Jett thrust into her, one, two, three more times before his seed exploded out of him. His release went on and on. He wasn’t sure how he kept from collapsing on top of her, but he couldn’t stop himself from nuzzling her breast where he’d bitten, up to where the muscle in the shoulder met the neck. He’d mark her right there. His dick throbbed at the thought. The wolf in him howled as his canines ached.

Her body was flushed, slowly cooling in the growing night air. He worried she’d catch a chill, which was absurd since they were wolves, but he straightened. As much as he’d prefer to stay inside her forever, the sooner they got rid of her phone, the safer she would be. More than likely Keith already had men out looking for Taryn, and he didn’t want to be caught with his pants around his knees.

“We need to get moving.” He brushed a hank of hair off her forehead.

She bit her bottom lip. “I think you just did a whole lotta moving.” She flushed.

“Hey.” He caught her chin and brought her face back to his. “What is that look for?”

Taryn tried to look away, but he held her steady. “Me and my friends watched you dance, and sorta compared you to Channing from the movie Magic Mike. I kinda said you were a better dancer than him and would have been awesome in that role.”

Jett raised an eyebrow and waited for her to continue.

“At Full Throttle you danced with some chick, and you humped the floor. I may have said something about wishing I was the floor, and maybe said something about the floor being preggo. There. You happy now?”

She surprised him with her honesty. He rewarded her with a kiss, and not a sensual one, but a sweet melding of lips. “I would’ve preferred to have danced with you. I watched you, too. I thought if a chick can dance like that, surely she is dynamite in bed. I wasn’t wrong.”

She stiffened and he wondered what he’d said wrong. He pulled her into a sitting position, his cock still inside her. “What did I say that pissed you off?”

“Nothing. We should get going you said.” She tried to push him away, but he looped his arms around her waist and pulled her back.

“Fuck me running. Taryn, I am not good at this. I didn’t mean that to come out in a bad way. I’ve never wanted a woman the way I wanted you, only I thought you were off limits because...well shit, I thought you were too young for me. Now, my dick had a mind of its own and seemed to point due Taryn anytime you were in the vicinity.”

“Really? So is that a new direction?” She laughed as he punctuated the fact he was clearly not lying about the hardness factor.

His eyes dancing, he slapped her ass. “Quit trying to lead me around by my cock, wench. We have more pressing matters than my little problem.”

Easing out of her took monumental effort, especially when he was still hard as stone.

She looked down at his dick that was coated with a mix of their essences. “You call that little? Cause from where I’m sitting, I’m pretty sure I’ll be walking a little funny from the pounding I just received.” To give credence to her words she grimaced as she moved her legs together.

Jett loved knowing she’d have a constant reminder of their lovemaking inside her for at least a little while, until her shifter abilities kicked in.

“Are you going to tell me what I said that pissed you off?” Jett buttoned his pants, lifting his nose to the air.

“I’m not some whore who can be passed around. I don’t make it a habit to jump the bones of every male I meet.” She wouldn’t meet his eye.

He realized he’d hurt her feelings. He caught her chin between his fingers, making her face him. Using his thumb he traced her full bottom lip. “I’d never think that of you. If anyone ever speaks of you in such a way, man or wolf, I’ll rip their arms off and beat them with it, after I cut their tongue out.”

She gasped, and he heard her heart speed up. He leaned forward, gently pressing his lips to hers. “Don’t ever doubt you are a woman of worth.”

“Thank you,” she whispered against his lips.

They were both a little sticky with sweat and combined juices, but Jett didn’t think he ever wanted to wash her scent off him. He smiled. “Let’s get rid of that phone before I lose my head again, and cause some damage to my car.”

With ease he lifted Taryn down, making sure she had her footing before he stepped back to grab the device. He caught her hand and walking with her toward the overlook, he took a step back and launched it, watching it sail through the air.

“It’s a good thing I wasn’t attached to that thing like some people.” She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

Jett dropped a kiss on her upturned forehead. Honestly, he couldn’t seem to stop. He wondered if this was what Zayn and Niall had felt like when they’d found Cora and Alaina. He couldn’t imagine being wrapped around a woman the way they were, yet the thought of anything happening to her was intolerable.

