“You don’t want it to be a surprise?”
“I love your surprises, but I’d like to have an idea about what I should wear.”
“Fair enough. Dress casual. I’m going to take you out to eat, and then we’re going to meet Courtney and Bobby out at Hidden Creek for a beer and listen to the band.”
“Courtney’s going out with Bobby?”
“Apparently so. He just told me he’d meet us there, and that he was bringing her. He seemed pretty excited about it. He was telling me all about her. I tried to tell him that I already knew who she was, but he wasn’t listening.”
“That’s great. I thought they might hit it off. I sent her over to help him with his game. He was having some trouble with the pouty kids,” Tessa said as she leaned in to give him a brief kiss. “Thanks again for helping today.”
“You can thank me properly later tonight,” Bishop told her as he gave her a light pop on her ass.
“I’ll see you at seven,” Tessa said slapping his hand away. She hurried into the school’s office to put the money they’d earned in the safe. They’d made over $2,800.00 in just four hours. She felt certain that most of the money had come from the dunk tank. She would have to come up with some way to thank Mr. Morrison for his help. A gift basket or a box of chocolate might do the trick. It had been a good day, and she was more than excited about her date that night. She knew it would be fun being there with Courtney and Bobby.
Chapter 22
Bishop
Once Bishop made it back to the clubhouse, he made arrangements to pick up his new bike early the following morning. Myles had helped him pick it out earlier in the week. It was badass black 2012 CVO Harley Street Glide with a fork mounted bat wing fairing. It has a low-profile touring seat with an embossed insert pattern with a detachable passenger pillion and backrest pad. He wanted Tessa or Myles to have a comfortable seat. He got a great deal, and the bike looked pretty awesome. As much as he liked the look of the new bike, he always preferred having a vintage Harley. He decided to also buy a 1969 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide FLH Shovelhead Touring to restore in his shop. He would enjoy making this bike something he could be proud of. It would be a project for him to work on with Myles. He wanted his son to know the ins and outs of bike restoration so he could take over the business someday. This would be his first bike, and it would be something he would give him when he got old enough to drive.
He hadn’t been able to get Duce off of his mind. The setup with the Jackals had been their best plan for getting him taken care of without getting blood on their hands. If they didn’t come up with something soon, Bishop knew Duce would be back to causing trouble for their club. There was no way he was going to let it go, especially since he’d lost his two best men. If Mule really did see Renegade and Sheppard, Duce would be out for revenge. They needed to take care of him or prepare for the fallout.
He was worried about becoming more involved with Tessa with things like they were, but he couldn’t seem to keep his distance. She was becoming more important to him than he’d planned. The look she gave him whenever she wanted him to kiss her made it hard for him to control himself. He wanted to consume her. She was smart, confident, and seemed open to his lifestyle. She didn’t judge him or his club. It made him want to keep her close to him all the time. He smiled thinking how much she’d liked being on his bike. Her arms wrapped tight around him, laughing when he went too fast, made him want to claim her as his.
Mine
… he thought to himself. He knew he had to have her, and tonight he wouldn’t wait any longer to convince her to be his.
He pulled his truck into her driveway just before seven. She must have heard him pull up. She was already out on the porch locking the front door when he opened his door. She was wearing a black top with a low cut V that showed off her breasts and a short denim skirt that drew his eyes to her long legs. She wore her dark cowboy boots and silver bracelets around her wrist. Her hair was down in long, wavy curls.
Damn, she’s gonna be the death of me.
Her lips curved into a sexy smile as she approached him. “Hey there, good looking! You ready to go?”
“Damn, woman. You’re trying to kill me, aren’t you? I thought those school skirts were hot, but that thing is gonna have me hard all night.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment, Perv. Let’s go. I’m starving. That burger from the festival is long gone, and Drake has literally eaten everything in the house. That boy is like my own personal garbage disposal. He’ll eat anything that isn’t nailed to the floor.”
“Well, that’s an easy problem to fix. I thought we would head over to the Olive Pit. You like pasta?”
“Love it. That’s one of my favorite places to eat. I don’t get to go very often, because the kids always want Chinese food.” She gave him a quick kiss on the check and pranced over to the truck.
He opened her door and helped her get in. His hand slowly swept over her bare knee. He pulled back shaking his head. “Yep, you’re trying to kill me.”
They both enjoyed their dinner together. Their conversation came easily, and he loved how easy she was to talk to. They talked about their families and friends. He told her all about how he grew up in a club similar to the Devil Chasers. His dad was the VP of the Lost Souls, and he’d loved the MC life even as a child. His father’s club dismantled after the president was killed in a car crash. His father died later that year of a heart attack. His mother died when he was four, so he lost all of his family when his father passed away. It was one of the things that led him to join the Devil Chasers eleven years ago. Most of the original members were no longer with them. Some had moved away or decided club life wasn’t for them, but Pops and Doc were still holding on strong. They had pretty strong opinions about the club, but they kept their thoughts to themselves and trusted Bishop to do his job.
Tessa listened to him intently, only asking a few questions now and then. She seemed intrigued by their lifestyle, but she wasn’t put off by it. He hoped that she could see herself as part of his unique family. He wanted to claim her as his old lady, but she would need to understand what that meant to be claimed. Lots of people had their own judgments when it came to the term, Old Lady. He wanted her to understand that it was a term of endearment, not disrespect like some people thought. Once she became his old lady, she would have the highest rank of all the women in the club. She would have to show them respect, but she would ultimately have the final say when it came to the women in the club. Just the thought of her wearing the leather ‘Property of Bishop’ jacket made his cock grow hard.
