Chapter 52

Gavyn’s
stayed in the car while I ran into the house to get my purse and luggage. He popped the trunk and I tossed both inside. It took me five minutes of trudging around in the high grass at the lake to find my cell phone. He didn’t speak when I joined him in the car again.

We drove for a few minutes. “Turn here.” I pointed to a small dirt road between the pine trees. When I was a kid I’d ride down it on my bike, but other than that it went unused
for the most part. He lifted an eyebrow, but did as I asked.

“Park here.”

He shifted the car into park and stared straight ahead without looking at me. “I’m just… in shock at what happened. I showed up to get you at the Pleasant House with Mac and a bouquet of flowers. The admissions nurse told me Brody had picked you up already. I had to drive all the way home to leave Malcolm with my mom before coming back for you because I had no idea what I’d find or what I’d do when I did.” The hurt and worry he’d been carrying was evident as he slowly turned his head to look at me.

Brody’s plot was convincing. I couldn’t understand….”

Gavyn
cut my sentence off by placing his hands firmly on the sides of my face and crushing his mouth to mine. I sighed deeply. It was the biggest breath of relief I’d ever released. He kissed my bottom lip delicately, then the top, before switching to full on passion mode as he probed his tongue between both of them.

I unbuckled my seatbelt and climbed across the center console to get closer to him. His arms went around me and I moan
ed into his mouth as I touched his chest. “The gear shift is poking me in the ass.”

Kinky.” He grinned as he pulled on the car door handle. I nearly toppled onto the ground, but he held me firmly to him as he climbed out. My legs went around him as he carried me to the front of the car. “If we get caught, I’m blaming you.” He set me down on the hood with my legs spread.

My clothing limited his touch and I hated it. I lifted my shirt over my head and tossed it behind me. It landed on a tree branch.
Gavyn worked on my pants, unbuttoning and pulling them down over my feet. He kissed my foot tattoo first, worked his way along my calf, and then to my inner thigh.

“I th
ought our love had been a dream,” I whispered as his tongue glided between my folds, over my clit, and the up and over my belly button. I bit my lip, turning my head to the side, unable to make eye contact when he finished the journey up my body.

He grasped my face with one hand as his other worked his erection free from his pants. As he turned me to face him, he kissed my breasts before looking into my eyes. “I will never
….”

I turned my head to look away, but he made me look at him again before finishing his sentence. “…ever stop loving you. I don’t care if you go bat shit crazy.
You and I are forever.”

“I love you. Don’t ever let me go.” I
encircled him with my arms and pulled him against me. My hands slid underneath his shirt and I lightly scratched at his back with my fingernails. I wrapped my legs around him and forced him closer. His cock pressed firmly on my thigh.

He repositioned himself and pushed all the way into
my center. I arched my back in response and looked up into the clear blue sky. His lips were everywhere as he began to thrust… my neck, ears, chest, eyelids, and mouth. We’d almost lost each other, but now we were together entwined again.

The sun’s position had moved the next time I opened my eyes for
a split second. Gavyn had been making love to me for a long time, patiently. I’d been filled on each thrust, over and over, until I knew and cared about nothing else.

“You’re my goddess,
” He groaned into my ear. His breath was hot and lips vibrated against my flesh. “Believe me?” He asked, as he rubbed the tender nub between my legs to work me to orgasm first.

I clenched down around him and rested my
head on the metal roof of the car where I was firmly pinned. “Yes!”

“Look at me,”
he whispered. His hand stroked my hair away from my face.

Barely able to breathe, I opened my eyes and
became lost in his. The sweat on his brow glistened in the sunlight. For the first time, I noticed how bloodshot his eyes were behind his glasses. I reached up and touched his cheek with my palm as he gazed down at me. He thrust a few more times, not breaking eye contact with me until he released and his eyes closed slowly.

His firm
pecs tightened as I watched his expression of pure pleasure. For a moment, his mouth hung open a fraction of an inch and he made several groans and winces.

He rested his forehead against mine, breathing ruggedly when he’d finished. “You okay?” Several soft kisses were placed on my lips.

“I have you again. I’m more than okay.”

He chuckled at little. “We should get out of here.” His hips moved and he grinded into me.

“Mmm. I can’t.”

