Oh god, his voice. It was always deep, but right now it was bottom-of-the-ocean deep. Raw in a way she hadn’t heard it sound.

“Lucky guess.” She arched her back from the wall, pressing her breasts against his chest. The t-shirt he wore was cool from being outside, but the hard body beneath radiated heat. “Or maybe I read your mind.”

“Yeah?” The corners of his mouth twitched as his free hand slid inside the front of her panties. “Then tell me what I’m thinking right now.”

“That—” She sucked in a sharp breath when he filled her with two fingers.

“That I want to make you come. Right now. That I can’t fucking wait. That’s what I’m thinking.”

“That’s what I was going to say.” The sound of his low chuckle near her ear made her shiver.

“I’ll take that as consent.” He withdrew slowly, dragging his fingers up to her clit, which he circled and rubbed until she was rocking against his touch. He lowered his head, captured her mouth. Kissing. Fucking her mouth with his tongue.

The pressure from his hand…god, so good. Warmth swirled low in her abdomen, that sweet, irresistible tugging of
almost there
. “Please,” she whispered the plea into his mouth.

His growl rumbled against her lips. Then he gave her what she needed. More tongue. More friction. Deeper, harder, faster. That perfect amount of
more
that sent her hurtling over the edge.

“God, that, yes
that
…”

“Fuck, babe, so fucking sexy when you come for me.” But he didn’t stop stroking her, even as her orgasm ebbed. “Again.”

She shook her head. Squirmed beneath his touch, shaking from head to toe. “Can’t.”

He released her wrists, but not to let her go. He cupped her nape hard, tipping her head back, forcing her to meet his eyes. No words needed. His relentless fingers told her what he wanted. What he expected.

Again.

It was too much, too fast, too hard. She couldn’t come again. Not so soon, not without a break. She tried to shake her head, to wriggle free.

He refused to allow it, pressing his forehead to hers, piercing her with his silent, hungry gaze.

Again.

God, the pressure, the heat. There, right
there
. So good, so close— “Davis, god, please…”

A string of curses fanned her ear. Then his tongue was in her mouth, taking full ownership as she bucked and panted through the second wave of blinding sensation.

“Wow,” she said, as her eyes returned from where they’d rolled back into her head. The first thing that came into focus when she opened them was his neck.

A short row of red welts dotted his smooth skin. Fingernail-shaped welts. From her. “Oh my god, I dug my nails in so hard that I cut you. Was that why you swore in my ear?”

“Totally worth it.”

She winced while inspecting the damage. “I’m sorry.”

“I’m not.” Without warning, he scooped her up and strode the short distance to her bedroom. He sat on the edge of her bed, a wicked-hot smile in place on his handsome face. “But say it again if you want to.”

“Sorry?” The question, the word, was out of her mouth before it clicked.

“That’s the one.” He turned her in his arms, settling her face-down on his lap. One hand spanned her back while the other skimmed over the white lace panties she’d chosen. “So fucking pretty.”

Blood rushed to her temples. Oh god, it was happening. He was actually going to spank her.

“You know why I wanted you to wear white lace?”

The large ringlets she’d hurriedly created tumbled around her face when she shook her head.

“Because it’s the perfect thing for a good girl to wear.” He hooked his fingers over the top edge of the panties and slid them down. “But when my good girl breaks the rules, there are consequences.”

His
good girl. That alone undid her. Made her desperate for what would come next. Goose bumps rose beneath his touch. On her ass, on the backs of her legs as he pushed the lace farther. If she didn’t want this, it was time to speak up. Instead, she lifted her hips, wiggled her now-bare bottom.

He smoothed his palm over every inch of her curves. The weight of his hand disappeared…then landed with a firm
smack
.

She gasped, jerked forward, relaxing as he caressed her tingling skin. The touch ended too soon, replaced by the tickle of air as he lifted his hand.

The next smack rang in her ears. Harder than the first, sending a wave of heat across her backside, and driving her breath out in a
whoosh
.

“Too hard?” he asked, leaning over her back while soothing the sting with a soft touch.

“No, I liked it.”

“Good. So did I,” he said, delivering the next paddle, and then another.

