I wake up some time later, not realizing I had actually fallen asleep. It’s not till I turn over, and notice Kaleb has gone that I know I had fallen asleep. If I was awake, I would have known he had left the room.

I climb out of bed, and walk to his closet, and quickly grab one of his shirts. I need to shower before I get dressed, but I need to find Kaleb.

I wonder his big apartment, not yet knowing where his office is. I walk in to a room, but it’s a spare bed room. I open another door, and am met with a library. Another door leads me to a room that is just full of cabinets, full of awards. I will have to take a closer look in that room, just not right now. It will tell me a little more about Kaleb.

I finally come to the door on the end, and I am pleased to see it’s the room I'm looking for. Kaleb is sat typing on his laptop when I walk in.

“Hello beautiful,” he says as he looks up to me.

“Hi.” I say as I round his desk and walk over to him. His eyes roam up and down my body, before he gives me an approving smile.

“I hope you don’t mind.” I say pulling the fabric of his shirt, “I just didn’t know what else to put on.”

“Baby, you can walk around in anything you want. You look beautiful in anything.” he compliments me as he pulls his chair out from under the desk.

He taps his knees, indicating he wants me to take a seat. I don’t hesitate. I park my arse straight on his knee, so I’m straddling him. He inhales my scent before crushing me to him. I wrap my arms around him, loving the feel of him.

“What you doing?” I ask trying to be nosy.

“Nothing,” he responds as he nervously shifts in his seat.

I look at him and raise my eye brow at him.

“You’re a hopeless liar,” I tell him as I stand and turn around so I'm facing his laptop. He has the search engine up.

“What are you researching?” I ask him as I scroll down the page.

“Baby.” he says trying to shut the laptop lid.

“Kaleb, don’t baby me. What are you trying to hide?”

I lift my hand so the laptop lid doesn’t close.

I train my eyes on the laptop, and he is looking up symptoms. Symptoms for trauma induced dreams and what it means when you can’t remember them.

“Why are you looking at this?” I ask him.

“I was just looking. No harm done.” he says finally able to close the laptop.

“No harm done, Kaleb why couldn’t you just tell me?” I ask him.

“What would you of done if that was work related?” he asks me.

“If it was work, you would have said work, which would have stopped me looking. It’s the fact you tried to cover it up that made me curious.”

“I just didn’t want you to see it.”

“Why?”

“Because I didn’t want to worry you.”

“What do you mean worry me? What did it say?”

“I don’t know; you came in while it was loading up. But baby, you were very scared this morning, and distressed. We have to see what it can be, that’s all.”

“Why didn’t you just tell me this?” I ask him as I fold my body against his.

“I was trying to get answers first.”

“Kaleb, it doesn’t work like that. If you’re worried, I need to know.”

“I can handle it.” he says kissing my head.

“Okay, what are we doing today?” I ask him changing conversation. I am not going in to this right now. I can’t be arsed with a fight.

“I was thinking about going out.”

“Where to?” I ask excitedly.

“I don’t know.” he muses for a few seconds, before he speaks again,

“Fancy going for something to eat?”

“What about the press?” I ask reminding him, we are basically hostages around here at the moment. They haven’t left us alone – yet. It’s getting pretty boring now.

“We can go a few miles out of town, near the beach, what do you say?”

I haven’t been to the beach since I was about three.

“I love the beach, and would love to visit again.” I say excited as I jump on his knee.

“I didn’t mean actually on the beach, but if you want to we can.”

“Please, I’ve not been for over twenty years” I say giving him a pout.

“Okay” he agrees.

I wrap my arms tightly round him as I kiss all over his face. He gives off a big laugh, before he pulls away. He holds my head in his hands, and slowly brings his lips to mine.

“Can we stop at mine for a change of clothes first though?”

“We can just buy some.” he says pulling back again.

“Kaleb, I need to check my post too.” I inform him.

“Okay, we best get ready then.” he says standing up with me in his arms.

He carries me all the way back to the bathroom, where we enjoy a nice, long, hot sex free shower.

*****

We pull up outside my apartment, and I jump out. Kaleb follows behind me.

