“Is the tracking signal working?” Jaxon asked KydEL. After Jaxon and KydEL had been stranded, they insisted that every member of the Prime family get implanted with a tracking device so that they could be found.
KydEL shook his head, “There’s interference. If we were able to get close enough, whatever is causing the disruption in the signal may be corrected.” He looked over at KadEN and Lindsey, then sniffed the air. “You have mated?”
Lindsey blushed a bright red. She couldn’t look the Katieran Commander in the eyes. She mated KadEN while his cousin, who was sent to Kiljor to mate the same man, was taken prisoner. What could she say?
KadEN didn’t seem to have that problem. “We are bond mates and I have mated with her, which is my right by our Goddess KatieRI. However, this is not the time nor place to discuss it. We need to make plans on the retrieval of both your people and mine.”
A lieutenant walked into the room ignorant of the uncomfortable environment. “Sir, the Colonial Leader LarIS is here.”
KadEN nodded for the lieutenant to show the other man in. Lindsey perked up with interest. This was the first time that she had seen anyone from the Colony. The lieutenant escorted into the room a tall man with gorgeous red hair. The man seemed to radiate confidence. When he looked her way, she was taken aback by the green of his eyes set off by the golden irises. She had seen many exotics eyes since coming to Katiera, but this man’s eyes also had an outer ring that appeared to shimmer.
He looked right at her as he spoke, “They do shimmer when I am scanning minds.”
Lindsey shivered. The man’s voice was sexy. Not as sexy as KadEN’s but still, very pleasant. Wait! Did he just read her mind?
The strange man smiled, “I did. I am what Dr. Morris calls a telepath.”
KadEN offered his forearm in greeting. “Thank you for your assistance, Leader LarIS.”
Commander KydEL came over to offer his forearm as well. “It is a pleasure to finally meet you. My brother Prime Medic SydEL told me about your abilities.”
“How is your brother and his lovely mate?”
“They are happily mated and doing very well.”
“And what about their young?”
“Growing bigger every day. We are all excited and awaiting the birth. Let me introduce you to my mate, Prima Captain Jaxon.” He motioned for his mate to step forward.
“You can call me Captain Jaxon. Still not used to the Prima thing.” She reached out her forearm.
Leader LarIS’s eyes lit up. “Ah, the female warrior that I heard so much about from Commander TylOR and some of his lieutenants. It is a true honor to finally meet you. I wish it was under different circumstances.” He offered his forearm to clasp Jaxon’s forearm.
“Kat told me a lot about you too. You can read minds, right? That’s what you did with Lindsey?”
KydEL frowned at her but LarIS laughed. “Yes, and yes. You want to test me by having me tell you what you are thinking right now?” When Jaxon nodded her head, his eyes shimmered as he looked at her eyes. “You are hoping to get to fly a warship and blow up some Morin ass. Now you are thinking about the makeup sex that you and Prime Commander shared right after you fought and how you want to continue …”
“Okay, that’s enough.” Jaxon blushed as she interrupted LarIS from saying anything more.
Lindsey was glad that she had kept her mind free of anything related to KadEN and being naked. KadEN naked made her wet her lips. She looked at LarIS quickly finding him smiling at her with his shimmering eyes. Damn it! Think of little blue balls …

LarIS laughed out loud. Everyone looked at him strangely. Much of the time being able to know what everyone was thinking was quite burdensome. But being around these Earth females was extremely pleasant. He needed to find him one to mate with for sure.
KadEN directed everyone to take a seat. “Not only do we have Leader LarIS and his people to thank for coming to our rescue, but he has been gracious enough to agree to use his special abilities to pinpoint the exact location of the Morins.”
“Can you do that from here?” Lindsey asked.
“Unfortunately, Kiljor is too far away. I questioned the prisoners that you had in the Medic Wing. I got a few things from them before they passed on from blood loss. They had narrowed down the search a great deal. I will need to board a Transport and attempt to get closer to the location we believe they are hiding. Once I am close enough, I will be able to pick up thoughts of the Morins.”
“What are we waiting for?” Jaxon asked.
KydEL looked at her in frustration. “I would like for you to stay here.”