Each spank pushed her forward, forced her clit to rub hard against his bent knee. Heat flared from the rough contact, bombarding her from both sides. The sting from his hand. The friction from the denim. And it hurt—but god, it hurt so good.

“Fuck, Brinn, the sounds you make. The way you move.
Fuck.
” He growled when his hand connected with her ass. No sweet reprieve this time, he squeezed her heated flesh hard, then slid his hand between her legs. A feral groan filled the air as he pushed his fingers inside her needy body. “Makes me so fucking hard whenever I touch you.”

She arched to take more, moaning when he moved his fingers inside her. “Fuck me. Fuck me
now
.”

He shifted her off his lap and over the edge of the bed. He tucked her hair behind her ear, stretched her arms above her head and pushed her ankles together. “Oh, yeah, right there, just like that. Don’t move.”

As if she would. Being Davis’s sex toy was hotter than hot. However he wanted her, she was in. “Hurry.”

“On it, babe.” Shirt, jeans, boxers—all hit the floor at light speed. His cock jutted thick and proud from his muscular physique. The simple act of rolling the condom down his length made his biceps and forearms flex. The man was incredible, top to bottom. Inside and out.

Davis stepped behind her, teasing her with the head of his cock while stroking her backside. “Your ass is bright pink.”

“Then I hope you like pink.”

“Right now, it’s my favorite color.” He gripped her hips and pushed inside, fast and deep. “Jesus. How do you feel so fucking good?”

“I was thinking the same thing.”

He pulled out, groaning as he thrust inside again. “Sorry, but this time is going to be fast.”

“No apologizing…unless you want a cute pink butt to match mine.”

His rhythm faltered and he laughed—actually laughed—in the middle of fucking her. “This isn’t going to work,” he said, withdrawing completely.

Before she could sputter out a retraction, Davis shifted her onto her back, covered her with his strong, warm body, and slid home again.

“Yeah, that’s better.” He smoothed her hair from her face. “Best view ever, right here.”

She avoided getting emotional the only way she could—by pulling him down for a kiss. She wrapped her legs around him and tilted her hips.

He answered with another slow, deep thrust. The kind that filled her perfectly. Exquisitely. His tongue swept in and out of her mouth. His hands threaded through her hair. Chest crushed against her breasts, he rocked his hips, moving inside her with controlled intensity. Always connected, worshipping her with every inch of his body. Each strong, deliberate stroke stole her breath, sparked that delicious longing low in her belly. Nudged her closer.

“So sexy,” he whispered into her mouth. “So fucking beautiful.” He slipped his hand beneath her, lifting her higher, holding her exactly where he wanted her. “Give it to me,” he said, his cock hitting that magical, heavenly spot.

Her climax hit hard, forcing her eyes closed, stealing her voice. All she could do was moan and hang on, fingertips curled into his back, heels digging into his butt, as spiraling waves of sensation washed over her.

“Did you come?” she asked after the ability to breathe returned.

His soft chuckle tickled her ear. “Oh yeah. Like rolling thunder.”

“Wow, I’m sorry I missed that.”

“You were a little distracted at the time.”

God, his smile. His eyes. The way he looked at her. Her heart would never survive this
fling
with Davis. The wise thing would be to thank him for the toe-curling orgasms and not see him again. But she’d never been one to make smart choices.

She went for the next best option—keeping things as lighthearted and casual as possible. Let him know she was totally on board with their casual-fucking arrangement. A lie, yes, but she was top salesperson in her district. She just needed to use that skill set with Davis, rather than wearing her heart on her nonexistent sleeve.

She ran her palms over his broad, beautiful back and sighed. “You’re really not very considerate, you know.”

His eyebrows rose, and creases formed at the corners of his twinkling eyes. “Do tell, so I can improve next time.”

“That’s the problem—you’ve already set the bar unrealistically high for the next guy I date. A month from now I’ll be living two hours away and going through batteries like crazy because no human male can live up to your sexpertise.”

The laugh she’d expected didn’t come. Instead, he lifted his weight from her body and rolled to one side—and not simply to ditch the condom. He looked down at her from his propped position, his eyebrows now drawn together over shuttered eyes. “You got the details about your transfer.”

“I did. My district manager gave me the news after we closed.”

