DeWitt's Pack 4

The Blind  Werewolf  Assassin

Nick Larosa is not pleased about going to DeWitt's pack, especially since Adam Trenton, his first love from ten years ago, will be there. Things didn't end well when Nick broke off their relationship after discovering  he was going blind. Those old feelings of anger and lust are clearly still there for both of them.

Adam always knew Nick's eyesight was bad, but never thought he would go blind. Seeing Nick's once-clear eyes so cloudy and sightless is a shock. Nick, however, doesn't let that stand in the way of proving he is a skilled warrior, capable of  teaching the other alphas how to better use their senses.

When Adam discovers that Nick left him for just that reason, the old anger resurfaces. Both will have to learn to  trust the other if they are to defeat the pack of wild werewolves coming to DeWitt's pack, and stay alive long enough to admit they still love each other.

Chapter One

Nick could never consider himself to be a master assassin. There

were definitely those who were better than he was. All things  considered, he was still pretty good. Being blind would hinder anyone  from becoming the absolute best in a profession that relied mostly on  sight.

Still, his alpha sent him out on these errands, and he was glad to  be able to do his part to keep his pack safe instead of just being holed  up in a secluded room by himself, no one to keep him company  except for the chirping of the birds outside.

No. Even though he was aching, covered in blood—not his own— and just downright tired from his journey, Nick Larosa was happy.

He’d successfully tracked a small pack of hunters that Phillip, his  alpha, had been concerned about, and he’d killed them, just as he’d  been ordered.

They hadn’t even seen him coming, and now all he had to do was travel the fifty miles back to his pack territory, using his nose to tell him that he was on the right path.

He’d gone farther distances to make his kills before, so even though his muscles were burning from all the exercise, he knew he

would still make it home in good time.

He did. The sun was shining hot on his black coat when he  stepped out of the shade of the trees and onto his pack land. It was  always harder to tell how many more people were running about  when there were groups of them, and with the way the natural earth  and grass cushioned their footfalls, but the scents and sounds were  still there, and Nick could tell that most everyone was outside,  enjoying the beautiful day.

He heard the pups scream as they chased each other or played  with their toys, the deep baritone of male voices as they chatted over  their trucks, the hard shake of fabrics as the omegas did the laundry,  and he smelled the scent of food―his favorite dish, pot  roast―hanging lazily on the air.

Yup, good to be back.

Nick trotted forward, keeping his tongue hanging out to help with  the heat. God, he needed a drink, but he could get that when he got  inside Phillip’s house.

The door was open. The screen door was not, but he’d expected  that, and he lifted his paw to pull at the simple latch that would allow  him access to the house, and immediately the scent of baby powder  assaulted his nose.

Phillip’s mate had just had a  baby three months earlier, and Nick was still getting used to the scent of such a soft sweetness floating around his alpha’s house.

Nick still didn’t transform back into his human body. He’d never really been open about being naked around others, especially with kids running around. It was something he usually got ripped on for, considering everyone on the land was a werewolf, and all of them, including the children running around just outside, were all as familiar with the naked body as could be.

Maybe it  was because he hadn’t been born a werewolf, Nick wasn’t sure, but he’d just never gotten used to being naked around anyone other than—

“Back so soon?”

Nick jumped a little, Phillip’s voice startling him. That was

unusual.

Phillip knew it, too. “It’s hard for me to sneak up on you. What were you thinking about?”

Something he shouldn’t have been. Nick didn’t catch the immediate scent of Helen, Phillip’s mate, or their small son, and so he decided it was safe to become a man once more.

He heard the rustle of cloth as Phillip grabbed one of his trench

coats from off the hook on the wall and handed it to him.

“Did you get them?” he asked, forgetting about his previous  question.

“Anyone who finds them will never recognize them. Just another  bear attack.”

“Good.”

Phillip sighed, and his footsteps on the hardwood floors were heavy as he moved to the direction of the living room.

Nick followed him at a cautious pace. At one time he’d been so familiar with this house he could freely walk about it, confident that

every  table and chair would be where it had been during his last visit.  That there would be nothing underfoot for him to trip on.

Ever since Helen had her baby, she’d had less time to concern  herself with being the neat freak she usually was, and Nick was forced to rely on his senses much more heavily to ensure he didn’t step on a  stuffed animal or on a baby monitor.

It could be done. He was capable of walking around the forest,  after all, and that was nature, a constantly changing space. It just  meant he couldn’ t fully relax like he’d wanted to.

“Thank you for taking care of them, Nick. You have no idea how  much I appreciate it.”

He did. He knew how much Helen had freaked out when she

found out some of the alphas had sniffed out hunters in the area.  She’d gone from warrior to mother wolf in what seemed like
