She gave herself over to his skilled lips. And within seconds, she was lost in his heated mouth. One kiss melted into another, and desire grew thick and heavy. She pressed closer, rubbing up against his fly. He moaned and pulled his lips from hers, trailing kisses down her neck as he scooped her up in his arms.

“Your shoul—der,” she said, her voice halting when he sucked on a spot behind her ear.

Without answering, he carried her across the room to a hidden door behind a huge plastic plant. Through the door was a stairwell that led up. Beau took the stairs two at a time, seemingly unconcerned with the extra weight he carried. At the top of the second flight, he turned and headed down a dimly lit corridor to a door that was cracked open. Beau kicked it the rest of the way before carrying Jenna through Miss Hattie’s closet to the bedroom.

He stopped by the huge bed that covered one entire wall and released her, allowing her to slip down the planes of his deliciously hard body. The bedside lamp was on, the multicolored lampshade reflecting in his eyes.

“Now would be the time to say no,” he said.

It probably would’ve been the smart thing to do. With all that had happened that night, she was probably working more on emotions than logical thought. Her gaze settled on his mouth. A mouth that held not a trace of a smile. And Beau without a smile just didn’t seem right.

She reached out and ran a finger over his bottom lip. “After you impressed me with that trip up two flights of stairs? Not likely.”

Beau’s lips curved up, and he nipped at her finger. “Saddle up, Blondie, because you’re in for a wild ride.”

She cocked her head. “Is that a challenge, Beauregard?”

“Damn straight,” he whispered right before he pulled her down to the bed.

They barely stopped bouncing before Jenna rolled on top and straddled him. “Well, I do love a challenge.” She grabbed the front of his shirt and jerked open the snaps. But before she could even contemplate feasting on all his tanned skin and hard muscle, he rolled her back over.

“No more than I do, sweetheart.” He reached for the front of her shirt, but he didn’t yank quite as hard as Jenna had. In fact, he took his time, undoing each snap with a gentle tug. He smoothed back the edges, and his eyes turned hot as he looked down at her bare breasts. Lifting a finger, he traced around each one.

“Did I tell you how much I love your underwear?” he said, his voice low and sexy. “Or maybe I should say your lack of underwear.” He continued to caress her, his finger
brushing first one nipple and then the other, tightening them into hard points of need.

“Beau,” she breathed.

His gaze lifted. The heat in his eyes sent another wave of desire rippling through her body, but it was nothing compared to the shock wave that hit her when he dipped his head and pulled her nipple into his hot, wet mouth. He gently sucked, rolling it against his rough tongue, and she literally saw stars—little spots of light danced behind her eyelids. It was like there was a string that ran from her breast to the point between her legs. With every stroke of his tongue and every pull of his lips, the string was yanked a little tighter until Jenna was nothing but a twitching ball of pent-up desire waiting to be released.

Then suddenly, Beau released her breast and climbed off her, leaving only the cool air on her wet nipple. She opened her eyes to see him stripping off his jeans and boxers. She caught a glimpse of his tanned butt before he stood back up and turned to her.

“Holy smokes,” she breathed as her gaze settled on Beau’s hard length.

He laughed. “I’m going to take that as a compliment.” He reached for her boot and pulled it off, followed by her sock.

“It wasn’t a compliment as much as an exclamation,” she said as she slipped off her shirt and reached for the button of her jeans. “I guess what they say about big feet is true.”

He pulled off the other boot and sock before holding up her bare foot. “And how does that work for girls? Big feet, big…”

“Hair.” She smirked.

“And you’ve got your fair share of that, Blondie.” With a yank, he pulled off her jeans and suddenly she was as naked as the day she was born. Since Davy was the only man who had ever seen her completely naked, she thought she would be embarrassed. But Beau didn’t make her feel embarrassed. His heavy-lidded gaze made her feel beautiful and sexy. “Pretty blond hair that I really want to touch.”

Somehow she didn’t think he was talking about the hair on her head. This was confirmed when he dropped her jeans and moved closer to the bed, his gaze never leaving the juncture of her thighs. He took her foot in his hand and slowly caressed the instep as he spread her legs.

Okay, so now she was embarrassed. She pulled her foot from his hand, but before she could close her legs, he was resting between them, his face inches from her most private parts.

