Ten minutes later there was still no sign of Walter.

Kevin spotted a guy about his age sitting alone farther down the bar. Might as well try talking to people one-on-one. Maybe he’d have better luck getting them to open up. He pushed off the stool, then froze. Walter stood at the top of the staircase on the other side of the dining room, watching him.

The stare was intense. Walter parted his lips as if to speak, but the expanse of the bar and dining room still lay between them. He descended the staircase and made his way toward the bar. The crowd of dancing men shifted as the music overhead changed to a new beat. For a moment Walter was out of Kevin’s view.

Then he was back, strolling toward him. The sure steps, the determination on his face, that knowing smirk…it all captivated Kevin. Did everyone else not see him? Not notice? Not want him? Maybe all the guys hitting on Walter wasn’t as ridiculous as it had first seemed. Because now Kevin couldn’t imagine why there weren’t more.

Out of the corner of his eye, Kevin spotted Dylan, the young man he’d met his first night at the club. Dylan waved at Kevin from across the room, where he sat at a table with a young man about his same age. Kevin hoped it was more than a quick hookup. Guys like Dylan deserved to find someone special.

Kevin returned the wave, and, not sure what compelled him, he gave Dylan a thumbs-up. Dylan’s smirk grew as he turned back to the man at his table.

“You know him?”

Kevin jumped at the whispered words in his ear. He spun around and tripped as he took a step back. “Jesus.”

Walter gripped his arm to steady him. That one touch sent Kevin back to the bathroom in Seth Fisher’s apartment, to the bathroom in the diner earlier that day.

“Easy.” Walter’s sexy laugh was back. “I won’t attack you. I never do anything a man doesn’t want.” The slight curve of his lips was also back. “Vargas has to take care of something. He’ll text me when they’ve gotten the video feeds queued up. Maybe an hour.”

“Okay.” Kevin leaned forward, instinctively positioning himself closer to Walter, their bodies almost touching. “Until then, I was thinking we should split up. See if anyone is willing to talk to us alone.” Kevin felt like playing. “I could, uh, I could go talk to some of these guys.” He gestured with his arm to the crowd of dancing men. “Maybe flirt with them. Dance with them.” He took a step toward the dance floor.

“Stop.” Walter grabbed him by the waist. “I think we’ve talked to everyone who’s here already.” He led Kevin to the middle of the dancing crowd and faced him. “You want to dance? Let’s dance.” He pulled him forward until their bodies came together. Then he moved in a slow sway, leading with his hips, brushing against Kevin in all the right places.

Without delay, Kevin wrapped his arms around Walter’s shoulders and buried his face in Walter’s neck. He sucked in a long breath, taking in the scent of Walter, the warmth of the man’s skin against his own lips and cheek. Walter had a hand at Kevin’s waist. The other found the back of his head. He pulled Kevin even closer.

No one had ever touched Kevin like this. Intimate. Tender. But with intensity to it unlike anything he’d known possible. God, what would it be like to make love with Walter? With all that power and passion directed at him until they both came?

He should’ve felt stupid for the thought. He didn’t. He put a hand at the nape of Walter’s neck, tugged him down, and said, “That was very caveman of you.”

Walter glided his hand along Kevin’s back as they continued to move. “You think you can just come on to a bunch of strangers and pretend this is normal for you?”

“I’m pretty good at doing what I have to in order to get information.” Only he wasn’t playing a part right now. It felt amazing to touch Walter like he hadn’t gotten to do in the bathroom at Seth’s apartment, or at the diner.

He ran his hands down Walter’s arms, then up and over his shoulders. A shiver followed the slow touch. The uninhibited way Walter moved against him, the slow rhythm of their hips shifting together had Kevin’s cock growing hard, joining them in the moment.

“One thing you should know about me,” Walter said. “I don’t share.”

Kevin pressed closer, longing to connect in every possible way along the length of their bodies. He found Walter’s cock in a similar state, and he let out a soft moan. He couldn’t stop himself.

Walter held on to him tighter. “I want you.” His voice was husky, his breathing picking up.

Kevin turned his face toward Walter’s neck again. He wanted to kiss Walter’s skin, run his tongue over every inch of his body. “Can we get a room?” Did he mean to say that?

Walter pulled back, considered him. “Thought you said not here?”

“I don’t think I care right now. Just not another bathroom.”

