“Yes.” He bites my lip and cups the back of my head with one hand while the other palms my ass. “Sexy. Amazing.”

I increase the amplitude of my strokes, surfing the break of ecstasy as it grows and grows to legendary proportions.

“Fly, Sarah.”

A cry reverberates through the afternoon air. I’m not sure if it belongs to me or one of the rare eagles circling high above us.

A powerful blast of pleasure knocks me over. Rick picks up my slack, hammering into me from below while I unravel. He extends my climax until I’m begging for mercy.

I collapse in a boneless heap when he withdraws his cock and extracts himself from below me. I don’t have to mourn the loss for long. Next thing I know, I’m on my side with him at my back, spooning me. He reaches between our legs to reinsert his thick erection into my still-spasming channel.

“Ah, that’s right.” He groans when my aftershocks travel along his length. “Now with me.”

“I can’t.” I hope my wide eyes convey the insanity of his suggestion. With my world shaken apart I’m happy to receive his release then snuggle the rest of the day away in a passion-induced coma. “Fill me, Rick. Come in me.”

He only smiles, slow and wide.

The first pump of his hips proves he intends to make the most of the leverage he’s gained from our new position. He angles his hips then powers into me once more, nailing the spot guaranteed to make me see the stars I named my window persona after.

“Maybe just once more.” I whimper. Every time I think it can’t possibly get better, he proves me wrong.

He laughs.

“A whole lifetime of this, baby.” He brushes my hair aside then focuses on my neck. The strong sucking kisses will leave a bright purple mark that I will wear proudly. “I won’t settle for less.”

His fingers pinch my nipples then walk south to the apex of my thighs. He ferrets out my clit and rubs in small circles timed to the crescendoing beat of his fucking. Miraculously, my body responds. The ridge of his cock head is strangled by the dense ring of muscle at the entrance of my pussy. Every time they lock together, a shiver of pure passion runs through me.

“Starting now,” he roars.

“No.” I can’t help but correct him. “Started the first time. Saw you.”

“Yes. Fuck. Yes.” Rick cups my breast in his hand, not so much to stimulate nerves already far beyond caring but to hold on tight, to join us through the typhoon of bliss that rocks our boat bed nearly as savagely as it does my soul.

The first warm blast of his release inside me incites my orgasm. I service many men. Only Rick is granted this intimate privilege. The fierce squeeze of my pussy ejects him from within me. We both cry out at the loss. The resulting streaks of his come on my belly make me glad for the proof of his ownership. He reaches down and guides himself into the warmth of my body while his cock still pumps.

Each pulse sears my tissue with welcome heat that overflows my pussy. He remains buried, the evidence of our coupling sealing us. Huge bellows of his lungs glue me against his chest. My fingers grip his forearm where it bands across the underside of my breasts.

Still he never lets go and neither do I.

because reality is better than your dreams.” ~Dr. Suess

We stay still and quiet so long I feel the need to whisper, “Are you awake?”

“Yep. I used to have a bad habit of conking out after a solid fuck.” He smiles as he cups my cheek in his palm and tilts my face toward him for another kiss, this time infinitely tender. “That never happens with you.”

“Maybe I’m not tiring you out thoroughly?” I roll to face him then slide my hand down his chest, over the ridges and planes of his taut abdomen.

“That’s definitely not it.” He traps my fingers, laces his through mine and rests the interlocked digits over his heart. I snuggle into the warmth still radiating off him in waves. “No matter how easy it’d be to close my eyes, I’d rather watch you.”

“Spending time like this…” I burrow deeper into his embrace, nestling my face in the crook of his shoulder and neck before whispering in his ear, “Is the best thing in the world.”

“I don’t believe you.” His quick denial has me retreating to stare into his eyes directly.

I brace my palms on his chest and prepare to insist before his grin registers on me.

“I’ve seen you devour those fancy mango pastries from Huize van Wely. Pretty sure those are your favorite things.”

