“It is you!” Smitty crowed.

“Hey, Smitty.”

“What you waiting for, girl? Gimme a hug.”

She hopped off Tell’s lap and let Smitty scoop her up and spin her around.

Tell drained his beer.

“I haven’t seen you in forever. You’re still looking like a million bucks.”

“Thanks, Smitty.”

“What’re you doin’ here? Not in this bar,” he clarified, “but in Wyoming?”

“I’m working in Sundance.”

“No shit? Huh. Don’t get over there much. Have you seen Deck?”

She dodged the question. “How’s Janice?”

“Fat and mean-mouthed. In other words, the same.”

“Didn’t you always say it takes one to know one?”

Smitty’s pseudo-friendly demeanor changed. “You seen Deck?” he repeated.

Georgia’s fake smile faltered. “No. Why would I have?”

“So you don’t know that him and Tara-Lee are havin’ a kid? They’ve been tryin’ for years.”

“You’d think it would’ve happened sooner beings they’d been practicing since I was married to Deck.”

Tell draped his arm over Georgia’s shoulder. “Smitty.”

Smitty’s gaze winged back and forth between them. “You gotta be kidding me. You two are together?”

“Yep.” He didn’t elaborate. Neither did Georgia.

And Smitty fidgeted in the silence.

“I gotta get. See ya around.” He scowled at Tell and lumbered off.

“Gee, if that’s a preview of how the reunion is gonna go, I’m thinking I’ll skip it.”

Tell pressed his lips to her temple. “Now why would you wanna do that? This is just startin’ to get interesting. You want another drink?”

“No. I should go.”

He tipped her head back. “Why? You bored?”

“I feel like I’m intruding on guy time.” Georgia gave him that sexy, crooked smile. “Besides, I want to spend time with you. Alone with you. Don’t you want that?”

Well, hell, what was he supposed to say to that?

Say yes, you dumb fucker.

Georgia placed her hands on his chest. “Your lack of enthusiasm for that idea is giving me the impression this attraction is one-sided.”

“Bull. You just wanna set the pace of how things are gonna go between us.”

“That’s because things aren’t
going
anywhere.”

“Where do you suggest we take things on our third date, Georgia? Skip the getting to know each other part and head straight for the nearest bed?”

She backed up. “You know what? You’re right. I’m being pushy. I’ll go. Thanks for the drink.” She spun away from him.

Tell wouldn’t have believed Georgia could run in such ankle-breaking heels, but she was hightailing it out the door.

Dammit.

Tim clapped him on the back. “So, McKay, when the fuck did you hit your head?”

Tell glared at him. “What the hell are you talking about?”

He pointed toward the exit. “Dude, you’ve got a screw loose if you’d rather be with us than her.”

The guy had a point.

“Thanks for the kick in the ass, buddy, I owe you.” Tell took off, catching her halfway across the gravel parking lot. He picked her up, covering her shriek of surprise with his mouth.

She fought him for about two seconds, then her arms wound around his neck and she kissed him back.

He didn’t stop moving until he reached the back end of his pickup, setting her down long enough to drop the tailgate. He hoisted her onto his lap, facing him, crossing her ankles behind his butt.

The light in the parking lot allowed him to see her face, but the angle he’d parked his truck meant no one could see them.

“You flounced off in a snit before I got to say my piece.”

“Because I’ve heard that particular piece before.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah. We’re taking it slow. You’re gonna spend two solid days in my bed once we finally get there…blah blah blah.”

That seemed a little sarcastic. “But you don’t believe it?”

“I’ll believe it when I see it.” Georgia let her fingers trace his jawline, the hollows of his cheeks, the corners of his eyes and the arch of his eyebrows. Then she murmured, “Look at you. So different now. You’re all man. Hardly any trace remains of that cute high school boy I knew.” Her mouth curled into a mysterious smile.

“That’s an interesting smirk, hot lips.”

“Just wondering if that high school boy still inside you is afraid I’ll reject you if you try and touch me.”

His jaw tightened beneath her stroking fingers. “Not true.”

“So true.” Georgia flicked her tongue across the seam of his lips. But rather than diving in for a kiss, she retreated. “Come on, McKay. Don’t you want to get to second base with me tonight?”

Automatically his gaze dropped to her chest. Damn. She’d always had such a great rack. Now that he was inches away from those perfect breasts…the
go slow
portion of his adult brain was suddenly silenced by the
show me your boobies!
section of his teenage brain.

No surprise which side won.

“I’ll admit that contraption you’re wearing—while sexy as all get-out—is a little intimidating for a simple country boy like me.”

“It’s just a bustier.”

“Mmm. The
boost-e-ay
needs gone.” Tell’s hot gaze hooked hers. “Untie the bow.”

She curled the satin ribbon around her finger and gently tugged until the bow disappeared, leaving two short ribbons dangling along each side.

“Show me more.”

The next two hooks didn’t reveal much.

Georgia must’ve been impatient because she popped the last few hooks in rapid succession until the bustier hung open completely, and
goddamn
he could see smooth white flesh from her neck to her navel. And those pretty, perky nipples.

“Beautiful.” He slid his hands up her back and around her rib cage to peel away the sides of the stiff material. His thumbs stroked the underswell of her breasts and the soft, plump sides. Each new stroke sent gooseflesh across her arms. Seeing her reaction caused his cock to jerk against his zipper.

“Tell. Please. Touch me.”

Since she asked so nice… “Remind me again about second base. ’Cause I never got to it in high school.”

“You’re kidding me.”

“Nope. I was a late bloomer, remember? So second base means I just get to touch? Or do I get to use my mouth?”

“Uh. It can be whatever you want.”

