But Lockhurst came in at that moment with a tray of glasses and three bottles of wine. “Shall I open one, my lady?” he inquired.

“Yes, of
course
,” her ladyship declared.

“But … aren't you going to wait for them to come out of the music room and make an announcement?” Toby asked, still stunned.

Wait
? It might take all
day
.” She lifted an empty glass from the tray and held it up to the butler with a wide grin. “Lockhurst,” she ordered, “pour!”
