“Is there anything else I need to help with?”

“Lord, that’s enough. I’d probably appreciate it if maybe occasionally you could watch the baby while I nap or have a relaxing bath.”

“That’s easy enough. I have to warn you, though. I’ve not been around children that much, so I’ll be learning right along with you.”

“Join the crowd,” Lacy said.

The men walked in, and Cam introduced Clint and Gray to their wife. Elissa was proud of them. They each walked over and shook her hand.

“We better be going now, Elissa. I’m sure Lacy needs to rest.” Gray took her hand and helped her out of the chair.

“It was great to meet you, Lacy. I’ll be back over in a few days to work in your garden.”

“Thanks, I really appreciate it.”

The guys ushered her out of the living room and back to the kitchen.

“We’ll be over in the morning to start work,” Gray was saying.

“We’re real glad to have you here. Is there anything at your house you need until we go to town again?” Cam asked.

“No. Elissa? Do you need anything?” Gray asked.

“No. Thanks, though. I think we are all stocked up. It was really nice of you to do that for us.”

“Wanted you to feel welcomed and have what you needed until you could get your own things,” Phillip said.

“See you tomorrow,” Clint said as they walked outside. “Thanks for the radios. I’ll feel better about leaving Elissa now.”

Elissa waited until they were out of the yard and on their way back across the field to ask about the radios.

“We have three of them. One for each of us,” Gray told her. “You can get in touch with us if you have a problem. We can call and check on you, or let you know if we’re going to be later than usual while we’re out in the fields.”

“That’s great. I was wondering how I could get in touch with you if something was wrong.” Elissa felt relief pour over her.

She wasn’t normally a worrier, and she rarely got scared. Living on a different planet with odd plants and animals bothered her, though. She knew to stay away from animals, but what happened if one attacked her? What was she supposed to do? The radio would go a long way to making her feel more secure.

When they were close to the house, Gray suddenly grabbed her and put her behind him.

“Stay still,” he said.

“What is it?”

“Shhh. It’s one of those dog things. I don’t want to spook it.”

Clint wrapped his arms around her from behind, and Gray blocked her sight from the front. She tried to slow her breathing down so she wouldn’t make so much noise, but she was scared. Several seconds passed before Gray walked forward a few steps. Then he turned around.

“Okay, it’s gone. Let’s get in the house in case it comes back. I don’t like that it got this close to the house.”

They hurried the rest of the way through the field and into the house. Gray wrapped an arm around her and kissed the top of her head.

“Thanks for listening to me and being still and quiet. It’s really important to follow my directions in cases like that.” Gray squeezed her.

“Don’t worry. I wasn’t about to do anything to draw attention to me.” Elissa shivered. “Do you think it will come back?”

“Hard to tell. It might be living in this area and we’ll see it every once in a while, or it may have been passing through. If you are outside and ever see one, freeze and wait for it to move on. Don’t run, no matter what. That will only draw attention to you, and it can outrun you.”

“I think we need to see about getting her a gun and teaching her to use it, Gray. I don’t like leaving her alone all day like this. Plus, she’ll be outside a good deal of the time.” Clint shoved his hands in his jeans pockets.

“That’s a good idea. We’ll have to get one when we go to town. All we have are the two rifles, and they go with us out in the field.”

“I have to go to Lacy’s every day soon to help with the baby and the garden. Are you going to walk me over there, or can I walk by myself?” Elissa figured that would raise some eyebrows. She was right. Both men started shaking their heads no.

“But that’s the reason we’re here. To help with the field, and to help Lacy. I have to help her.” Elissa settled her hands on her hips.

“Gray, she’s right. I don’t like it, though.”

“We keep a wide path cut through the field at all times and walk her over in the mornings. I guess she will have to walk back by herself.” He looked down at her. “Under no circumstances are you to ever walk back once it starts to get dark. Wait on either us or Phillip or Cam to walk you back.”

“Don’t worry. I don’t want to walk in the dark.” Elissa shivered. “I’m going to start lunch in a little while. Do you have anything in particular you want?”

“Naw, just whatever you fix will be fine,” Clint said.

Gray nodded in agreement. “We’re going to go record that sighting in our journal if you need us.”

“I’ll call you when it’s ready. It’s still a little while till noon.”

She watched the men disappear into the living room. Relief washed over her that they hadn’t thrown a fit about her going to Lacy’s. She had been worried they wouldn’t let her go by herself at all. Of course, after crossing paths with that dog thing, she wasn’t too happy about walking by herself now, either. Still, Lacy was depending on her help.

She took her time making their lunch since it was still early. Then she called them from the living room once it was ready. They ate quickly then returned to the office. Elissa cleaned up and decided to read awhile. She picked out a book on babies and curled up on the couch.