“Oh. I want all right.” Tell lowered his head and Georgia arched back slightly. He pursed his lips around the already hard nipple and sucked.

She groaned and bit her lower lip.

He delicately swirled his tongue around the crest of her nipple until she squirmed. Then he bit down with enough pressure to get her attention.

“What the…” She shuddered when he did it again.

Tell pulled her upright and pressed her against the hard planes of his chest. He brushed his lips over her ear, keeping his hand cupped around her breast trapped between them. “You like a little pain.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Liar.” He pinched her nipple and she quivered.

“Tell—”

“Do you like that? Yes or no?”

“Yes, okay? Yes. Do it again.”

Another pinch brought forth another moan from her.

“You will be honest with me, Georgia. Even if you haven’t been honest with other men who’ve enjoyed your body. Maybe especially if that’s been the case.” He blew gently in her ear. “Make no mistake. I will enjoy the hell out of this body, and I can give you everything you’ve been afraid to ask for.”

“God, you’re killing me. Please. More.”

He growled and pushed her back. Squeezing her tits together so he could nip and suckle her nipples. Making her moan and thrash. The scent of her arousal teased his nose every time she rocked her hips forward. And damn if she wasn’t riding the sweet spot on his cock. And double damn if he didn’t just want to spin her around, yank her pants down and fuck her. Leaving suck marks over every inch of that beautiful skin. From beneath her strong, stubborn chin to the tips of these tasty nipples.

Georgia moaned louder; her fingernails dug into his biceps as she pushed her nipple against his teeth.

Fuck. She was hotter than fire. Tell sucked harder, switching between her left and right nipples. Licking. Biting. Devouring her until she released a long wail.

A pair of male voices echoed to them. “Did you hear that?”

“What? I don’t hear nothin’.”

“That’s because you’re drunk. Them grunting and moaning sounds mean someone is getting fucked good.”

“Let’s see if we can find ’em,” the drunken guy slurred. “I wanna watch live porn. See some big bouncing titties.”

They both froze. Tell’s eyes met Georgia’s. He mouthed, “Sorry.”

She wasn’t happy as she began to re-fasten the hooks with shaking hands. He didn’t offer to help; he just kept his hands on her lower back, holding her steady. The only thing that’d stopped him from fucking her right there on the tailgate of his truck was…well, they were on the tailgate, in the parking lot of a damn bar. He wanted so much more than bouncing in the bed of his truck the first time he made her come undone.

Good timing, though, with the interruption from the peeping drunks. Tell had been seconds away from throwing common sense and caution into the wind, taking Georgia amidst the hay, dirt and tools in his truckbed. How fucking romantic would that have been?

She tapped his shoulder to get his attention. “You can let go of me now.”

“Sure.” Tell stood and set her back on her feet.

She made a big show of straightening her clothes and a big point of not looking at him.

“Georgia, I’m sorry—”

“Me too.” Her gaze snapped to his. It wasn’t embarrassment in her eyes, but anger. Or frustration?

He took a step forward only to have her take a step back.

“Stay where you are, Tell McKay. I seem to lose all rational thought when you put your hands on me.”

Tell couldn’t help but grin. “But, sweetness, that’s the way it’s supposed to be when I’m touchin’ you.”

“Not in public. Again. Not when you have no intention of following through after getting me so worked up. Again. I’m such an idiot. Again.” Georgia took another step back. “Look, I have to go.”

“But—”

“Do you want to come back to my place so we can finish what you started?”

When he didn’t immediately answer, she released a harsh laugh. “I didn’t think so.” She whirled around and set off at a good clip across the parking lot.

He followed her.

She stopped beside a black Honda with Texas plates. “I’ll see you.”

“When?” he demanded.

“Not tomorrow. I can’t…I have something else going on.”

Why did he get the feeling she was lying? “Fine. Thursday night. I’ll pick you up. We’ll go out for a nice supper.”

“Tell, I don’t think—”

He closed the distance between them. “I will be at your place at seven on Thursday night.”

“All right.”

“And you are gonna give me a goodnight kiss.”

“Why don’t you just take one?” she taunted.

“Great idea.” He clamped one hand on her ass and grabbed a fistful of her hair, angling her exactly where he wanted as he plundered her mouth.

They’d shared some hot kisses over the last three days, but nothing like this. This kiss was a primal preview of every raunchy, dirty, kinky thing he planned to do to her. At least three times.

Maybe he felt a little smug that Georgia whined a protest when he broke the kiss. Maybe he felt a little cocky, seeing the dazed look of need that had heated her pale irises to a deeper blue.

“Drive safe.”

Chapter Eight

Trying to do twelve things at once, she let the phone ring six times before she brusquely answered, “This is Georgia Hotchkiss.”

“Georgia. I had to hear from Smitty that you got a job in Wyoming?”

She’d wondered how long before the news reached her father. “It’s been what? Four months since we’ve talked?”

“I’m calling you now. How long are you in Sundance?”

Why wouldn’t he assume her job was permanent? “The event promotion company I work for has taken over the summer rodeo events for our latest acquisition. I’m here to ensure it all runs smoothly.” She’d keep the conversation short. “Was there something you needed?”

“I can’t even call my own daughter? You’re too good to talk to your dad now?”

Georgia paced. “I’m not going to fight with you. I doubt you would’ve called me if Smitty hadn’t mentioned he’d seen me at Ziggy’s on Tuesday night, right?”

A pause. “Fine, I’ll admit Smitty called me.”

“I didn’t realize you and Smitty were so close.”

“We ain’t. He’s still good friends with Deck. He wondered if Deck would be upset when he heard you were back.”
