Jamie turned
out to be extremely large for a new-born when he first entered the world. The
doctor in charge had discussed and then agreed with the midwife that he was
about the size they would have expected for a one year old child to have been.
He was certainly the biggest they’d ever delivered before, but there was also
the fact that they’d all been uneasy about the very unusual blue eyes,
especially the way that they appeared to follow them around the room. It almost
made them feel as though he could read their minds.
Although she’d had to stay in a day longer
than the rest of the mum’s who’d given birth the same day, due to extra checks
and tests, from the moment Debbie arrived home with him, she totally ignored
the baby. Finding it strange but unable to do anything about it at first, Susan
Green had automatically taken over as any loving mother would have done.
Post-natal depression was the diagnosis of the family doctor, but her mother
watched as her daughter changed from a happy intelligent young woman into a
self-doubting recluse over a relatively short space of time.
Susan would have loved to have laid the
blame on that damned ex-boyfriend of hers, but whenever she broached the
subject with her, Debbie would simply clam up and not say a word. Therefore,
she hoped it would only be a matter of time before she finally turned to her
for help, but in the meantime she still had her hands full with Jamie. The
boy’s body had already developed well enough to support himself and after only
six weeks, he’d already learnt to sit up. He was even starting to show signs of
crawling.
Rebecca flirted
terribly whenever she was alone with Janus. She still couldn’t believe her
luck, because not only was he one of the most handsome men she’d ever met, but
he was also a complete charmer with a great sense of humour. The man could make
her laugh quite easily and had already zoned into the type of things she liked.
He’d only been working with her for seven weeks, but it felt as if she’d known
him for years. If the truth be known, she was well and truly besotted by him.
Yet as far as Janus was concerned, he still had a very important mission to
complete and Rebecca was simply there to be used as a means to help him achieve
it.
In time, she would serve her purpose. She’d
probably come in useful in more ways than one as he still had a certain amount
of needs that wanted satisfying, in due course. She was certainly very
attractive and already giving out all of the right signals.
It was late one
evening when Janus was busy studying the eggs that had been collected from a
patient undergoing IVF. This was a process where a woman’s menstrual cycle was
controlled and monitored by the clinic until the correct stage of maturity was
reached. The eggs were then collected through the woman’s vagina with a very
fine needle, while she was being scanned using the latest ultrasound
technology. Following successful collection, the eggs would be placed in an
incubator that would have been pre-set to the same temperature as the woman’s
body. This would then be mixed with the male partner’s sperm, where
fertilization would then be expected to take place within two days. Hopefully,
the embryos would then develop and be expected to divide twice, into four
cells. Janus had been tasked to select three suitable embryos for transfer back
into the patient’s uterine cavity, which if successful would hopefully lead to
a full term pregnancy.
The Prof always seemed to be busy giving
interviews to the media in one form or another, yet the clinic was still well
managed with all work double checked at each stage to reduce any chance of
mistakes. Any remaining embryos would be frozen for future use as there were
strict limitations and guidelines that had to be followed. Janus felt that this
was a great place to work from, as it served his plans very adequately for now.
Later, having completed the work he’d been
tasked with doing, his colleague, Dr Robert Adams had just left the building
when Janus heard the door to the laboratory open up behind him.
‘Hello Janus! I was working late tonight,
and Bob mentioned that you were still here working.’ Rebecca entered the room
and stood directly under the spotlight that was used during some of the
internal examinations. Janus was quick to notice that she wore a doctor’s
overcoat. This was a little bit on the large side for her, but as she spoke she
slowly eased it over her shoulders and very teasingly, she let it fall to the
floor, which left her standing there completely naked. Janus didn’t appear to
be shocked at all, which slightly unsettled Rebecca at first. She started to
wonder if she’d totally misjudged him and made a big mistake, until he closed
the gap and walked towards her smiling. Taking her masterfully by the hand, he
immediately led her across to the operating table that dominated the central
area of the room. He then grabbed her sides with both hands and helped lift her
onto it. No sooner had she made herself comfortable, before the warmth and
wetness of his tongue appeared and caressed her left breast. Wasting no time,
his hand slowly worked its way along her inner thigh until it reached up
between her legs.