“Come on, let’s head back home.” He raised his arms over his head, ignoring the words he’d just said. Home. Yeah, he wasn’t touching that with a ten foot pole.

Chapter Six

––––––––

K
eith watched his whore of a daughter leave with the mangy wolf. He held his men back with a wave of his hand, knowing they’d wanted to rush in and kill. He’d kept them at bay, not allowing them to use her like they’d wanted, thinking she’d be useful as a prize at some point. Now, she gave herself to a worthless male, she was nothing but trash to be used and abused by whoever wanted, he would use that to his advantage.

They waited until the orange car roared off in a cloud of dust before he signaled one of his wolves follow. “If you lose them, don’t come back.” Keith didn’t have to tell him he’d expect to find his fur.

The animal raced off, trailing the couple as he looked at his pack. “We will eliminate the Mystic Pack if it’s the last thing I do, or you will all die trying. Let us go.” Keith shifted, the bones in his body popping and becoming the dire wolf of legends. He allowed the beast free reign as he lumbered back to the vehicle. Some thought he wasn’t as capable in the form he was in, however he never lost his ability to think in any shape he took.

His men stumbled back, giving him plenty of space out of fear, which was fine by him. Keith fed off the emotions of those surrounding him like a babe does its mother. He swore when he noticed the scrap of red silk lying discarded where the vehicle had been parked. “When we find them, the man she is with is to die slowly and by me,” Keith roared.

“Master, do you want us to allow him to live if it means one of us dying?” Keith backhanded the idiot who questioned him, smiling as he flew several feet into the air. The wolf stood back up, years of living under his thumb had taught them to not show weakness.

His razor-sharp claws itched to rip into the throats of all, but he held himself in check. “Get into the vehicle and try not to ask stupid questions,” Keith spat.

The large economy van they’d driven up in had been customized with blacked out windows, a big block engine and cages that would hold even the strongest wolves in the back. However, he didn’t think it would catch up with the vehicle his bitch of a child had just left in. If it hadn’t been for his tracking device in her cellphone, he knew he’d never have found her, especially with the way the one she was with had launched the phone off the side of the cliff.

He growled as he thought about what she had been doing with the male. She was his. His to decide who and when to give her to. When she’d outlived her usefulness, it was his decision if she lived or died, just like her mother.

In the distance, the moon was setting. He waited, getting more agitated as time passed before the wolf he sent after the couple returned. His sides were heaving, spittle flew from his mouth, but he ran up to them like an obedient pup, skidding to a halt in a spray of gravel.

Keith opened his mind, taking over the other beings and watched what he saw. The path was clear, which he knew was killing his wolf, but he shrugged. Prices had to be paid in the war that was being waged. Emerson Glade had started, and he was going to finish it.

As he pulled back, the wolf at his feet fell to the side, its yellow eyes rolling to the back of its head while blood oozed out of its mouth and nose. Keith kicked it away from his door. “We will end things soon my children.” Nods of their obedient heads were his answer. He didn’t expect anything else.

Several of his pack were trying to appear as though they weren’t caught up in the act of looking at their fallen brother, but he saw them. Keith didn’t miss anything.

He’d read the mind of each and every one of his pack, except the spawn he no longer called his daughter. A grim smile touched his lips. Honesty made him acknowledge to himself, at least, that he’d never thought of her as anything other than a vessel to be used. Just as any other female in the pack. If he’d thought he could have bred with her himself he would have, but her mind was closed to him. He wouldn’t risk the vulnerability of allowing himself, that one moment when he spent himself inside a female where he could be injured. Instead, he searched, and worked for years with no luck in creating another like her in the male form. He’d tried to find another fey, but they hid from him, like he was the plague, thanks to the Glades. His one chance at happiness was stolen, and for that they all would suffer a thousand times worse than he ever would.

“They are not worthy to breathe my air, let alone be part of my pack.” He gritted his teeth.

His lieutenant didn’t say a word, the entire vehicle was silent as they drove back toward the home where Taryn had gone to spend her last night, for tomorrow, he’d be sending her to be with her mother. He laughed, imagining the look of fear and surprise on her face. Yes, he couldn’t wait to exact revenge. First with his child, then he’d decimate the pack Emerson loved. Maybe then Payton would see who she should have been with.

