Sadiq felt a rush of triumph course through him as his name escaped her lips and in that instant, he knew that this was what he'd come back for. He'd fooled himself into thinking that he'd been looking for revenge. Now that she was back in his arms, he knew that she was the real reason why he'd jumped on the jet so hastily after reading the article. He'd missed her.
He closed his eyes as the sweet smell of strawberries filled his senses. It was the same smell that had been ingrained in his pillows. Even after learning of her duplicity, he couldn't get himself to get rid of the pillows or the sheets.
Growling, he knew that he wasn't going back to sniffing sheets. He would do whatever it took to make her stay with him even if that meant carrying her back on the jet against her will.
Quickly, he removed her panties, leaving only her dress and heels on, and plunged deep into her sweet recesses. He groaned as he began pumping in and out slowly, stretching out the pleasure as her moans ushered him on. Soon, instinct took over and he picked up his speed. Her nails dug into his back as she convulsed around him and he came.
Sighing, he dropped his head between her breasts and silently cursed her clothing. Closing his eyes, he took in a deep breath and relaxed.
He had missed everything about her. Even if she had sold him out, he felt wonderful, invincible when he was with her. He would forgive her for what she did, he decided. It wasn't as if she was a bad person. She had probably just needed the money. "Jenny." He said breathlessly as he brushed his lips against hers. "Whatever they're paying you, I'll pay you double."
Jenny froze. Did he think that she was willing to sell her body? "Get out."
Sadiq cursed. "Look, I'm sorry if I was rough. I admit I was blindsided by what you did, but I
understand
. Quit your job and move in with me. I'll buy you everything you need and you can take pictures of whatever you like. We can go to Rome, Venice, wherever you want."
"Get out," she gritted. How could she live with someone who thought she slept around for money? Pain seared through her heart. She had given him her heart and he had crushed it into a million tiny pieces. Again.
"Triple. I'll pay you triple to quit your job."
She snorted. "I already quit. Now will you please go?"
"What do you mean you quit? Did you make enough money off this to retire?"
She couldn't believe it. He was judging her now?
"Sadiq, please just go."
"Not without you," he said plainly before seizing her lips into another kiss.
She broke free from the kiss. "I didn't tell anyone what you and Raja were planning! I don't know what kind of sick revenge game you're playing, but you're doing it to the wrong person!"
"Don't lie to me. No one knew about the plan except you, Raja and my father. I already told you I understand why you did what you did. You don't have to lie to me anymore."
"You!" Jenny trembled as her tears threatened to come out. How could he think so lowly of her? That she would sell information about him and ruin something that he cared so much about? He obviously didn't know her. If he had, he would've known that she would've never done anything like this.
Anger burned inside of her. Though it didn't matter, the desire to prove that she was better than people like George or Higgins gnawed at her.
She got out of bed and went to the cabinet by her bookshelf and took out a sleet of papers from it. She thrust the papers to him. "My bank statements. You'll see that there haven't been any suspicious activity. And as for cash." Her voice was trembling now, but she still forced a laugh as she gestured towards her room. "You'll see that I don't really have much. Before you start accusing me of betraying you, you should look at your own people first."
His eyes locked on hers challengingly. After what seemed to be the longest wait in her life, Sadiq cursed, crumpling the papers and sat down on the nearest chair. He ran his hand frustratingly through his hair. "Damn it, Jenny. Why did you leave me?"
The unexpectedness of the question and the sadness in his eyes kicked the air out of her. It was as if he actually cared.
Knowing that this could be some kind of a trick, she treaded carefully. "Sadiq. I have, well, I had a job. People need to work to pay their rent, buy things, eat..."
"I know that," he interrupted. "But don't you see that I would've taken care of the woman that I love?" He asked frustratingly as he looked at her with grave eyes.
Jenny froze. Had she heard that right?
"You love me?" She asked, dumbfounded.
"Of course I love you. Why would I have brought you home to introduce to my family?" He laughed bitterly and shook his head. "And why I came back." He mumbled something in Arabic that she didn't understand.
"I thought you just wanted revenge," she said when he finished.
"People of my acquaintance always stab me in the back, but I have never gone to them, looking for 'revenge.'" He said in quotes. He shrugged as he combed his hair with his hand. "I needed to see you and the article gave me a reason to." He shrugged. "So I took it."
Jenny shook her head wordlessly as she slumped into the chair across Sadiq. She didn't know if she could actually believe what she was hearing, but what did she have to lose? If he was playing her, her heart would get a momentary reprieve. But if it was true? Her mind boggled at what that actually meant.
"For what it's worth, I love you too."
She looked at Sadiq and was surprised when he grabbed a hold of both of her hands. "Then move in with me," he said with an urgency that surprised her. After a second, he cursed. "Hell, I want it all. Marry me."
Yup, she was definitely dreaming. "Are you sure?"
"Of course, I'm sure. It's been hell without you. I need you in my life. Always. Marry me, Jenny."
She smiled as tears of joy ran down her face. "Okay."
Epilogue
One Year Later
Sadiq smiled as he looked down at their handsome baby boy, Rishi.
They had named him after his assistant, who'd turned out to be not only the magazine's source, but also a spy for his father. Apparently, Sadiq's father had hoped that the article would force Sadiq to move back to Atal.
Because of this, he hadn't been able to stay mad at Rishi for too long. And besides, if it wasn't for him, he would've never had met Jenny.
Thankful, he shook his head, smiling. He owed a lot of Rishi, but that didn't mean that he'd let him go unpunished. He had had him set up a nursery in his New York office for the employees to drop their children at and for the past five months, Rishi had been almost single-handedly running it, doing everything from feeding the children to changing the diapers of the youngest ones.
Sadiq hadn't told him yet, but his stint would only be short-lived until Jenny was ready to take over. Though she had sold some of the pictures she had taken on their honeymoon, she loved children and Sadiq liked the idea of her being near him.
He smiled at Jenny. "We made a beautiful son, didn't we?"
His heart sped up when she beamed at him. "Yes, he looks like a miniature you."
"But with your eyes."
"Ah, the best of both worlds, I see."
"You minx," he growled as he wrapped his arms around her and dropped a kiss on her nose. "How about we try for a daughter this time?"
"And if it's another boy?" She laughed as he reached for the clasp on her dress.
"Then, I guess we'll just have to try again, love."
