“Relax, El,” he whispered softly, his perception spot on when I closed my eyes and swallowed. “I’m not going to hurt you, I promise. Just relax for me.”

I clenched my teeth, my body locking up as he pressed deeper. He stopped but I groaned when his other hand reached between my legs and his thumb found my clit, pressing just above it, the pressure making me squirm. My eyes fluttered closed when he brought it to the tip of my bundle and he planted gentle kisses down my spine, his body doubled right over me.

I couldn’t help but circle my hips, pushing myself against him when his thumb sped up and flicked rapidly as he inserted two fingers into my pussy. I was so turned on I didn’t care that my pussy was so wet his quick finger fucking caused me to squelch.

“Oh yeah,” he breathed. “Listen to what I do to you.”

I cried out when he fucked me harder, my orgasm fighting for release. When I pushed myself harder onto his hand, needing more to set me free, he slipped his finger into my arse and I burst. Shamefully I bucked and growled on him, the intensity of my climax making me animalistic and greedy as I ground onto both his hands, forcing his fingers into both holes even more.

“Yeah, baby. Ride my hand. Paint it wet with your cum.”

My fingers tore at the sheet as my spine bent into a perfect arc but as soon as the high started to fall, Reid rolled me down his legs until I was laid flat on my back across the bottom. He moved quickly, kneeling over me, and I watched in awe as he fucked his fist, his eyes holding me hostage. He bared his teeth and growled when stream after stream of his orgasm sprayed across my breasts, neck and face, his gaze dropping from my eyes to watch himself come over me.

His mouth twisted into a dirty grin when he swiped his finger up my breast and neck, collecting his spunk before he wiped it across my lips. Keeping my eyes on his, I trailed my tongue after him, catching and lapping at what he gave me. He watched me, his eyes following my tongue. “I told you yesterday that you’re mine, Elina. That means when I tell you to do something, you do it without hesitation or argument.”

I gawped at him. Was he having a laugh? I could never tell with him, he was always so straight-faced, forever stern and controlled, that I wondered if this was him teasing. When he quirked an eyebrow I realised, nope, he was actually serious. And although I considered this caveman quality, I had actually quite enjoyed my little bit of punishment, my glowing ass cheeks still tingling delightfully. Giving into it, realising life was too short, I shrugged and pointed at him. “Well, Mr Caveman, that’s fine but you ever ask me to call you
Daddy
and I’m outta here. That’s serious sick shit, you know.”

He gawped at me, his forehead creasing, but he shook his head and then chuckled. “Jesus bloody Christ.” He continued to chuckle to himself as he rolled me back over and softly stroked his hand over my sore bottom, every now and then reaching down to tenderly give my cheeks random kisses. I liked that, it made me smile.

Little things and all that.

HIS FACE WAS TUCKED into my belly, his cheek to my skin as his deep grey eyes feasted on mine. We’d laid like that for an age, both of us silent but saying so many things. If I was honest with myself, I knew it was too soon to have these feelings. Yet my heart argued with me. I had never once felt the strength of this ache that bore down inside me before. It was exhilarating, frightening, hopeful and sheer doom all at once.

Reid did things to me, and not just sexually. He made my blood tingle. He made me
see
things, really see things. He made my heart skip and he gave me a reason to smile. When he was close, as strange as it sounds, everything in my past had no consequence anymore. My future; Reid, Lettie, even Jonah and freedom were all I could think about, all I simultaneously dared and dared not think about. I’d been trapped, controlled and used for so long. I knew it was dangerous to hold these ideas, to be hoping for something that hadn’t even been discussed. However, I didn’t want to discuss them either, because if Reid didn’t see things the way I did then what was left?

I shivered. Ice crept through my veins and I winced at the feeling. My fingers itched and something in my head flickered, as though my brain was trying to decode a warning. What the hell?

My veins swelled with energy, my bones shifting to accommodate the swell in my muscles. It was as though my wrath was coming forth but I wasn’t angry. My body was readying itself for my fury but I had never been so relaxed.

“Who is he?”

I blinked out of my reverie when Reid’s quiet growl broke my musings. His grey eyes were dark, his lids hooded as he tried to read me but I frowned and shook my head. “Who?”

“Rowan.” He quirked an eyebrow when my body stiffened under him. I knew he’d seen the doodles on my old backpack. He’d also seen the way I had tenderly stroked my finger over his name.

Shaking my head, I quickly changed the subject. “Are you hungry?”

He didn’t move. His eyes darkened even though I wouldn’t have thought that was possible. His jaw stiffened along with the tendons in his neck. My eyes widened when he flexed his hands, tiny sparks tickling his fingers.

He blinked and lifted his hands to his face, his eyes narrow and his head tipping from left to right as he studied the energy dispersing like it was new to him. His face tensed, his top lip curling a little. Slowly he lifted his eyes back to mine and I flinched at the hatred in his eyes. “What are you, little girl?”

Pain shot through my chest with the spite that swathed his question. Pushing him off me I stood up, glaring down at him. “Don’t talk to me like that, Reid.” He needed to know he couldn’t treat me like that and even though my knees trembled when a tight snarl radiated from him, I held firm, keeping my shoulders straight.

Slowly he moved, almost wraithlike, his tall, firm body fluid and ethereal. I damned myself when I instinctively took a step backwards. His furious eyes never left mine as he stalked towards me until my back hit the wall.

“What the fuck is wrong with you, Reid?”