“And maybe I don’t want to touch you as much as taste you,” he whispered right before his mouth covered her.

Jenna’s eyes slammed shut as heat shot through her. Beau tasted like he kissed, with gentle sips and plenty of tongue. His hands slipped beneath her hips, and he lifted her closer, manipulating her against his mouth. Once he had done a thorough tasting, he settled into a rhythm of tongue flicks that left her mindless.

Her fingers dug into the satin sheets as the pressure built. And built. And built. “Oh Beau,” she panted. She lifted her hips and clamped her thighs against his head as her orgasm shattered around her. “Oh Beau!”

Once all the tension drained out of her body and she
sagged back down into the mattress, Beau lifted his head and grinned. “That good, huh?”

If she’d had the strength, she would’ve rolled her eyes. Instead, all she could do was watch as Beau sat up on the edge of the bed and reached for the nightstand drawer. When he returned, he wasted no time slipping deep inside her still quivering body. He was big, but not too big. The fit felt tight and wonderful.

Beau must’ve thought so too because he closed his eyes and released a satisfied groan. “Damn.”

“That good, huh?” she teased.

His eyes opened, but he didn’t smile. “You don’t know the half of it, sweetheart.”

He kissed her, a thorough kiss that left her almost as breathless as his words. Then he started to move, slow and steady strokes that brought her desire back to the surface. Except he didn’t look as if he was enjoying it as much as Jenna was. In fact, he almost looked like he was in pain. His eyes were clamped shut, and his breath hissed from between his lips. It didn’t dawn on her what was wrong until he spoke.

“I’m sorry,” he gritted out, “but I can’t—”

“It’s okay.” Jenna brushed her fingertips over his face, trying to ease out the tension. “Don’t rush it. If you can’t come, you can’t come. We’ll just keep trying until you do.”

He stopped moving, and his eyes opened. “What?”

She cradled his jaw in her hands. “There’s nothing to be embarrassed about, Beau. Impotency is a problem lots of men have. But I’m not going to give up. Would it help if I used my mouth—or maybe we should try another position? You could get behind me and—”

Beau thrust into her, banging the heavy, wooden
headboard into the wall. He continued to pump as his muscles tightened and his face contorted with pleasure. Jenna wasn’t sure what was going on until Beau slumped over her.

“You had an orgasm?” she asked.

He released his breath in a long sigh before he lifted his head. He didn’t exactly look happy. “Yes. And you might have gotten another one if you hadn’t been so busy trying to save me.”

“But you said you couldn’t—”

“I was going to say I can’t wait. And then you started spouting off about what you were going to do to fix things, and I really couldn’t wait.”

“So you don’t have a problem?”

A smile broke over his face. Not his usual smile, but devilry mixed with a touch of humor. “If it means that we get to try some of the things you mentioned,” he leaned down and brushed his lips over hers, “then yes, I’ve got a problem. A very big problem.”

Jenna woke to the disconcerting feeling of being watched. She cracked open her eyes. But instead of seeing the silver-haired cowboy who had rocked her world with numerous mind-blowing orgasms, she saw nothing but rumpled satin sheets.

Yawning, she stretched her hands over her head and rolled to her back, then almost jumped out of her skin when she saw Starlet standing by the open door.

“Holy crap!” Jenna sat straight up. When she realized she was buck-naked, she grabbed the sheet and jerked it over her. Her face burned with embarrassment at being caught red-handed in Beau’s bed. Unfortunately,
there was no help for it now so she tried to bluff her way through. “Geez, Starlet. You scared the heck out of me.”

Starlet looked almost pleased by the information. “Minnie said that you need to get dressed and get out of Miss Hattie’s room so I can clean it for the next occupants.”

“Oh. Okay.” She swung her legs over the edge of the bed and waited for Starlet to leave, but the girl didn’t seem to be in any hurry.

Starlet wandered over to the window and looked out. She might be a little overweight, but she was one of the prettiest women Jenna had ever seen. Her hair was curly and rich brown, her nose small and perfect, and her lips plump and full. And her eyes were dark with a seductive tilt to them.

She turned those eyes on Jenna. “Beau said that he loved you. Do you love him?”

The question took Jenna aback, especially when her body was still tingly from Beau’s lovemaking. Of course, it hadn’t been lovemaking. Love hadn’t entered into it. She and Beau had just had sex.

