Carrying the glasses, Egan joined her on the sofa. “The first time can be overwhelming.” He handed her the warm glass. “We have plenty of nourishment, so take your time.”

Harper took a sip. The blood was rich and tangy, utterly delicious. She wanted to suck it all down.

Egan touched her arm. “Easy.”

She hissed, showing him her fangs.

“I’m not taking it away. Drink like a lady. Getting bloodstains out of the sofa fabric is a real bitch.”

Harper laughed at his joke, but she realized she’d have to control her urges. With Egan’s help she’d succeed. “I’ll try to be careful.”

She took another drink. Here she was underground which kind of gave her the willies, drinking blood in a classy place with the most handsome man she’d ever seen at her side. She glanced at the ring on her finger. She might be a vampire but she had what she’d always wanted, to love and be loved. Harper raised her glass. “Forever together.”

Egan touched his glass to hers. “Forever together.”

She drank the entire glass. She’d practice being a lady tomorrow. “I love you, Egan.”

He leaned over and licked the blood off her lips. “I love you, Harper. Shall I pour us another glass?”

Harper licked her fangs. “Yes, I’d love one.”
