“I give up. You’ll never change.” Taking Laura’s hand, they started back toward the cottage. “So,” Sandra started casually,

“when Dee comes over to play, does she bring her toys?”

Laura’s face turned scarlet, causing Sandra to burst into laughter. Laura grabbed the water hose and Sandra started running. She almost reached the door before the water hit her.

Later that evening, the four women sat on the porch surrounded by the sounds of crickets. Laura and Dee were in the swing; Cory and Sandra were in lawn chairs. Each couple told

their story of the past two months and discussed their dreams for the future. In the soft darkness, Cory reached out and took Sandra’s hand. At that moment, Sandra realized where her true wealth lay.
