To you, I'll give the world
To you, I'll never be cold
'Cause I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right.
And the songbirds are singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before.

CHAPTER ONE

Driving away from Riley was hard. I want to do the type of things to that girl that even make me blush just thinking about them. I don’t even think she realizes that when she looks at me, I feel like she’s staring right into me. Like, she can see past the man I let everyone see, and the man that I am—or, that I wish I was.

Preparing for my meeting with Elsa (for hopefully the last time), was harder than leaving Riley at the show house. It took everything in me to get in the car and drive away, instead of dragging Riley into that empty house and nailing her against the wall. Now that I’m sitting, idling, in the Pine Ridge parking lot, it’s taking more balls just to walk in that place and finalize the last chapter of my life.

Elsa will gloat. She’ll smile and grin, and give me as much grace as she would if her knee was thrusting up and into my crotch. I guess I deserve it. But, I can’t take all the blame.

Being married to an ice queen, a prim and proper, phony as hell woman took a lot out of me. I had to pretend to be at her beck and call. I’m one step up from a pool boy, for fuck’s sake. She wanted arm candy, a boy toy, and that’s exactly what she got. Until, of course, her young and agile trophy grew up.

She tired of me. And even though I slept with a good portion of Wyoming to spite her, they were all just faceless and temporary changes of scenery. I couldn’t make her jealous. I couldn’t make her want what she had outgrown—or better yet, what had outgrown her.

I swear she even knew about Sara before the shit hit the fan. I am almost positive she knew I would be instantly attracted to Riley too, and that’s why she played down and out, sending me to Cheyenne in her place. If your husband is unfaithful, especially with a younger and more beautiful woman, then by all means, divorce him.

This is Elsa Lawrence’s way of saving face. This is how she remains the victim, and I’m the asshole who couldn’t keep it in his pants. She dangled the carrots, and I greedily snatched them up. Not that I didn’t have a little fun on the way…but I didn’t expect it to all end so abruptly.

Taking Riley from Elsa will be the final twist of the knife in her side—metaphorically,
of course
. That bitch won’t see what’s coming. I just hope Riley doesn’t change her mind…

“West. So good of you to grace me with your presence. Late as usual. Did you stop for a romp on the way? Was there a broken down bus full of cheerleaders on the Interstate that you had to help before you got here?” Elsa glared at me through her stone-cold eyes, and tipped her golden head back in laughter.

Bitch
.

I crossed my arms on my chest and sighed at her. “Elsa. Darling…they weren’t cheerleaders.” I grin.

She purses her lips and sits down behind her desk. “Always a smart ass, West. Now, let’s get to business, shall we?”

“By all means.” I unbuttoned my jacket and sat down, opposite side of the desk from her and crossed one leg over the other.

“William went through all of our documents. Here is everything regarding the house,” she says, handing me a folder. “And this is the business. Sign where the tabs are.”

I flip open the folder, spreading out the numerous pieces of paper regarding the home we own and have shared for the past four years. She wants it. She wants everything.

I pick up a pen from her desk and scrawl my signature where there are yellow sticky arrows indicating that my mark is needed.

She can have it. The loveless home, the brokerage, the picket fucking fence. All of it.

“There. Now, where’s the part about what you’re giving me?”

Elsa chuckles. “Right here, baby. I can’t let you leave without throwing you one last bone. Sign and I’ll make the call to transfer funds.”

Super bitch
.

She’s paying me to leave…and it’s a pretty nice chunk of change. Not that I need it, I had money before I met the witch. Little does she know I’m going to use this money to ruin her and Pine Ridge Fucking Realty.

“Thank you, Elsa.” I sit back in the chair, put my hands behind my head and give her my best Weston Casey smile. The same one that used to make her orgasm on the spot.

She shakes her finger at me, and clicks her mouth in disapproval. “When you get to New York, be sure to look into a little Botox. Perhaps a slight tightening around the eyes. Thirty wasn’t very nice to you.”

Colossal bitch
.

