Mystery: Cozy - Widow - B&B - Missouri
Lexie Starr, a widowed library assistant, converts her boyfriend's B&B into a haunted house for Halloween. But when a young college student is found truly dead in the makeshift coffin in the parlor, the Alexandria Inn has a second murder on the books.
Fearing for her boyfriend's business, Lexie sets out to solve the murder on her own. It seems every suspect has an ax to grind with the victim, until Lexie's determination and impulsiveness turns up the real killer. Now she has to prove it before becoming the coffin's next occupant.

Dedication

Dedicated to my husband, Bob, who has stood by me through thick and thin, even during my darkest hours while I was experiencing several serious health crises. And also to my two stepdaughters, Roxanne Zarda and Stacey Glidewell, for all the joy they have brought to my life, and for giving Bob and I the most wonderful grandchildren in the world.

Chapter 1

“Somebody killed the dead guy!” I heard my daughter, Wendy, shout from the parlor, as something large made a loud thud on the floor. “Come quickly, Mom!”

“What? What did you say?” I shouted back. Surely I was suffering from temporary deafness. I removed the earbuds of my iPod so I could hear more clearly. I’d been listening to George Strait and pinning up a graphic of a ghost in the library, when I’d heard the noise.

“Come into the parlor! The young man, Walter I think is his name, is dead. Really dead!” Wendy yelled. “And I mean really, really dead. Stiff-as-a-board dead! I just spoke to him a little over an hour ago, and he seemed fine at the time. Now he’s dead.”