Walter laughed. “Thought that was a fantasy of yours?”

With complete sincerity, Kevin said, “Not this time.”

Walter let go of him and gestured to the stairs. “Lead the way.”

Lead? Kevin could walk across the club without tripping over his feet—maybe—but what about when they got upstairs in a room?

With each step up the staircase, the nervousness built. He had no idea what he was doing.

Five minutes later, as Walter closed the door to the room they’d reserved—the same room they’d been in the other night—Kevin’s unease melted away. Desire and determination replaced it. He wanted this. Wanted Walter.

He didn’t move a muscle, though. Walter came to him, and Kevin admired the power of those sure steps, the determination in Walter’s stare, the complete masculinity of his body, for once fully accepting it was a man’s body, a man’s touch he craved.

Kevin couldn’t go back. Couldn’t pretend he wasn’t ready for this. That he hadn’t been waiting for it since the first press of their lips. Hell, since long before he’d met Walter.

So close now. So close to finally letting go.

Walter stopped before him. “Say it first.”

“Say what?”

“You know what.” Compassion filled Walter’s eyes, an understanding that reached out to Kevin and drew him the rest of the way from the dark place of denial where he’d been living.

“I’m…” He could do this. It had always been a part of him.

“It’s okay,” Walter said. “It’ll be okay.”

Those words brought Kevin the last few steps to where he needed to be right then. “I’m gay.”

“Yes, you are.” Walter pulled him forward into a kiss.

The caress of tongues, the slow slide of Walter’s hands on his body, the feel of hard muscles under Kevin’s own hands. It all dragged him under a wave of passion and desire he’d never allowed himself to accept before. Or maybe it was more than that. Maybe it was Walter who had him so on fire.

The kiss deepened, became more urgent. Walter held on to him and walked them backward, never breaking the contact of their lips. Kevin’s back hit the wall, and only then did Walter pull out of the kiss. “Are you okay?”

“God, yes.” Kevin dragged him in for more.

That kiss didn’t last as long. Walter’s mouth worked lower, planting one kiss after another along Kevin’s neck, then even lower. He raised Kevin’s shirt, and without taking it off, he had that mouth on a nipple. He sucked and licked and tugged with teeth until Kevin could do nothing but writhe under the attention.

“Oh God. Don’t stop.”

Walter grunted but didn’t stop. He added the rub of his palm against Kevin’s cock still trapped in his jeans. The glorious torture went on and on. Then in a quick move, Walter straightened. “Your pants are in the way.” He tore them open so fast the button broke free in the process.

Kevin didn’t care. Walter had a hand inside his boxers. Good thing he’d gone with the solid white pair that morning. His dresser drawer contained some it would be better if he were not caught wearing by one sexy ex-cop.

On the first stroke of Walter’s hand on his dick, Kevin threw his head back to the wall behind him. The feel of that large, confident hand caressing his flesh sent a shiver throughout his body. He wanted more. So much more.

“I want to touch you too.”

“You’re touching me,” Walter said.

“I want more.” He attacked Walter’s pants, had them open faster than Walter had taken care of his. He wrapped his hand around the head of Walter’s erection.

And with that one touch, Kevin felt awake and alive like never before.

The skin was so hot, on fire. Like Walter would explode with just a few strokes. And really, shouldn’t Kevin be doing something other than holding on to the head of Walter’s dick like he was in a trance? He shifted the briefs lower and slid his hand to the base of the shaft, reveling in the power of that hot flesh, of every bulging vein, of the way Walter’s cock grew harder at his touch. He stroked faster and faster.

Walter spread his legs, shifted Kevin, positioning them until their bodies lined up just right. He wrapped a hand around both of their cocks. Kevin let go, let Walter lead their pleasure, unable to keep from watching that hand working them over.

He’d seen this in a porn video once, couldn’t believe his dick was touching another man’s—was touching Walter’s like this.

“Oh shit.” He arched his back.

Walter bent forward and kissed him. He continued that expert stroking as their lips joined, as their tongues swept out to greet each other, as the smooth, wet taste of Walter filled Kevin’s mouth.

Without a thought of what he was doing, Kevin raised a leg and hooked it around Walter’s hip. He reached out, wanting to feel their joined cocks.