He slipped his hands beneath my butt and lifted me up without slipping out of me. We stayed that was for a while, sa
voring each other’s lips before he carried me around the car and eased me into the passenger seat naked. He gathered my discarded clothing and handed them to me when he sat down in the car. “I am so ready for our honeymoon.”

Epilogue

One year later—

“Malcolm, I’m on the phone. Keep it down for a few seconds, please.” I removed my hand that had been covering the receiver. Mac scowled. The long car trip was not sitting well with him.

Gavyn parked in front of my parents’ house and turned off the ignition as he waited for me to finish the call.

“Yes, Dana, the mental health a
wareness people are going to want you to give a short speech,” I told my assistant.

She cur
sed, “I ain’t that great at this shit. You’re gonna owe me for this.”

“I thought your cushy job was enough.” I smiled to myself.

I’d hired Dana to work at the art gallery Gavyn and I had opened six months ago. He’d finished business school and I’d dropped out of college to pursue my new dream. The drawings and paintings had started at Winford Pleasant House. The idea grew from there. The sadness, beauty, and hope my art revealed touched a lot of people. The artwork raised money for charities that supported those with mental illnesses and their families.

“You’re such a bitch. I got this. Love
ya, gal.” She hung up on me before I could respond.

“Ready?”
Gavyn asked. “And you’re sure Brody isn’t going to be around?”

I glanced at the house I’d lived in for most of
my life except for the last couple of years. My parents were standing at the front porch, anxious to greet me and my family. “He’s working out of town. Mom guaranteed it. I guess I’m ready.”

Gavyn
unlocked the doors and Mac hopped out first. “I’m free,” my son yelled, stretched, and ran in a circle around the car.

I’d been distracted when we parked, so I hadn’t seen that a car was parked in front of the four car garage at the side of the house. It had a tight, white tarp over it and I recognized the outline immediately. My breath caught in my throat in a gasp. I shut my car door and immediately walked toward it.

Malcolm had run off to meet my parents. I saw him extend his hand before I continued toward the car. “Hi, I’m Mac. So you’re my new grandpa and grandma. I’ll make a list of all the things I want for Christmas.”

I would have laughed if I was
n’t intent on seeing my old car. Gavyn jogged to catch up with me when he noticed I was going in the opposite direction as the main house.

“Farrah?”
He rested his hand on the small of my back when I didn’t answer.

Inhaling deeply, I grabbed the corner of the tarp and lifted it, expecting to see a destroyed, water damaged, and wrecked
vehicle.

“Let me do it.
” Gavyn helped me since every step I took lately required effort and I was supposed to be taking it easy. When he jerked back the cover, I saw the car just as I remembered it… in perfect condition. My parents’ must have had it restored, though I knew it was probably only cosmetic.

I looked into the driver’s window and smiled as I thought about my first ride on my sixteenth birthday.

“You’re going to hit the mailbox!” My brother yelled.

“Shut up, asshole. I can drive.”

“Yeah, right.”
He corrected my steering and I slapped at his hand.

“Stop it.”

He started laughing loudly. “Man, this is a nice ride. I can’t believe Dad bought you this.”

“It’s because I’m not stupid. You got caught drinking and driving before you even had a license. Plus… it doesn’t have a backseat.” I joined in his laugh
ter.

“Like that’s going to stop you. Speaking of which, let me hop out so you can go smooch on Brody.” He puckered his lips and
started making out with the back of his hand to mock me.

I rolled my eyes. “Wow, really? You do not act your age.” I braked
too hard on purpose and he shook his head before opening the door. He leaned back in to grin at me.

“Bye, sis.”

“Goodbye, Franklin.”

I touched the car lightly with my fingertips. “Goodbye, brother,” I whispered.

Gavyn
rubbed my back and kissed my cheek. “I’m proud of you for being so strong and coming here to visit.” His other hand rested on my big pregnant belly. “She needs to get to know her grandparents.”

“Thank you.”

He smiled and winked. “I love both my girls. You ready to find Mac and see what kind of trouble he’s caused?”

I nodded and held
my husband’s hand as we walked toward the house. “How would you describe life right now? Perfect? Wonderful? Magical? Hectic?” I laughed.

He only said one word.

“Lovely.”