I gasped when his fingers snapped around my throat and he slammed my head back into the brick, small stars and even a few fairies dancing in my eyesight.

“Reid!” I managed to croak out but he maintained his hold. His eyes were glazed and I frowned. It was like he was drugged and wasn’t seeing me, but seeing right through me. “Reid!”

His lip curled and my eyes widened more when he inched his face closer to mine, his teeth on display along with his repulsion. “You think you can play me, you little whore?”

An ache tore through my heart, along with the adrenaline of my anger.

“You think you can control me? Control my energy. You can’t even take my cock in your ass!”

“Reid?” Something wasn’t right. Reid would never say those things. As alpha as he was, he would never be so crude.

I wheezed, my lungs weeping with the lack of oxygen as he crushed my windpipe. A cruel smile turned his lips and twisted his face. He laughed at me when I grabbed his fingers, desperately trying to release his hold.

“You think you’re so tough, don’t you? The One! You’re nothing but a freak, a runt of Mother Nature’s mistakes.”

I closed my eyes, trying to get into his mind but he was walled up like a fortress, completely indestructible and formidable. Where the fuck was my fury? In my heart I knew it was because I didn’t want to hurt Reid. Even if he was hurting me more than anyone ever had.

But then he said the words I needed to hear.

“When I was inside your dirty little cunt, all I wanted to do was rip out your throat. I just wanted to know what Blaine and his friends had taken from you, but you’re such a whore you open your legs to anyone.”

My eyes snapped open.

He smirked at me but I felt it, the power shifting inside me. This was dangerous but I didn’t have a choice.

“I’ll admit, your pussy was nice and warm, very accommodating, but then again I hadn’t expected anything less. Quite the jovial host, your cunt, isn’t it? It will entertain anything.”

My heart raced, acclimatising to the thickening inside my veins. My brain sparked, almost like it was jump starting my rage. I willed it on. I needed it. I couldn’t understand why it was so slow though. Usually if I was in trouble it was right there with me within the blink of an eye, but it seemed to be struggling, unsure whether it was needed or not.

I couldn’t hold back the growl when he pressed his hand between my legs, my nakedness allowing him to hurt me more as he tightened his fist over my flesh. “You’re a witch, bitch.” He laughed and I stared at him when he found humour in his words, my temper finally snapping.

Fuck this shit.

I blinked. One moment he was forcing me against the wall, one hand squeezing my throat and one twisting the flesh between my thighs, and the next he was at the other side of the room, his body slumped against the wall as blue sparks tingled in my palms.

“You bitch!” he hissed, pushing himself up.

I tried to get through the door but he was on me within seconds, slamming the door shut and throwing me across the room. My head bounced off the brick wall and I recoiled at the pain that fired through my head.

My attempt to crawl across the room was unsuccessful when Reid grabbed my hair and threw me onto the bed, his firm body trapping me underneath him as he climbed on top of me.

“Reid, don’t do this,” I begged when he slid his knee between my thighs and shoved my legs open.

I couldn’t breathe as his fist connected with my cheekbone and agony shot through my face, my head snapping to the side with his blow.

“ENOUGH!” I yelled.

Everything seemed to stop, my heart included when Reid soared across the room. My entire body hummed, a whooshing in my ears making me weep with the pain in my head. The palms of my hands were open, my head snapped to the side, my eyes unblinking and fixed on the thunderstorm that had ascended outside. My jaw dropped as ecstasy filled my veins, my system running on pleasure.

I had no control as I raised my hands in the air and narrowed my eyes on each thunderbolt, my enhanced sight meeting and calling forward every single bolt of lightning.

Turning to face a growling Reid as he stormed across the room to me, I allowed my head to tip backwards and summoned the power.

Reid stalled, his footing stuttering as he slowly turned his face to the window. A sinister laugh exploded from me as a cold smile morphed my face and I tipped my head to him. “Time to die, motherfucker!”

I snapped my fingers, but not before my body sailed through the air, my concentration evaporating when I slammed into the wall. I gasped when energy radiated around me, a bubble of electricity holding me hostage as Ruben stood in the doorway glaring at me. Where the hell he came from I had no idea.

“Let me go!” I screamed. “I need to kill the bastard.”

“No fucking way!”

I narrowed my eyes, growling at him with a rage I’d never felt before. I wanted to burn Reid. I wanted to watch his body writhe in agony beneath me as I surged each of his blood vessels with electricity, frying him from the inside out.

Reid was as trapped as I was in his own caged bubble of energy.

My eyes snapped back to Ruben, a deep hatred seething from me. “LET ME GO!”

He laughed and shook his head. “You think I’m gonna let the two of you kill each other, give Judgement what they want? Fuck that, Princess.”

It was only then I realised Ruben was using energy. My jaw dropped, my rage filtering away.

“Oh my God, you’re the eighth.”

“No, Princess. I’m unique. One and only.”

Jonah settled his hand on Ruben’s arm. “Put them out, we need to find the shit that’s doing this to them.”

Ruben sighed and nodded sadly as he turned his eyes back to me, his gaze full of remorse and guilt. “Sorry, El.”

He nodded firmly and my whole body blazed with heat, my brain frying in my skull. And then everything went black.

MY HEAD THROBBED. MY face smarted and my body ached. I squinted at the bright light, raising my hands to rub my eyes. I growled loudly when I found them completely bound and unmovable.

“Elina?” Ruben was beside me instantly, looking at me with concern.
