“There is more,” I whispered. “Mrs. MacDonald is surely going to try to find us. She knows where we are. And she has probably already had contact with the MacDonalds who want Logan dead.”

“And what about Steven?” Ewan asked, his hands fisting at his sides.

“He wants my wife back.” Logan’s tone was filled with fury. “But he’s not going to get her.”

“He is a time jumper,” I said. “There is a possibility he will end up here. And since he’d already partnered with Mrs. MacDonald before, I wouldn’t be surprised if they both partnered up again.”

“We cannot let McAlister go. If he were to be set free and decided to also form a bond… Three time jumpers in one group against us.” Logan shook his head. “Those odds are not good.”

With Saor satisfied, I burped him and then passed him to Logan who held out his arms. I felt a twinge of sadness with him no longer against me, but at least he was with his father, that was a good feeling. A whimsical smile came to my lips. I loved to watch Logan cuddle Saor. This huge, muscular warrior, easily twenty times the size of our baby, a practical giant… It was adorable.

Shaking myself back to the present, I pulled out the black box.

“This is what brought us back here.” I gazed at them all, seriously. “This is the tool that the time jumpers have at their disposal. The ability to go anywhere, anytime they choose. And they can take people with them. This is what Fate has been fighting. They each have one and we have only this single box between the six of us.”

“And this is why I think Fate pulled Emma forward in time. She needed her to find this out. To get her hands on one of these tools. I’ve been the guardian of Scotland’s secrets for a long time. We are now all going to take on the task of being the guardians of time, if ye’re willing that is,” Logan said, his gaze just as serious as mine.

“Count me in,” Ewan said, nodding, his eyes locked on me, then to his own wife.

“Without a doubt,” Shona agreed. “Moira and Rory will agree. I feel comfortable speaking for them in saying they will join us.”

“I am with you always,” I said.

Logan nodded then pulled me into his embrace, with Saor between the two of us.

“Together, we will save Scotland. No longer are we Highland bound, we are the keepers of time.”

Moon Magic

By

Eliza Knight

When thunder crashes

And lightning illuminates

Magic comes to pass.

Thistles sway, dancing

Purple petals and green stems

So very lovely.

Rain falls in crystal torrents

Sparkling drops on fingertips

Liquid Sustenance.

Black clouds shield the sun

Blankets the world in darkness

Takes away our sight.

The castle climbs high

Battlements touching the sky

Striking fear below.

Warriors come now

Their weapons shined and sharpened

Prepared for vengeance.

We will survive this

Surge of ruthless cruelty

For we are strong, wise.

Loneliness touches

Us all and can break hearts

Leaving us wretched.

Massaging the soul

Flexing your capacity

To accept love’s hold.

Flames burst destroying

Everything in its path

Leaving all tainted.

The evils of men

Devastate the innocent

Leaving destruction.

Do not surrender

To one who strips you, attempts

To watch you bleed dry.

Fear paralyzes

Only those who allow it

Be strong, be steady.

Afraid of being

Broken leaves one hopeless and

The future stark, bleak.

When hope does soar high

So too does joy and pleasure

Fostering courage.

Brave and courageous

Forge ahead leaving the past

And tumbling forward.

Beneath moon magic

Lovers gentle strokes bring bliss

And sweet surrender.

A precious ending

A love that shan’t be broken

By the bonds of time.