“You don’t have to come if you want to wait here, I’ll only be a few minutes.” I tell him.

“I'll come wait inside.” he says putting his hand on my hip, and leading me towards my apartment. I don’t bother giving him a comeback. He isn’t doing no harm coming in with me.

As I open my door, my mail makes it stick a little. I give my door a harder push, and it opens.

I lean down and pick up all my mail. I quickly scan the envelopes, and come across a familiar envelope. This is good mail, nothing like what I have been getting lately, but Kaleb still can’t see it.

I hold it to my body, hoping Kaleb doesn’t notice. I throw the rest on the side board, and take this one envelope with me to my bedroom.

“I'll be back in a minute.” I tell Kaleb over my shoulder.

“Okay.” he says as he walks around my apartment.

I quickly walk into my bedroom, and into my closet. I know what I’m looking for.

I walk straight to the back, and pull down the hidden box that contains other letters that I like to keep to myself. Even Grace doesn’t know the full contents of this box.

I sit on my bed, with the box beside me.

I quickly scan the envelope, before I open it. I read the letter, and admire the few pictures that have fallen out with the letters.

I feel myself getting emotional at what is before me. I can’t dwell on this. I have my special time where I pull the full box out, and just drown myself in it. Now is not the time for that. I do it when I’m alone.

I quickly put them in the box with the rest of them, before my tears start to fall.

I blink the tears away, but wipe away the few that did escape.

I proceed to get dressed in something suitable for the beach.

Walking back into the living room, Kaleb is still pacing the room. I am wearing my black two-piece swim suit, with a black light cotton short dress over the top.

Kaleb smiles as he sees me, “Ready to go?” he asks me.

I nod my head, and we both leave.

*****

We pull up to the beach a few hours later.

Liam has drove us, and was refusing to let us out the car till he had parked it, so Kaleb wasn’t without his second hand man. When Kaleb rang him and told him we were going to the beach, Liam insisted on coming with us. He doesn’t trust the press.

After driving the stretch a few miles, Liam finally finds a place to park the car.

We all jump out, glad to stretch our legs, and make our way to the sand.

We decided we will do dinner later, as we wanted to relax for a bit, while the sun was still out.

Kaleb walks straight over to grab two deck chairs, while Liam stays close by on his own.

“Why doesn’t Liam sit with us?” I ask Kaleb thinking Liam must get pretty bored on his own.

“When we're out in public, he likes to keep a little distance. If he sits here, he will be engrossed in conversation, and then he feels like he is letting his guard down. From up there he can see everything he needs to see.” he explains.

“I guess that makes sense.” I say as I flop down in the deck chair that Kaleb has just set up for me.

“Would you like a drink?” Kaleb offers.

“Please. Is it too early for a cocktail?” I ask him.

“Baby, you've not had food yet. Is that wise?” he asks as he stands up.

“Just the one before dinner?” I ask using my charm – my fluttering eye lashes.

“You know I can’t say no when you do that.” he says as he bends to give me a quick kiss.

He wonders off to get our drinks.

As he wonders off, a sight I never thought I would see again slowly walks towards me.

I suddenly start to panic, which is to be expected. He has been after me for months, and now I am face to face with him.

I tuck myself in my chair, hoping he doesn’t see me. It fails epically.

“Well, well, well,” he says as he gets closer. “Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes.” he laughs as he sits in Kalebs seat. To anyone looking, you would think he is a friend saying hello, but I know what he is.

“Walk away.” I manage to say through my racing heart. I have a lump in my throat, and I know my body is shaking in fear.

“I think I deserve answers don’t you?” he casually says.

“I don’t owe you fuck all.” I say, fearing for what he might do.

“Oh but Rhiannon, how I know you do.”

“What is it you want for me?” I fearfully ask.

“My child,” them two words stop my heart beating altogether.

I open my eyes wide at his words. NO NO NO. this can’t be happening,

“Please don’t do this.” I say as tears spring to my eyes.

“Don’t do this? The last time I saw you was in a court room, and you were fucking pregnant, now I want to see my child!” he spits at me, his voice full of anger.

