Veronica shifted to kiss Blake, not giving
him a chance to open the box or to ask her. When they broke from
their kiss, Blake laughed.

“
Should I take that as a
yes?”

“
Yes, Blake. It’s a
yes.”

The tears welled up in her eyes. As she said
yes, the baby kicked under Blake’s palm.

“
I think he agrees with
me.”

Neither Veronica nor Blake could’ve been
more elated when they found out they were having a boy. They’d
decided to name him after Blake. Parker and Miller were already
calling him BJ.

Laughing and rubbing the spot where his son
kicked, Blake then kissed the back of Veronica’s neck before
saying, “Then you two have made me the happiest man in the world. I
love you so much, Vee.”

“
I love you too,
Blake.”

It was a cloudy day, yet as Blake pulled the
ring from the box, to slide it on her finger, the sun bared down on
them. When Blake moved his hand so Veronica could admire the ring,
the diamond sparkled in the light. Gazing at her ring, Veronica
could hear the joyful noises of her hometown Surpatch, Iowa
stirring around them. The town had so much life, and on Hideaway
Hill, Veronica was able to take it all in while being wrapped in
Blake’s arms.
