"I love you, Myra. Please forgive me, for exposing you to danger, my dove, my all," she looked at him and in his eyes she saw his sincerity and passion.
 

And she smiled. Here he was — the emperor of Rome, at her feet, begging, crying, demanding her forgiveness.
Her
forgiveness — the forgiveness of a peasant girl from a small farm to the North of Rome! She so wanted to be angry with him, to not be in love… She bit her lip and nodded. She saw him, relax just a little.

Myra put her hand on his cheek and wiped away a tear.
Why, oh why did life have to be so complicated?
She bent forward until their foreheads met.

"I too have a secret to share," she said and saw puzzlement cross his features.

"I am pregnant… with your child, Master."