“Maybe I need another taste of you to be sure.” I lick my lips then shift my pelvis against his mostly flaccid cock. All for show. I’m as sated as he appears.

Rick groans. “Don’t distract me. I’m trying to be nice, not naughty.”

He chuckles when I freeze. “Are you saying…?”

“Yeah. I might be. Let me grab the backpack.” He flings out an arm without putting too much distance between us.

The unmistakable black-and-gold box he extracts from his bag wrings a moan from me.

Though I’d have been satisfied with gooey caramel sandwiched between the cinnamon wafers of a cheap stroopwaffle from the market near our houseboat or a slice of Gouda from our favorite
fromagerie
on Marnixstraat, I can’t deny the sight of the gourmet confection has my mouth watering.

I do my best not to sit up and beg like a dog snuffling around beneath the Christmas spread for scraps.

“Here.” He stacks several pillows into a cushy wedge then helps me recline, half sitting. “I sort of forgot utensils. I’ll feed it to you.”

I’m sure that after indulging such decadence I’ll volunteer to chair the Death to Forks campaign. I open my mouth when he scoops up a portion of bright yellow goo along with some fancy chocolate garnish on a crumble of the tasty cookie crust. Unwilling to let a single molecule go to waste, I lick his fingers clean.

Again and again he indulges my sweet tooth, taking only tiny samples of the confection direct from my lips. When he transfers the last bite to my mouth, I sigh.

“I bought another one, the champagne kind.” I don’t like the line that crinkles his brow. “Maybe we should save it for later.”

“What are you planning to celebrate?” As if this connection isn’t enough.

“I—” He clears his throat then takes a deep breath. I start to worry around the time he shakes his head as though arguing with himself. “Nothing. Well, just us I suppose.”

Instead of pressuring him, I’ve found it’s best to let Rick broach weighty topics in his own time. I don’t harp on him if I can avoid it. Not after observing his parents snap at each other over everything from which restaurant was best for our dinner out to who loves him the most. I can understand why they divorced, but not how they can obviously still harbor feelings for each other. That constant tension would be enough to kill any attraction.

What will distract him enough to still the fingertips drumming on his thigh?

“I think us is pretty spectacular. Plenty of reason to toast.” I nip his lower lip. “So what is it about us and making love in boats, hmm?”

He rests his forehead on mine and smiles. Score one for great sex as a diversion. “I’m not sure, but I think that’s a trend we should continue.”

“What do you mean? You want to head home? I thought we were having dinner with Adelbert? Or are you ready for round two right here?” As much as I adore carnal explorations, I would be lying if I denied I had hoped for some time, just the two of us, confiding in each other and lazing the afternoon away.

“Shh…” He curtails my rambling with a kiss. “Relax, Sarah. I’m not rushing us out or anything. It’s just… I sort of had a plan coming into today. And then you changed my glide path without realizing it. You got me wondering, and now I think we should take a sharp left turn. But I like the road we’re on and I’m not sure I want to veer off this course.”

Before I can ask about what, he continues. “You know what you said outside of Centraal, about the swingers’ clubs? Do you think fate is trying to tell us something since one of them is a big-ass boat?”

“Ohhhh. Yeah. I’ve heard rumors about the ritzy one on the out-of-service ferry. Isn’t it called the
Love Boat
? One problem, I think couples have to be approved members. The waiting list is supposedly longer than one of Mari’s bar tabs.” Our friend, the prostitute who works the window across from mine, has a love of all things alcoholic. “We could put in an application if you’d like to try it.”

“Or I could cash in a favor from the owner, seeing as he’s Tommy’s best friend and I’ve worked shifts for him on occasion.” Rick wiggles his eyebrows.

“Why am I not surprised?” I swallow hard as my breathing turns shallow. I rub against him like a cat in heat, soothing the dull ache in my nipples.

“You sure you like the idea?” His fingers slip between my thighs, probing my moist entrance, still slick with the residue of his claim.