Rebecca let out a sharp intake of breath as
his finger moved around and finally located the correct spot perfectly. The
woman moaned in response as his fingers probed further. This caused her juices
to flow ever further, while his mouth wrapped around an erect nipple, which
jutted out in eager anticipation. Sucking in a steady rhythm, he gradually used
his other hand to undress himself. After a while, he also discarded his
clothing and once satisfied, he climbed onto the waiting woman before guiding
himself between her readily parted legs. Their hungry mouths entwined as they
built up a slow but pleasant rhythm together, neither of them hurrying or
worrying about the chance of being disturbed. Rebecca could already taste him
on her and his hands continued to cup her voluptuous breasts as they pounded up
and down together, with the sound of the operating table straining below. Two
minutes later they were still in full flow with neither showing any signs of
tiring when Janus felt it happen. Vicky had started to fight back from the
inside and he could both feel her and read her mind as she tried her best to
stop him from impregnating the woman below. Rebecca then got extremely confused
and screamed out loud as Janus appeared to be developing female breasts. She
could also no longer feel his penis inside her, and it felt as if it had
disappeared altogether. Peering up at his face, Rebecca found an
extraordinarily beautiful woman with long flowing black hair lying directly on
top of her. She also noted how her eyes stared back looking a little
bewildered, just before she finally passed out.
When she eventually woke up, Rebecca found
herself in a taxi. She was fully dressed with her head laying in Janus’ lap,
while his hand gently stroked her head. She tried to remain as calm as possible
as she looked up and the man and asked.
‘What the hell happened back there?’
‘I actually wanted to ask you the same
thing.’ He replied, just as Rebecca began to sit back up. She studied him for a
moment and wondered if the whole thing had just been some sort of stupid dream.
There really couldn’t have been any other possible explanation.
‘One minute we were partying and then you
just screamed and fainted.’ He added, looking all sweet and innocent.
When the taxi
eventually stopped directly outside her house, Janus asked if she would be okay
on her own. Rebecca replied that she was fine and would see him at work
tomorrow, as he handed over her handbag and jacket from the seat beside him.
She quickly hurried from the cab, before shooting up a short flight of stairs
and disappeared from view in the blink of an eye. The woman was either very confused
or totally embarrassed about the whole thing. This wasn’t necessarily a problem
but Janus was not exactly all that happy.
Dana stared up
at the building. She shuddered as she felt as though she was definitely being
watched somehow. Approaching the entrance to the plush riverside flats she was
somewhat taken by surprise when the entry phone suddenly burst into life just
as she was about to push the button. A man’s voice was then broadcast rather
loudly from the speaker.
‘Please come straight up to the top floor
Miss Sorbus. I’ve been expecting you for quite a while.’ When the buzzer
sounded, she did as she was bid, but she chose to avoid the lift and continued
with caution up the stairs. This caused a dog to start barking behind one of
the front doors as soon as she reached the third floor, before finally arriving
at the top. It was then that she noticed, from her point of view, an incredibly
handsome man staring from an open doorway just across to her right.
‘Mr Storm, I presume, or should I say Mr
Dayne?’ Dana asked rather cheekily.
‘Whichever you prefer my dear.’ came the
instant reply. Well he certainly hadn’t denied it that was for sure.
‘Please step into my humble abode will
you. We certainly have much to discuss by the sound of things.’ Dana hesitated
before coming up with a reply.
‘I think I would prefer to talk to you
outside in public
if you don’t mind.
After all, I hardly know you. Do I?
‘That could very soon be remedied.’ he
said, smirking. ‘However, your wish is my command.’ He stated, as he reached
back inside and grabbed up a jacket from one of the hooks behind the door.