E
merson looked at his mate and felt the very air stir with evil. They were so in tuned with each other, he watched her eyes flicker and then widen with recognition.

“Oh, gods, no?” Payton’s breath caught in her throat. “Evil is coming for us. We must prepare,” she whispered.

At any other time he’d have been coaxing her into calmness, or trying to reassure her that all was fine. “We must get all the fey in the area to safety, including you, my love.” He shushed her with a hard kiss. “You have gifted our pack with your powers, along with many of the other fey. If we were to fall beneath this evil, he will come for you. I won’t be able to help the pack if I am worried about your safety. We must call Niall and get our grandson as far away from here as possible. Take your sister, Alaina, and any others who will go. The pack can’t be divided, not in body or mind.”

Payton shivered. “I can fight. We all will stay and fight.”

He shook his head. “He will slaughter everyone, even his own, to get to you. Imagine what he would do to you.” Emerson gripped his mate by the hips, wishing he could erase the fear from her face. “Do you want to be in his clutches? At his mercy? Because let me be frank, he has none.”

“You will defeat him, and then I will come back and properly chastise you.”

He’d gladly allow her to yell, scream, or do whatever she wanted to him. His unruly cock agreed, even all these years later he still wanted her like a teenager.

“I’m going to call Niall and have him bring Nolan and Alaina here. I’ll have him call Zayn and tell him to bring Cora here as well.”

Payton raised her brows, but began covering her gorgeous figure.

Before he could think too hard on it, Emerson grabbed his phone and dialed Niall. He quelled the reflexive relief as his grandson picked up. “Hi, Nolan. Is your father around?”

“Hiya, grandpa. He’s out back cleaning the grill off. Alaina says it’s cause he got distracted that he burned the burgers.” Nolan giggled.

Emerson could imagine what Niall got distracted doing, but held his own laugh inside. “Little nugget, could you holler for your daddy. I need to speak with him, and go get Alaina too.”

“Sounds serious, grandpa. I’m a big boy you know. I can handle big things.” Nolan made a sound like a growl.

Gods he loved that little boy. “Yes you are, and when you get big like your daddy, I’ll let you do all kinds of things. Now, go on, get your dad.”

“Okay, but when I get big, I am gonna be alpha, and then everybody is gonna hear me roar.”

“Nolan, lions roar. We are wolves, we growl. We are ferocious beasts, boy.” Niall’s deep voice could be heard through the phone.

“Awe, dad. I can do whatever I want you said. Oh, and grandpa is on the phone.”

Emerson listened to his grandson shriek as Niall and Nolan played for a few seconds about burning food and starving to death, until the sweet sound of Alaina told them both to stop.

“Hey, Emerson, what’s up? Why are you contacting me through this path instead of our pack way?” Niall asked.

That was the reason Niall made the best alpha. Not that Emerson wasn’t in his day, but his time had passed. “I don’t know that our enemy hasn’t figured out how to follow our mental paths. He is evil incarnate, which is why I’m calling you. You need to bring Nolan and the women here. Payton and the other fey are going to leave pack lands for safety. I will explain more when you get here. I will call Zayn, unless you want to do the honors.”

Niall didn’t speak for a moment, then he came back on. “Alaina is on the other phone with Zayn. They are on their way here. We will come together.”

“Good, see you soon. Stay safe.” Emerson let the phone go silent.

Once he’d secured the fey had indeed left pack lands, the trip to Niall’s home didn’t take any time at all. The rest of the pack were gathered in the alpha’s large kitchen, minus Jett and a couple of the elder members along with Raydon and River. He outlined what he’d sensed to them all, after Niall had given him the floor.

“Our enemy is not your average shifter, boys.” Emerson looked at the young men and women in front of him. “He is more than just a bastard of the highest, he’s an assassin who has no regard for life, human or supernatural. Keith was my brother.” As gasps rounded the room, he let his words sink in. “Payton and I fell in love from the moment I saw her, even though she was fey and they were not to have anything to do with humans. My wolf knew she was my mate, and she felt that same instant connection for me. Keith was my older brother and had never found his own female. When I came home with the scent of Payton on me, he swore she was his, but I knew better. He was always a mean shit, even though we were never close, I still didn’t think he’d try to kill me, just to claim what was mine.”