He responded with silence. And intent staring.

A chill rippled through her. She grabbed the edge of her quilt and pulled it over, covering what she could with the small swath of available fabric. “It’s a great position. A promotion, not a lateral move. I’ll be managing a million-dollar store in a major mall. That’s almost double the volume we sell in my current location. And it’s a trainee store, so I’ll be expected to recruit and develop assistants to become future store managers. Lots of responsibility and opportunity. Very exciting.”

“Sounds like it. Congratulations.”

“Thanks.” So far, her attempt at light and casual stunk worse than rotten eggs with a glass of sour milk on the side. “So that’s why I stopped by your house earlier. I went there straight from the mall, even though I should’ve known you’d still be at work. I’d just gotten the news and wanted to share it with somebody—” She snapped her mouth shut before the last word snuck out.

“Convenient?”

Special.
“Somebody fun, to help me celebrate.” She swallowed the gross aftertaste created by the shitty fib. “Which you certainly just did, so thank you. Multiple thank yous, actually.”

“You’re welcome.” He dropped a superficial kiss on her lips, then pushed up and off the bed.

Piece by piece, her view disappeared. Boxers and jeans went on, then his t-shirt, socks and shoes, until he stood at the end of the bed, fully dressed and clearly ready to hit the road.

“Sorry you had to see that note from Barb. I’ve told her to leave a phone message or text like the rest of the world does, but she thinks it’s more fun to run next door and stick stuff to my house.”

Thank god she was lying down, because Davis’s bomb would’ve leveled her. “Barb is your
neighbor
?”

He nodded.

“Which side?” She almost didn’t want to hear the answer. Then again, she was pretty sure she didn’t need to hear it to know what it’d be.

“Driveway side. She owns the other house that got robbed Christmas Eve. Alicia, the girl I got the present for, is her daughter.”

Brinn’s stomach churned. She’d waved at that woman earlier. No wonder
Barb
hadn’t waved back—she was the competition. Only it wasn’t a contest and Davis wasn’t the prize, because he didn’t do serious or long-term relationships.

Their random meeting had spawned a date intended to be a one-night stand. He’d only spent Christmas Day with her out of kindness. His suggestion they continue seeing each other had come
after
finding out she wouldn’t be around long.

Well, shame on her. She’d known all of it upfront, yet she’d still gotten swoony over him. She deserved the vomit inching its way up from her stomach. But she’d be damned if she let him see any of that.

She scooted from the bed, dragging the quilt with her. “I guess you’re going home?”

“Probably for the best.”

She swallowed the ball of emotions that’d lodged in her throat. Mummified in pastel patchwork, she crossed the room, bumping the doorframe on her way out. Just say goodnight, lock the door and move on—that’s all she needed to do. She’d survived worse. This little crack in her heart was nothing.

“I got it,” he said, when she fumbled with the apartment’s steel door.

“Thanks.” Cool air from the triplex’s stairwell rushed in as Davis stepped out. “And thank you for tonight. It was really…”
Earthshaking. Intense. Emotional.
“Fun.”

“Yeah. That it was.” He stroked her cheek, cupped her chin and kissed her. Short, but for real this time. “See you around, Manager Brinn.”

She waved through the quilt, waiting until he’d left the building and she’d secured the deadbolt before allowing the useless tears to roll.

* * *

The car was colder than the walk-in freezer at work, but Davis didn’t start the engine. What the hell was his problem? He’d come over here planning to pleasure Brinn until she couldn’t take any more, then ask her out for a nice evening. He’d only accomplished one of those goals. Fuck, had he ever. He’d never been so turned on in his life.

Brinn in white-lace lingerie. The white heels. Her hair done in gorgeous big curls he couldn’t wait to run his fingers through. She’d been the picture of sweet and innocent.

Then he’d corrupted her. Thoroughly. He’d controlled every sexy fucking second, made her come so hard he’d thought she might actually pass out. Best sex ever. Incredible woman looking at him as if he were a god among men. And he’d fucked it all up with his dickhead behavior.

He must be the biggest idiot on the planet. She was giving him everything he wanted. Amazing sex. Great company. No long-term commitment. So why had he acted like a jealous D-bag when she mentioned future boyfriends?
