I moan, wanting his cock inside me as his hand slips away, and he asks, “Are you going to be sick or something?”

Huh?

“Ms. Bates!”

At his shout, I force my eyes open, cheeks flushing at the concerned look on his face.

“Ah…” I swallow, giving him a weak smile. “I’m sorry. I was lost in thought.”

He stares at me and I resist the urge to look away. Finally, he stands up and comes around to sit on the edge of his desk, mouth set in a grim line.

“I had no idea your father was having such a bad time. I would’ve helped him.”

I start at the mention of my father, my eyes rounding in surprise. “You knew my father?”

“I’ve been going to the diner three mornings a week for years,” he informs me. “Your father was a kind man.”

“Years?” I’m confused and it shows. “But I didn’t see you there until six months after I took over.”

He sighs. “Your father was like my dad away from home. We spent a lot of time together when I wasn’t busy. Right before he died, we went fishing.” He gets up and walks over to the window and stares out. “He had a lot of regrets; one of them involved his daughter whom he said he hadn’t seen in years.”

My stomach drops and I can’t breathe. I clutch the arms of my chair, but he doesn’t notice since he’s faced away.

“He talked about her all the time. Every single time we went fishing, she was on his mind. I asked him once, after a year of those trips, what she looked like. ‘Raven black hair’ he said, ‘with eyes that are sometimes grey and at other times blue,' but with the face of an angel, unlike him. He was full of pride, never saying a bad word about her, talking about how she was off at college and would be the first in the family to graduate. So, on our last fishing trip, I finally asked him, what’s her name?”

Tobias turns around, his eyes blazing with desire as they land on me. “He said, ‘Her name is Jocelyn, but ever since she was a little girl, she’s always been my Luna.’”

At that, I jump up and run for the door.

He’s quick, catching me before I get very far and twirls me around, trapping me between his body and the wall.

His grasp is gentle as he takes my chin in hand, his eyes glinting with lust as he grins at me.

I’m not afraid. I knew he’d catch me when I’d chosen to run.

He bends his head, pressing our lips together for just a moment, then pulls away.

“Game’s over, Luna,” he whispers. “I win.”

I smile and close my eyes, bringing his mouth back to mine, knowing that he has no idea at all.

The game isn’t over.

It’s just getting started.

Surrender To You

“Looking for me?”

Son of a…

At the deep voice, shock and irritation flooded through me. Turning to my right, my eyes landed on Stefan Pierce standing there with his hands in his pockets, the scowl on his face at odds with the gleam in his dark blue eyes. I couldn’t tell if he was happy to see me or royally ticked off. Probably the latter, since he’d no doubt been wrangled into coming to pick me up from the airport.

I, on the other hand, would be having a nice long chat with my mother when I got home.

“Nope, I wasn’t. I guess I’m gonna be renting a car since the person who was supposed to pick me up didn’t show.”

Now it was his turn to be shocked and I had to hold back a smile as his mouth dropped open just a little. Before he could say anything, I started to walk away, heading toward baggage claim.

“Didn’t you bother to check your text messages? Or did you just assume nothing ever changes?”

I stopped abruptly and whirled around. “Wow, you’re a bright one aren’t you? When would you have liked me to check my messages, on the airplane? Perhaps you didn’t notice I was looking down at my phone about to do that very thing when you said ‘looking for me’ so arrogantly?”

He blinked. “I wasn’t —”

“Yeah, you were. Now get lost.”

I was being rude, but I didn’t care. I didn’t want to see him at his mother’s house, let alone have him pick me up from the airport. What the hell had my mother been thinking? Did she want me to turn right around and go back to my apartment?

Stefan chose that moment to stalk toward me, stopping within inches of slamming into me and grabbed my upper arms with his hands.

“What’s your deal? Don’t you think I’ve got enough shit going on without you giving me attitude?”

Surprised by the gentleness of his grasp, which happened to be at odds with the muted irritation in his voice, I stood mute and really looked at him.

He hadn’t changed much over the years. He had never been very athletic, preferring simple things like bike riding to playing sports and enjoyed conquering computer games in his spare time. At only five foot six, I’d always found his height perfect because I could still wear heels and not feel either too short or too tall next to his five foot ten frame. His dark red hair was closely cropped and a small smattering of freckles graced his nose.

It was then, while looking at his face, that I saw he hadn’t shaved today — and the lines of worry that hadn’t been there before. He didn’t look as youthful, the years having taken their toll on him. But at thirty years old, he still looked pretty damned tasty.

Captive at Christmas

By

Danielle Taylor

After a particularly harsh break-up, Hannah Magnus decides to spend Christmas away from her Vancouver home, enjoying a little time for herself, and picking up the pieces of her broken heart. She crosses the border into Washington State and locates the idyllic cabin that will serve as her home for the next two weeks.

