I hear a grin in his voice, but I am less interested in his assessment than in the actual details. “You tattled on her? How did you find out? What did you say? Who told you she got spanked?”
I am hungry for the facts that will give me some assurance the scales of justice are at least partially balanced. And that is one thing I will not say sorry for when I write the note of apology I know Hale will require and will see is delivered. But fair is fair, after all, and I think, having come this far, he cannot deny me some satisfaction.
“I prefer to think I may have helped redeem one very naughty young lady -- besides my own, of course. As for how I found out, it was through patient, private searching. It seems The Line may not be quite as protective of identity as everyone supposes. I huff a little. And I probably roll my eyes. He lets it go, even though I’m sure he knows. “I still don’t trust her,” I grump.
“You don’t have to. You just have to consider this. If you ever cross The Line again, I’ll make sure word of your punishment follows you there in great detail for everyone who is interested to read. Both this session, and the one that would follow it, of course.”
I shudder, because I know he will make good on his threat if push comes to shove. In fact, he will probably make me write and post the sorry story myself if I don’t resist the temptation to check things out there. I find the prospect completely overrides any curiosity I may entertain as to her compliance or any need I may have to get in the last printed word. “I won’t. I swear, Hale. I’ll never go there again. Or anywhere like it. I’ve learned my lesson.” I turn my head to stare up at him earnestly as he looms above me, balanced on one elbow.
“I trust you have, sweetheart. Just as I trust she won’t be interested in a return visit either, and for the very same reason.” His grin is so filled with self-satisfaction I would honestly love to poke him where he is most tender, but I refrain and content myself with a wry twist of my lips, a tiny shake of my head, and a wince-producing clench of my sensitive nether regions when he reminds me of the power of his persuasion: “The number of girls standing in Line for a spanking has just grown shorter by two, I really do think, Miss Emma. And it’s all right now. Do you believe me?”
Well really, what is there left for me to say, as I relax fully into his love, except, “Oh, Hale, yes.”