“No way, buddy. We are a team. Where you go, I go,” Jaxon stated firmly making KydEL sigh in surrender.
Lindsey wanted to laugh at their antics. It was clear that Jaxon had the large Commander wrapped around her little finger. She looked over at KadEN. He was watching her. It was a little scary to see such emotion for her in his eyes.
“Commander TylOR and Prime Commander KydEL will organize the team. We hope to be able to move within two hours. The sooner the better,” KadEN announced standing and ending their meeting.
Chapter Seventeen
“So, you and KadEN, huh?” Jaxon asked Lindsey as they walked together to her suite.
“Yeah, I hope I’m not upsetting anyone. AriELa suspected that KadEN and I had feelings for one another, though we both had been denying it. She was the one who encouraged me to return to Kiljor to find out what my feelings were and to see if he felt the same. I … love him.”
“Hey, I’m not judging you. I knew that AriELa’s heart wasn’t in the match with KadEN. I had always suspected she had a thing for TarAK. Watching that video today, seeing how she reacted when he got hurt only confirmed it.”
“Do you think the Primes will be upset that there won’t be a Prime Mating between the two nations?”
“No, I don’t think so. Everyone just wants AriELa back home safe and sound.”
Lindsey nodded, “I want that too.”
“So … what do you think about this LarIS guy? Does that mind-reading shit bother you?” Jaxon asked as they sat on the sofa in Lindsey and AriELa’s suite.
KadEN wanted her to move into his suite but she wanted to stay where she was, at least until they found AriELa. She knew the High Council was still not happy with the turn of events. KadEN refused to tell her what they had said to him when he informed them that she was his bond mate. But it had to be bad from the way he had gotten angry.
Lindsey shrugged her shoulder, “If he can find AriELa and the others by using his gift, then I am all for it.”
“Yeah, me too. It doesn’t hurt that he is easy on the eyes either.”
Lindsey gave her a wide smile, “Not bad, not bad at all.”
Both women giggled. They spent the next thirty minutes relaxing and snacking on some food that Lindsey had in her kitchenette. They also shared stories. Jaxon told her about when she and Prime Commander KydEL had to crash-land their warships. Lindsey couldn’t tell her much about hers and KadEN’s experience. She didn’t remember much of it except for the pain.
A Kiljorn Lieutenant came to escort them back to the Operations Room. Lindsey walked in, side by side with Jaxon. She was starting to feel some of her confidence in herself return. For a while, she had become lost. Fighting how she felt about KadEN, not leaving things on a good note with her father, just not happy with who she had become.
Now, she held her shoulders back and walked into the Operations Room with pride and dignity. She was the bond mate of the Prime Leader of Kiljor. She already loved him and she knew that she would grow to love his people as well.
KadEN, KydEL, and LarIS were the only ones left in the operations room. The three men stood and welcomed the two women back.
“Okay, so now that the big boys had time to make their little plans, do you want to tell the women folk what those plans are?” Jaxon asked sounding pissed that she and Lindsey had been excused from the planning session.
Lindsey tried hard not to smile, but Jaxon just had a way about her no one else had. The three men looked confused but recognized the slight angry tone in her voice. None of them except Prime Commander KydEL had the tiniest clue how to handle the warrior woman.
KadEN stood and walked over to Lindsey, kissing her cheek and taking her hand in his. He led her over to where he was sitting and pulled up a chair right next to his. KydEL, however, stayed in his seat and patted his lap. Jaxon walked over to his seat, kicked it out from under him making him fall to the floor, and then took the chair for herself.
KydEL wasn’t angry. He sprung up to his feet laughing. He leaned down, picked Jaxon up in his arms, and then sat down with her in his lap. She punched him on the arm but she was smiling.
Lindsey envied the easy relationship they had. Each able to be who they were without worry the other would try to hold them back and keep them down. Lindsey hoped that she and KadEN would eventually have that kind of easy relationship.
KadEN reached out to take her hand again, squeezing it. All her nerves seemed to just disappear. She felt as if they were partners, a team, which she had never had with a man before—it was thrilling.