“I don’t know where she is.” I sob. I will not let him near her at all. I will protect her with my own life.

“So it is a girl then. Nice, I have a daughter.” he says smugly.

“You don’t have fuck all. You will never get near her.” I promise.

“I will find you Rhiannon, no matter how many times you try to move away.” he threatens me.

“That may be, but you won’t ever find her.”

“What the fuck have you done?” he asks angrily.

“That has nothing to do with you.”

“It has everything to do with me. What have you done with her?” he shouts.

I actually fear for my life right now, so I have no choice but to tell him. He will never find her anyway; he knows nothing about her.

“I gave her up for adoption, she has a mum and dad, and you're not them.”

He flies out of his chair towards me, but Liam steps in and holds him back. I don’t know when he showed up, but I am thankful for him.

“You fucking did what?” he asks as I jump out of my seat, and cower away from him.

“It’s what was for the best.” I feebly say as my tears sting my eyes.

“You fucking little bitch. I will kill you for this.” he shouts as he tries to get past Liam.

“Your body guard won’t save you, you watch your back, because I have just put a bounty on you.” he says through gritted teeth.

Just as he shouts that, Kaleb comes back.

“Who the fuck do you think you’re talking to?” he says as he comes to my side. His eyes probing Len.

“Who the fuck are you?” he spits at Kaleb.

“I am her boyfriend, and if you don’t do one, I will have a bounty put on you, only I bet I can do better then you” Kaleb threatens. “Liam, get this trash away.” Kaleb says as he folds me in his arms.

“Baby, you okay?” he asks me, his eyes scanning my body for any injury.

I just nod my head, as I sit back down. Kaleb passes me my drink before he kneels down to talk to me. I drink the cool liquid in one go, but it does nothing to help me.

“Baby, I have to go speak to Liam, I’ll be right back okay?” he asks again. My only response is to nod, as my tears stream down my face.

He gets to his feet, as I overlook the beach. I slowly take sips of Kaleb’s drink as I watch the swimmers in the sea. The surfer dudes are also showing off, but I would love to try that one time.

A few moments on my own, is soon interrupted.

Kaleb comes behind me, and grabs my arm, shocking me. I spin around to see him, and he looks angry.

“We're going NOW.” he orders, not letting go of my arm, in fact his grip is getting tighter,

“Why now?” I ask him shocked, and a little afraid. We have just got here.

“I am not doing this here Rhiannon.” he says, he whispers in my ear the next part so only I can hear it, “Get your fucking arse in that car now. I am serious, or walk home. You are going to try and explain why you have lied the whole fucking time I have known you.” he says.

I take a deep breath, as I look at him. He still hasn’t let my arm go, and it is starting to hurt.

“Kaleb, please.” I beg him.

“Please what? Pretend nothing has happened? Pretend you haven’t lied to me for weeks?” he hisses at me.

“Let go of my arm.” I say as fresh tears invade my eyes.

“Car now.” he says as he lets me go.

I look down to my arm, and see the red mark. I don’t know what to do, right now, I feel scared of angry Kaleb. And this is really angry Kaleb.

When I get myself together, I walk back up the beach, but Kaleb is already miles ahead of me. He is sat in the car, with the back door open, and I look around the beach one more time, and notice Liam is following me.

Well at least I know he won’t drive off without me.

When I finally reach the car, I slowly climb in. Liam shuts the door behind me, before he takes his place up front. In no time at all he has us on our way back.

“Kaleb.” I say carefully as I place my hand on his thigh. I am trying to get him to listen to me, but when he looks at me, all I see is anger in his beautiful green eyes. He then looks at my hand, and removes it.

“Don’t.” is all I get from him. That one word hurts so much coming from him.

I have never felt so rejected as I do in this moment. It feels like my heart is torn in to pieces. I turn my attention to the outside world as I curl my legs up to me.

*****

After we have been driving for over an hour, I look back towards Kaleb. He is ignoring me, and looking out the window too. I don’t know what to do, so I try to call out to him, “Kaleb?” I ask again.

He gives me a nasty look, before turning his eyes back on the window.