“Yeah,” Walter said, his voice heavy with desire. “You do that.” He let go of them and seized Kevin’s ass. He lifted him, and Kevin wrapped both legs around Walter.

He’d never felt more open, more vulnerable, more a part of a single moment with any other person.

Walter shoved him against the wall and grunted with the slam of his hips, moving his dick within the tight grip of Kevin’s hand, creating even more friction on Kevin’s cock. With each thrust, Walter’s dick grazed the sensitive skin under the head of Kevin’s.

“Oh God.” Kevin was close already. He wanted this to last, but he couldn’t rein in his reactions. His body trembled.

“Hold on to me,” Walter said.

Kevin let go of their erections and gripped Walter’s shoulders. Walter slid a hand between them. Holding Kevin up to the wall, he took over jerking them off, his thrusts more shallow, his heavy breaths hitting the skin on the side of Kevin’s neck.

That expert hand tightened, moved faster. Another sure stroke and that was it. Kevin jerked his hips forward. He shot, his cum landing on his abs and the shirt still bunched up around his chest. Walter slowed his hand as he drew out the last shudder from Kevin.

They kissed, and Kevin circled his limbs tighter around Walter, feeling the hard cock pressed to his spent one.

“Fuck me.” Did he mean that? Was he ready to go that far? “Please. Fuck me, Walter.”

Apparently he was more than ready.

Walter moved again, thrusting against Kevin’s body. “Not going to…make it…that far.” He pulled back. “Get on your knees.”

Kevin’s feet found the floor, and he slid to his knees.

Walter flattened one hand to the wall above him and jerked his cock with the other, his pants and underwear still high around his hips.

That large fist running over the red, swollen cock captivated Kevin. He couldn’t stop watching those two beautiful body parts moving together. Walter let go of the wall and angled Kevin’s head so he stared up at him right as Walter groaned and came. His release shot up and hit Kevin’s cheek, then his lips. Walter kept jerking himself. More splashes on Kevin’s other cheek, and Walter groaned again as he squeezed the last bit of cum from his cock.

“Oh. My. God.” Kevin ran his fingers through the sticky warmth on his cheek. “That was, oh my God, that was hot.”

Walter huffed out a laugh between deep breaths. He grasped Kevin by the arm and pulled him up. He leaned them against the wall and held on to him, the ragged breaths from Walter repeatedly fanning warmth over Kevin’s neck.

Kevin held on and tried to ease his racing heart.

This, he hadn’t expected. Of all the sexual moments he’d imagined with a man, this intimate embrace afterward hadn’t even been on the list. Not because he hadn’t wanted it. More that he hadn’t wanted to hope for it.

Hope that he could have his sexual fantasies come true and also have them be about something more than getting off.

“Goddamn.” Walter sucked in a long breath. He traced a line down Kevin’s right arm with the pads of his fingers. “I needed that.”

“You?” Kevin dropped his head to the wall behind him again.

“I know with all the evidence to the contrary, you aren’t going to believe me”—Walter took another steadying breath and kissed the skin at the base of Kevin’s neck—“but I haven’t been with anyone in over a year. This was worth the wait.” He laughed again. “But next time…we’ve got to get our clothes off. And get horizontal. In a bed.”

Kevin laughed with him. Then he sobered at the thought of being completely naked in a bed with Walter.

He must’ve tensed, because Walter asked, “Like that idea, do you?

“Uh-huh.”

Walter cupped Kevin’s cheek. He swiped his thumb through the last remnants of his own cum. He eyed him with an expression Kevin couldn’t read. “Christ, you’re young.”

“We already covered this. I look young for my age.”

“Yeah.” Walter stepped back and ran his hands through his hair. His spent cock lay outside his open pants. The always-together former cop had never looked so disheveled, so unsure. “I’m old enough to be your father.”

“I don’t care about that.”

“I do.”

Kevin moved in and caressed Walter’s shirt-covered chest. “You’re so fucking sexy. And strong. Like there’s nothing you couldn’t do.”

Walter watched him for a minute more, then glanced away. His phone chimed a new text message. “That’s Vargas. You better get cleaned up.” He drew his pants closed and backed up.

“Wait.” Kevin grasped his forearm. “Our age difference doesn’t matter to me, okay?”

Walter studied him. Eventually he offered a half smile and a nod.

Yet there was something else behind the smile that said it was still an issue for Walter.