Mackenzie Dunlop is a man of action and reaction. A creation of his past and his profession. When he travels to the cabin he rented to stay in until the repairs on his house are complete, there is a surprise waiting...and Mac loathes surprises.

Thrown together in the least likely of circumstances, Mac and Hannah find solace in each other after a harrowing event. But the future holds no promise for either of them. Distance and circumstances stand in their way. Will love prevail? Or will Hannah and Mac remain two solitary souls sharing love and memories, living separate lives?

Excerpt:

“Who sent you?”

Hannah stared at him. Her eyes flashed, terror widening her pupils. Her lips parted, tongue darted out to wet them. “I don’t understand…” She inhaled, a sharp sound.

Mac’s lips curled into a sneer. If she started blubbering, he’d lose his lunch. He hated to admit, but she was good.

“This…this is my rental. I…”

Mac shook his head. Disbelief wrinkled his brow.

She sucked in another lungful of air, forcing the dusky rose tips of her nipples above the water. His gaze shot there. Christ, how he wanted to swap the gun for a handful of those soft-looking mounds of flesh.

Pull your fucking head out of the goddamned gutter, Dunlop!

Hell, who was he kidding? What man wouldn’t stare at a gorgeous rack, especially when the woman was too terrified to cover herself?

Probably just him.

“Are you trying to tell me that you rented this cabin?”

“Yes,” she replied quickly. “The rental agreement is…I…I’m sorry, but, the” – her eyes flicked to his hands –“the gun…i-is it necessary?”

He snorted. “You’ve got no fuckin’ idea, lady.”

She flinched. Due to the repeat of the curse word, or the gun held to her, he didn’t know. Maybe a combination of both.

“O-okay.” She swallowed.

Mac watched the change in her, slumped shoulders, resigned sigh. The slight tremble of her lip. The woman brought an arm across her breasts, blocking his view. “Can I get out of here and put something on then? I’d rather not die naked in a tub, if that’s alright with you.”

For a moment, he stared at her. Where had the fear gone?

Then Mac burst out laughing at the image of a coroner discovering the nude body of anyone in the bathtub, not just Hannah Magnus, could-be spy and hired gun.

Finding Destiny

By

Christa Simpson

(Unedited and subject to change.)

Matty turned back to Destiny. “Our cabin is close. You’d better hold on tight. I like to drive fast.”

It was then when Destiny realized what a sweetheart Skylar was. She had already thought it was pretty adorable when he offered her his helmet, but now that she realized it was to protect her from Matty’s maniac driving, she liked it that much more. She pulled on the helmet and was instantly flooded with the most sensual scent that had to be Skylar. She took a deep breath, inhaling the scent like it was an erotic elixir, and linked her arms back around Matty’s waist.

When Matty took off, she let out a squeal and squeezed onto his waist a little tighter.

“That’s more like it,” he hollered back to her.

All of his comments seemed to be playful and had a lewd intention tacked onto them. For some reason that didn’t even bother her. Matty appeared to be the fun, edgy one in the bunch. He didn’t mind getting into a little trouble and it seemed like he did his best to do just that.

Destiny held on tight, as they flew past Skylar and sped alongside a deep, snow covered ditch.

She knew Matty was only trying to show off but, when they were the first ones to slide up to the cabin, she couldn’t wipe the grin off her frozen face.

The ride was exhilarating and when Matty said he was going to drive fast, he wasn’t lying. He noticed her smile when she tore off Skylar’s helmet.

“You think that ride was fun, just imagine how much fun we could have in the bedroom.”

When he waggled his eyebrows, Destiny couldn’t help but giggle. He made her laugh, and he was a good looking man, but it was Skylar who caught her eye the second he pulled up with Natalie in tote. His hair was all wayward and sprinkled with snowflakes, but it was sexy.

Natalie appeared to have a good, tight hold on him. Destiny wondered why that bothered her, as she shook out her long blonde hair behind her and propped Skylar’s helmet onto her hip. Destiny continued to watch Skylar, as he helped her friend to her feet. He looked like the boy next door, with a mysterious sex appeal. She wanted to call him your average nice guy, but those whisky colored eyes couldn’t be categorized with average.

She imagined what it would be like to run her fingers through that messy, brown hair and to see that smile appear on his face because of something she said. She also wondered why she found herself day dreaming about this man who she hadn’t even said a single word to.

When Skylar stepped toward her, she noticed how his eyes slipped down her body and landed on his helmet braced firmly on her hip. She held her breath, thrilled by the sensual scrutiny, only to realize that she had a death lock on his equipment.
