The subject of this book, and the approach taken to it, call for a courageous editor and publisher. Robert Ellsberg, who combines those functions at Orbis Books, has been the answer to that prayer. Robert has a vision and skills that are unique in the world of publishing. He is a gift to work with.

For all the witnesses in this story, beginning with John Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev, I thank God. They each paid a price. The witnesses to JFK’s assassination have shared their own critical parts of the truth. Because of their decisions to speak the truth as they saw it, not counting the cost, we can know the truth.

Most of my acknowledgments are in the endnotes. In addition to the documents and witnesses, the notes identify a multitude of researchers and writers, many of whom were seeking answers to President Kennedy’s assassination long before I knew the questions. I am profoundly grateful to them all. Vince Salandria and Marty Schotz have been special guides on my path. I dedicate this book to Vince and Marty, my teachers and friends.