“I could always book an appointment with your specialist.”

Elsa narrows her eyes, picks up the phone and dials a number. “Hello? Yes, this is Elsa Lawrence…”

I verified on the app on my iPad that the money was transferred, stood up, buttoned my jacket and turned on my heel to leave. When I open her office door, I’m faced with her next victim. This kid has got to be barely twenty. He’s leaning up against the wall, in a suit that she bought no less, grinning at me like a weasel.

“Make sure to double bag it, buddy. She’s been in my pants, and God only knows where I’ve been.” I wink at the kid, and walk out, trying my best not to turn to see Elsa’s face. Her audible gasp echoed down the hallway.

“Mr. Casey, have a good day, sir. It was nice working for you.” Rob stood up at his desk and waved when I walked past his office.

“Rob. See you.”

The sound of the door closing behind me made me smile. I got into the car and set my bag on the passenger seat. Pulling out my phone I’m almost tempted to call Riley. I just want to hear her voice. But she’ll probably just tell me off, and I really don’t have anything to say to her anyway. I’d rather the only sound coming out of her mouth be my name and lots of moaning.

With that thought, I turn on the ignition and check the mirrors before backing out of the parking lot. Where am I going to go now? I don’t want to go to the hotel. I could go eat somewhere. Damn, I need a drink.

***

My head throbbed when the sun shone into the hotel room, momentarily blinding me and making me consider ever drinking again. I grumbled and lifted my head off my pillow just to cover my face with it. Maybe I’ll suffocate myself. I feel the bed move, and I squeeze my eyes shut.

Shit
. I forgot about her.

I slowly lift up the pillow and look at the pile of blonde hair beside me on the bed. What was her name again? I don’t know, and I really don’t care at this moment. I brave the sun and sit up to drink a bottle of water that’s sitting on the night stand beside the bed. There, that feels about one percent better.

Ugh

“Well, good morning, handsome.”

I gulp down the last of the water and slowly turn my face to the woman in my bed. “Is it?”

I’m such a dick.

She doesn’t say anything else. When she sits up and faces away from me, I feel like I should apologize, or at least mutter more than two words.

“Sorry. I just have a headache.”

She turns back and smiles suggestively. “I know a good cure for that.”

“Does it involve your mouth? You should win an award for that thing.”

She nods and turns on her hands and knees, crawling over to me. I toss the empty water bottle on the floor, take her head in my hands and pull her into a kiss. With her hands on my thighs, she holds herself up and takes my assaulting kiss. When she pulls away, panting, she licks her bottom lip.

I pull back the sheet, and the blonde lowers her head. My eyes roll back into their sockets as she completely devours me and cures me of my hangover.

Three hours later and four orgasms between us, I lay back on the bed and she falls on top of me, her body heaving with mine. I push the hair off her face with my hand, and tilt up her face to look into her eyes. She’s one of the hottest ones I’ve had in a while.

“I feel like an ass, but I can’t remember your name,” I say, tracing her bottom lip with my thumb.

She smiles. “Do we need names?”

I shrug. “Well, I guess not.”

“What does your tattoo mean?” She asks, changing the subject.

“It means ‘
because I can
’.”

She perks her eyes up and giggles. “Suits you perfectly, Mr. Delicious. Because you certainly
can
.”

“Mr. Delicious?” I laugh. “That’s a first.”

“Well, yeah. You’re hot. And delicious.” She moves to sit, and my eyes trail up her naked body. “I should go.”

I pout. “Did you leave your car at the bar too? We could share a cab.”

“I didn’t leave my car there, but I am going back. The Wolfbarrow is my brother’s bar. I’m only here visiting.”

“You’re Jesse Wolf’s sister?” I ask, remembering meeting Jesse a few months after moving to Sheridan.

She nods and climbs off me. “I’m Gwen.”

***

Gwen Wolf and I parted ways with a quick smile and wave. I climbed into my BMW and before I got my seat belt fastened my cellphone buzzed.

I need to see you. Please. I miss you.