“In theory. Fantasizing about it with you is turning me on.” Understatement of the century.

“I noticed.” He brings his hand to his mouth and licks the juice from it with more relish than I reserved for the last crumb of my tartlet. “But the reality?”

“Are you sure that’s what you want? I’m afraid of jeopardizing what we have for a night of fun.”

“If it didn’t scare me away to watch my friends fuck you or to know that you’re servicing customers all night, every night, why would this be any different? I love watching you revel in your freedom.”

“Okay.” I squeeze my eyes shut. Time to get painfully honest. “What if I’m afraid of seeing you enjoy yours?”

“Then I won’t—”

“No!” I try to sit up but he keeps me by his side.

“It’s all right, Sarah.”

“It’s not.” I shake my head. Every nightmare I’ve kept bottled inside for weeks pours out. “We already discussed this. There’s no double standard. I have to accept this part of you. I want to support you. Hell, it kind of makes me hot but… I’m afraid. The stakes have never been so high before.”

“I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you, Sarah. Anything to be the man you need.”

“Is that why you haven’t visited any women in the district? I know we’re new and fresh, but I thought by now some of that would wear off. That you’d—” I swallow the hypocritical lump in my throat. “I assumed you’d want to play with someone else on occasion. But even Mari says you haven’t…”

He takes my hand and cups it in his, tracing the base of my ring finger. “Maybe it’s me. I thought about it. Tried to a few times. But I just couldn’t get into it enough to go through with it. What you do… We both know it isn’t about the sex for you. For me, it would be. I can’t do that without you. It’s not appealing if you aren’t sharing it with me.”

I breathe deep, bands melting from around my chest.

His eyes close before he opens them, deliberately staring into mine. “I still want to do it. Fuck. I’m so sorry.”

“Rick…”

He grunts.

I crawl beside him then coax him to lie with his head in my lap. He stares up at me while I brush his hair off his forehead. “Never apologize for who you really are. I love all of you. And if this is what you need, you know I’m there. I would never turn you away. Never stop supporting you.”

“I don’t deserve you.” He kisses each of my knuckles.

“Adelbert told me every person in love feels the same way.” I sigh. “I know I do.”

“What?” He would sit up if I took my hand from the base of his neck.

“How can you doubt that for a second, Rick? You accept me for who I am. Given things, that’s something I considered impossible. So how can I do any less for you?”

“I guess you can’t.” The smile that tips up the corner of his mouth is infectious. I beam right back. “I
am
pretty open-minded and all-around awesome.”

I pinch his cheek. He retaliates by tickling me until our heavy discussion evaporates beneath a barrage of laugher. Several minutes filled with rolling around in our makeshift bed don’t add any measure of professionalism or maturity to our bond.

“Truce.” He hugs me tight to him to keep me from moving. Wrapped together in the aftermath of great sex and relaxed from the relief granted by our discussion, a nap would seem highly likely. Neither of us succumbs to sleep, instead reveling in our closeness for several hours of random conversation and shared silence.

Finally, I break the spell. “So, we’re going?”

He doesn’t answer immediately. I don’t let him pretend not to hear me. “Rick?”

“Sure. Sometime.” He nods.

“Tomorrow.” I slap my palm over his open mouth when he would object. “No reason to put it off. Let’s do this. Together. And see where it leads.”

Rick is quiet, gnawing his lip for long seconds. When he nods, it seems as though a huge burden has been lifted from his shoulders. “Okay.”

“Is that what you brought me here to ask? About going to the club?” I hadn’t mentioned the possibility until we were already on our way. Still, it wouldn’t be the first time we shared a brainwave.

“Not exactly.” He rubs my back with gentle strokes.

“Then what—“

“We’d better head in before it gets dark and Adelbert wastes away.” He sits up without meeting my gaze then packs our garbage, and something I can’t quite make out through the growing dusk, into his pack.