Wonderful, glorious, orgasmic sex.

Jenna’s face got even hotter, and Starlet’s face fell.

“So you do love him?” She moved away from the window and shook her head. “Of course you love him. Who wouldn’t love Beau? He’s beautiful, and sweet, and funny. And when he smiles my heart almost—”

“Jumps clean out of your chest,” Jenna finished, although she didn’t have a clue where the words had come from.

“Exactly.” Starlet flopped down on the bed next to Jenna, her shoulders slumped. “So I guess you’re going to get married.”

Suddenly figuring out how she could make Starlet feel better, Jenna shook her head. “No. I’m afraid that Beau isn’t the marrying kind. He’s not going to give up his traveling lifestyle for a wife and kids.”

Starlet looked up. “He’s not?”

“No.” Jenna tried to look as forlorn as possible. “In fact, you and I are in the same Beau-lovin’ boat.”

“Except you had sex with him.”

Jenna cleared her throat. “True, but it will only make his leaving that much harder.”

It took a while for Starlet to mull this over, and while she did, Jenna studied the busting seams of her teal prom dress. Why would a college-aged woman wear ugly prom dresses every day? Of course, Jenna had known a girl in high school who wore leotards and tights every day to school. But Ester May had wanted to be a ballerina in a bad way, and her parents had flat refused to pay for ballet lessons when Ester was as clumsy—

Jenna looked up at Starlet’s face. A beautiful face that some boys might overlook because of a little extra weight.

“I like your dress,” Jenna said, startling Starlet out of her thoughts. “I always wanted to go to prom, but no one ever asked me.”

Starlet’s eyes widened. “They didn’t? But you’re skinny.”

“And a little masculine and competitive,” she said. “I think the boys were scared I’d whup their butts if they tried anything.”

Starlet laughed, but her humor died quickly. She picked at a hangnail on her thumb. “I got asked to prom. Tommy Milner was the most popular boy in school. I should’ve known that he was just kidding. Of course, that’s what I
get for spending five months of my Putt-Putt salary on a dress and shoes.”

“So he didn’t show up?” Jenna asked, even though she knew the answer.

Starlet surprised her by shaking her head. “No, he showed up. He showed up at midnight with all his drunk friends. But he wasn’t there to see me as much as my mama, who had stopped by my Auntie and Uncle Bernard’s on her way through town.” She smiled. “My mama has always been a favorite with the men. It runs in our blood, you know.”

It was about the saddest story Jenna had ever heard, and if Tommy Milner had been there, she would’ve kicked his ass from one side of Texas to the other—along with Starlet’s mama. Of course, now Jenna had a mama just like that.

“I’m sorry.” Jenna reached out and took Starlet’s hand. “But you can’t let things that happen in the past dictate how you live your life. You’re a beautiful woman with a kind heart. And one day, a really special man is going to realize that.”

“But not Beau.” Starlet smiled sadly.

Jenna felt as sad as Starlet looked. “No,” she said, “not Beau.”

Starlet nodded. “I guess I always knew it. I just have a hard time accepting things.” She looked back at Jenna. “I lied before when I said Minnie wanted you out of Miss Hattie’s room. I was the one who wanted you out—”

“Well, if it isn’t two of my favorite girls.” Beau walked in the door, carrying a tray that was piled high with food. Suddenly, Jenna was starving. She just didn’t know if it was for the wonderful-smelling breakfast or the sexy-looking cowboy.

Flashing a smile at Starlet that turned her face crimson, Beau set the tray on the nightstand and leaned over to give Jenna a kiss. It was only a mere brush of lips, but it sent a tingle through her body that made her realize she was hungrier for the man than the food.

“Good mornin’,” he said.

Jenna felt her face heat and knew she blushed as brightly as Starlet. “Good mornin’.”

A door clicked closed, and they both glanced over to see that Starlet had left.

“I guess she’s pretty hurt,” Beau said as he walked to the door and locked it.

“I think she’ll get over it.” Jenna reached for a piece of bacon. “I tried to make her see that you’re not a happily-ever-after kind of guy.”

He hesitated on his way back to the bed, his hands hovering over the snaps of his shirt. For a second, she thought her words had hurt him, but then he tugged open his shirt and continued to the bed.