They entered
the street together via the back of the flats through a small but well stocked
communal garden. They walked together up a cobbled path that headed towards the
waterfront, and as they approached the river, Dana managed to hold back the
emotions she was feeling just then. The fast flowing water held such bad
memories and she couldn’t help but wonder if he’d come that way just to prove a
point.
Janus led her to a nearby bench overlooking
the water, and as they sat down, he gazed straight into Dana’s eyes and
appeared to be studying her before eventually saying anything.
‘You appear to possess a great deal of your
father’s features, which combined with your femininity makes you a very
beautiful woman indeed, Miss Sorbus. Dana felt herself start to blush. She
tried hard to regain her composure, but managed to do so, before giving him an
answer.
‘Let’s cut out the bullshit Mr Storm, or
whatever name you’re using at the moment! You obviously know who I am then, and
I know that you were responsible in some way for my father’s untimely death. I
promise you right here and now, that once I’ve gained enough proof, I’m going
to put you away for a very long time.’
Rather surprisingly, there was
absolutely no sign of any hostility in his eyes. Janus sat calmly for a few
minutes and studied her for a little while longer before deciding to respond.
‘Firstly, let’s cut out some of this
unpleasantness if you don’t mind young lady. I can fully appreciate how upset
you must be, but even you know that you can’t just go about making accusations
unless you have some kind of proof to back it up. Secondly, please call me
Janus. Mr Storm sounds far too formal, and finally, let’s just get a few facts
straight shall we?’ At that point, Janus rather cheekily placed his hand on
hers before he continued. His voice sounded so sincere and Dana already began
to have a few doubts. What if she had got it totally wrong? What then?
‘Listen, I admired your father very much. I
can promise you right now, that all I ever tried to do was warn him of the
dangers he could possibly be facing in the future. Sadly, this was clearly to
no avail.’ Dana looked rather puzzled at first. Once again, she wondered if
she’d possibly jumped to the wrong conclusion. Sticking to her instincts
however, which had never let her down in the past, and knowing that her father
would never have been so far off track, she sat back and continued to listen to
the man. Janus started to tell her about his extraordinary gift. He explained
how he received strange visions of the future, with a large majority of the
predictions coming true, or at least pretty damned close to what he’d forecast.
Dana quickly realised that this man was extremely clever and certainly not one
of those crazy people who many people associated with being ridiculous in their
thoughts and actions. She realised that she’d need to get a lot closer to him
in order to be able to obtain the whole truth, providing that she was willing
to sacrifice both herself and her job if need be. The man was an absolute
charmer; there was no doubt about that whatsoever. Dana also knew she’d have to
move very carefully and always be at least two jumps ahead in this dangerous
game that they now appeared to be playing.
Without warning, the heavens opened up and
a great torrent of rain poured from the skies, drenching the two of them in an
instant. The only sensible thing to do was to return and run back towards the
flats. However, by the time they reached Janus’ front door, they were both
laughing hysterically and clinging to each other like little kids. They entered
the interior of the flat with their wet clothing dripping all over the place.
Not that Janus seemed all that worried from what she could make out. Dana was
not the least bit surprised to notice the eastern style décor dotted around the
place. This not only confirmed some of the mystical vibes that emanated from
Janus, but it also matched a very similar description about the woman who’d
gone missing from Surbiton quite recently. Her flat had contained furnishings
that sounded very familiar, according to her late father’s diary. Janus in the
meantime, had already set about lighting an open fire, which appeared to be one
of the main features of the comfy room, having already turned on some soothing
music before handing Dana a well received glass of red wine. As expected, Janus
was an exceptionally smooth operator. As a result, it wasn’t long before they
both lounged around on a set of fur skin rugs beside the fireside. They both
sat wearing freshly pressed dressing gowns while drinking, laughing and talking
together like a couple of long lost friends. He’d also been quite the gentleman
and let her change in the bedroom without disturbing her, as some of her past
associations would have done.
