost growling in frustration. This had to stop, whoever was doing this shit was running them all ragged.

“Yeah?” Ratchet answered.

“I need this thing towed to the main barn. I also found another section of broken fence.” Tick told him wearily.

“Fuck, you’ve got to be kidding me we just fixed that fence yesterday. That’s the fourth time this week. Who the hell is doing this Tick?”

“I have no fucking idea. I think it’s gotta be someone who works here. Either a farm hand or one of the prospects. It’s the only damned thing that makes any sense. We need to discuss it with Bone and Tank. Then maybe in church next week. This shit has got to stop.”

“Yeah, I’m all for a break. I agree about who’s doing it, been thinking that myself. Okay I’ll send Mark and Rock out there to help you fix it, and Colt can bring the tow truck. What was wrong with it anyway?” Ratchet asked his voice sounding resigned.

“Fuel line has water.” Tick informed him.

“Fuck, this shit has got to stop. Alright expect them in about twenty.”

“Okay.” Tick hung up and after a quick inspection of the fence, he lay back in the grass to wait on them to come out to help thinking about the Charity date situation.

Tick walked into the living room with Max who’d been a little demon tonight. He was already in a terrible mood and Max’s attitude wasn’t helping.

“Why does she have to go out tonight? She should read to me.” Max told his father glaring at him as if it were his fault.

He’d like nothing better than to tell her she wasn’t allowed to go out with that yahoo. But he couldn’t, damn it. He had no real claim on the woman. He was coming to realize though, that he wanted to have a claim.

That made him a bit unsettled. He knew that losing Vivi had nearly killed him and he’d decided after that that he wouldn’t ever care for another woman like he had Vivi. He didn’t profess to be in love or anything of that sort with Charity, but he was feeling a bit possessive. Maybe it was the fact that she’d made their lives better. She fit here. She fit them. Max liked her and he enjoyed her cooking. Not to mention he’d like to fuck her into tomorrow.