Leader LarIS sat there feeling slightly out of place. What these two males had was so precious. He wished he could find someone that fit him as well as these Earth females fit these males. Their feelings for one another were so strong, their thoughts were broadcasting loudly. He didn’t want to intrude on the intimate thoughts, but he found himself curious.
What would it be like for him?
LarIS cleared his throat, “Mmm … excuse me, but though I find everyone’s thoughts quite entertaining, it might be helpful to focus on why we are here.”
The females blushed which was very becoming, but the males growled their displeasure. KadEN spoke, “Right, Commander TylOR and AshOR are organizing the rescue teams. We are preparing the Colonial Transport with warships and a team of medics. The Katieran Transport will remain here to guard over Kiljor until the defenses are back up to one hundred percent.”
Lindsey looked at KadEN worriedly, “Are you going to go on the Transport?”
KadEN shook his head, “No, I will be remaining here. Commander TylOR and his brother will be going in my place. Leader LarIS and Prime Commander KydEL will also be going on the Colonial Transport.”
Jaxon stiffened in KydEL’s lap. “And where will I be while you are on the Colonial Transport?”
KydEL sighed, “You will be with me. I knew you wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“Damn straight.” Jaxon gave him a look that said there would have been serious repercussions if he had left her behind.
“When will they be leaving?” Lindsey asked.
“Another forty minutes,” KadEN told her.
The tension in the room was palpable. Everyone was worried over what was happening to the prisoners. Would they get to them in time?
“How is everyone else doing? Prime Leader RendEL? Prima Cassie? The twins? My family?” Lindsey asked.
“You haven’t heard?” Jaxon asked in shock.
“Heard what?” Lindsey asked. The hairs on Lindsey’s arms stood up.
Jaxon gave her a devilish look. “You haven’t talked to your father lately?”
Lindsey looked at Jaxon as if she lost her mind. “Uh … no, I have been on an entirely different planet for the last few weeks.”
Prime Commander KydEL looked uncomfortable. “Jaxon, I don’t think this is the time.”
“Why not? Lindsey should know what is going on with her father.”
“Know what? What’s going on with my father?” Lindsey’s heart raced. She was worried that his cancer came back. KadEN squeezed her hand to give her comfort.
Jaxon looked like she was having a grand old time. “It seems that a certain person’s father has been doing the nasty with another certain person’s mother. Their secret affair was discovered in the most … unusual way.”
“What’s the nasty and affair?” KadEN asked looking very confused.
“They are both Earth terminology. Both mean sexual relations except that ‘Nasty’ is more crude,” Leader LarIS informed him.
Everyone turned to look at LarIS in surprise. He shrugged his shoulders. “I read it from Miss Carreli’s mind.”
Lindsey ignored the fact that LarIS had been reading her mind. She knew Jaxon was talking about her father and SandELa. Obviously, there was more going on than what she thought. “Okay, I get it. My father and … Prima SandELa. What aren’t you telling me?”
“You knew about this?” KydEL asked.
“I found out right before I returned here to Kiljor.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?” KydEL demanded her answer.
KadEN growled, “That is my mate you are talking to.”
“It was my father’s personal business. I may work for the Katieran Nation, but my personal life is my own, that includes my father.”
KydEL puffed up his chest, “When your personal business involves my mother, I have the right to know about it.”
“Oh please! You and your brothers have been so busy with your own lives that none of you thought one bit about how lonely your mother must be.” Lindsey defended her father. She may not have been on board with this relationship from the beginning, she wasn’t going to let anyone take away her father’s chance at finding happiness.
“If your father was interested in my mother, he should have approached her sons to get permission to pursue her.” KydEL stated.
Lindsey would have rebuked him but Jaxon spoke up first, “They are both adults and do not need anyone’s permission.”
“I did tell my father that he and your mother should let you and your brothers know about their relationship. I left it to them because it was their relationship to defend,” Lindsey admitted.
“None of this matters anyway, they are a done deal,” Jaxon said nonchalantly.
“What do you mean a done deal?” Lindsey asked.
“They are mated, officially.”
“They had a mating ceremony without me being there? When did this take place?” Lindsey was hurt that they would not wait for her to come back before having a ceremony.