Once they were finished with their dinner, he drove them over to Porch at Hidden Creek. It’s a rustic patio bar by the lake where bikers like to meet up after a long day of riding. Their food is great, and it usually had a band on the weekends. They’re famous for their firework show on the Fourth of July. People come from all over the lake to watch the fireworks while listening to the band.
Bobby and Courtney were already sitting at one of the tables drinking a beer when they walked up. There were several empty bottles scattered on their table.
“There you are! I was beginning to think you were going to stand us up. We’ve been here for over an hour. We just ate an awesome steak, and the beers are seriously cold. I’m already on my 3rd one! Go grab you one and come sit with us,” Courtney said with a welcoming smile.
“You sit,” Bishop told Tessa. “I’ll go grab us a drink. Do you need another round?” Bishop asked Bobby.
“Yeah, we’re almost done with this one.”
“I’ll be right back.” Bishop headed over to the counter to get the drinks. Tessa couldn’t keep her eyes off of him as he walked through the crowd. She noticed several women admiring him, and it pleased her to know that he was there with her.
“You’ve got it bad, girl. I knew you’d end up falling for him. I think he’s pretty cool,” Courtney said smiling at Tessa.
“Yeah, he’s pretty great. We had a great time tonight. He took me to the Olive Pit. You know how I
love
their bow-tie pasta. We talked for hours, and he just makes me like him more every time I’m around him.”
“I’m glad you decided to take a chance on him. It looks like he’s pretty into you, too,” Courtney said with a sincere smile.
Tessa looked over to Bobby and asked, “Have y’all had fun tonight?”
“Your girl’s a hoot. She’s a big talker. I like it…. She’s got more stories than the Old Testament. I’ll never have to worry about finding something to talk about,” Bobby said as he reached for her hand.
“I know what you mean. Sometimes my brain can’t keep up with her mouth, but you gotta love her. She always keeps you entertained,” Tessa said laughing loudly.
Courtney cleared her throat and said, “Hello? Guys… I’m sitting right here you know. I can hear what you’re saying.” Tessa started to laugh even harder.
Bishop walked over with their beers. He passed them around and then sat in the chair closest to Tessa. He put his arm around the back of her chair and used his other hand to pull her closer to him. “They got a good band tonight?” he asked Bobby.
“Yeah, it’s the same group that was here a couple of weeks ago when we came out for Ace,” Bobby replied.
“They’re pretty good. Maybe I’ll get my girl to give me a dance or two,” Bishop said grinning at Tessa.
“I’d love to dance. This place is really a neat place. I’ve never been here before. Who are all these bikers?” Tessa asked.
“They’re from all over. Most of them either have a place out on the lake or just stopped here after their ride today. Lots of folks like to ride out by the lake when the weather is nice. This is a great place to come after being on your bike all day,” Bishop replied.
“Do you come here often?” Courtney asked Bobby.
“Not really. We usually end up at the clubhouse, but this is a cool place to hang out from time to time when we ride,” Bobby answered as he took a drink of his beer.
They talked for over hour, enjoying their drinks and listening to the band. Bishop reached for Tessa’s hand, pulling her out of her seat and over to a corner to dance. Several other couples were gathered around dancing to the
music the band played.
As they began to dance, his lips curved into a sexy grin. He pulled her close to him as their bodies swayed to the rhythm of the music. He leaned in brushing his lips across her neck. She wrapped her arms around his neck and grasped the ends of his hair at the back of his neck. When her breasts pressed against his chest, he could feel his cock growing harder against the denim of his jeans. He ground his hips into hers as his hand brushed over the curve of her ass.
He moved his mouth over to her ear and whispered with need in his voice, “It’s time to go. Let’s tell them goodnight and head out,” Bishop said as he led her over to Bobby and Courtney.
“Umm…we’re heading home. It’s been a long day. I’ll call you tomorrow morning, Court,” Tessa said, waving goodbye as she quickly followed Bishop out of the bar.
When they made it back into the parking lot, Bishop turned to her and said, “We’re going back to your place. It’s closer, and I’m ready to get you out of that skirt.” As he helped her into the truck, his hand roamed past the hem of her skirt and tightened on her upper thigh. He was just inches away from her increasing heat when he pulled his hand away. His eyes never left hers as he walked over to his side of the truck.
No words were spoken as they drove to her house. He could feel the warmth of her body as she moved closer and reached for his hand. When she glanced up, he could see the desire she felt for him. His foot pressed harder against the gas pedal as his truck roared down the road. He needed her, and he knew she felt the same way.
Chapter 23
Tessa
Tessa was overwhelmed by her feelings for Bishop. She had never wanted a man with such intensity. It was more than lust that she felt for him. She realized that she was falling in love with him. She never expected to feel this way about him, but now she couldn’t imagine ever letting him go. He made her feel safe even though she knew that danger surrounded him. His confidence all but consumed her, making her trust him in every way. Just the touch of his hand left her wanting more of him. She was in a constant state of anticipation, need, and want.
They still had not spoken when she opened the door to her house. She turned to him, waiting for him to pursue her. The heat of his possessive gaze shattered her control. She reached for the hem of her shirt and pulled it over her head, exposing the black lace bra she wore underneath. She walked over to him, and her hands quickly moved to the buckle of his belt. As she began to undo it, he pulled his shirt off, revealing his broad chest. She stood frozen as her eyes roamed over his defined torso. He had several tattoos on his upper chest, and one large tattoo on his arm that traveled down past his elbow. Her fingers traced over the seething, fiery devil. The bright red and orange flames flared around the devil’s body and face. The words
Devil Chaser MC
were written in bold letters above the fire
. In Tribute to The Lost Souls
was written in smaller letters underneath. Ghostlike skulls seemed to hover around the flames. There were at least ten skulls with tiny words written within the shading. Looking closer, Tessa realized the words were actually names. She gave him a questioning look.
