She loved this wizard with all her heart.
They recovered at their leisure, but finally Ben shifted
onto his side and propped his elbow on the pillow, his head resting in his
palm.
“You know,” he said, “Daniel’s been after me for a while now
to join him and consult on various Enforcer missions. Investigators frequently
work in conjunction with different sections of the Enforcers, don’t they?”
A grin blossomed over Layla’s face. She didn’t even bother
to try to hide her delight at his comment.
“Why yes,” she mimicked surprise. “Yes, I do believe I have
worked with various Enforcers before. Why do you ask?”
“We seem to have quite a partnership going,” Ben murmured
huskily at her. He leaned down to press a kiss to her lips. She loved his
taste, her lips hungrily seeking more from his.
“I think we could work well together in all aspects of our
life,” Ben continued when he pulled back. “What do you think?”
“I love the idea,” she agreed. “We’ve managed to find
justice for the Gower family these last few days, possibly many more families
as well. I think we can do an amazing amount of good together, given enough
time.”
“It’s a deal then. Let’s seal it properly.” Ben snaked an
arm out and pulled her close.
Laughing, Layla willingly fell into his embrace as his lips
ate at her again and again.