No matter how much she read, she didn’t think it was going to help all that much once the real thing was in her hands. She just hoped she was a fast, on-the-job learner.

“What are you reading?” Clint walked in and sat on the couch next to her. He pulled her feet into his lap.

“A Baby’s First Year,”
Elissa said and showed him the cover.

“Taking your job seriously, I see.”

“Well, I don’t know the first thing about them, and I’m going to be helping out once the baby is here. I need to know something before I touch him.”

“Don’t worry so much. It’ll come naturally, I’m sure.” Clint massaged her feet as he talked. “Besides, this will be great practice for when you get pregnant.”

“Let’s hope I don’t for a while yet. I need to be able to help Lacy get past the first few months. I’m pretty sure morning sickness and dirty diapers don’t mix well.” Elissa chuckled.

“Point taken.”

Gray walked into the living room next carrying a book with him. He leaned over and kissed Elissa on the head.

“Look at this.” He pointed to a grainy picture of a dog-looking animal.

“What is that?” she asked, frowning.

“This is that thing that was outside earlier. I want you to know what it looks like. The picture doesn’t show it, but the book says it has a set of razor-sharp teeth. More than a regular dog.”

“I’ll keep that in mind and try to steer clear of the thing.”

“I wish we had a better picture of it,” Clay said. “That one is almost out of focus.

“Don’t worry. Anything I see, I’ll be still and wait for it to move on. If it comes toward me, I won’t run. I’ll walk away from it.” Elissa repeated what they had been drilling into her that morning.

“Good girl,” Clint said.

“I don’t know about you guys, but I’m thinking a nap sounds good right about now.” Gray closed the book and dropped it on the coffee table.

“Sounds good to me.” Elissa had been yawning for the last few minutes.

“You guys go on up. I’m going to finish up in the office. I still need to finish my entry for yesterday.” Clint made a face.

“If you wouldn’t procrastinate, you’d be finished already,” Gray said with a laugh.

“I hate writing. That’s why I farm.”

“Come on, Elissa. We can get a head start on Clint.”

Elissa smirked. Gray had something else in mind other than a nap. She was sure of it.

She climbed the stairs behind Gray and admired his tight ass. He had just enough to squeeze. She almost pinched him but decided not to push her luck.

As soon as they were in the bedroom, he turned around and grabbed her. She laughed and fought him, trying to get away.

“Oh no you don’t. You’re not getting away from me.” He nuzzled her neck. “I have plans for you.”

“What kind of plans?” she asked.

“Dirty plans. Naughty plans.”

Elissa shivered. She could feel her pussy begin to quiver at the thought of what he had planned. She could feel his hard cock against her lower back. He knelt down some and rubbed it against her ass. She moaned.
God, that feels good.

“Let’s get your clothes off, baby. I can’t wait to sink my cock inside your hot cunt.” He slid his hands beneath her T-shirt and started pulling it over her head.

She raised her arms to help him. Then he reached around and unfastened her front-closure bra. He slowly peeled the cups off each breast. Then he rolled her nipples between his thumb and forefinger. Finally, he pulled the bra the rest of the way off and dropped it on the floor next to her T-shirt.

Gray massaged her breasts for a few seconds before moving to unfasten her jeans.

“Slip off your shoes, Elissa.”

She toed off her shoes as he began to pull down her jeans. When he reached her feet, she stepped out of them. She rested a hand on his head for balance. When she was totally nude, she ruffled his hair and slipped away from him to the other side of the room.

“I’ll get you before it’s over with. You might as well not run.” Gray began to unbutton his shirt.

Chapter Seven

She watched him strip and licked her lips. His cock sprang free of his jeans and stood out away from his body, a drop of pre-cum already forming in the slit. Her mouth watered at the sight of it.

When he was totally naked as well, he advanced on her. She backed up only to find the dresser at her back. She looked to the right where the bed was and made a mad dash to the left in hopes of outwitting him, and failed. He caught her before she made it to the bathroom, where she had planned to lock herself inside.

“See, you can’t get away from me. I have plans for you, baby.” Gray carried her as she halfheartedly fought to get free.

He threw her on the bed and fell on her, but didn’t let all his weight rest on her. His mouth found her neck where he licked, kissed, and nibbled along it until he reached her shoulder. Here he set his teeth just tight enough to still her. His hands began to explore her body, and she whimpered when he found her pussy.

“Fuck, you’re wet.” He ran a finger around her slit then sucked on it. “You taste so good, baby.”

Gray pulled back from her and stood at the foot of the bed watching her. His eyes were dark with desire and his mouth slightly open. When his nostrils flared, she knew he could smell her arousal.

“On your hands and knees, Elissa. I feel like a damn buck in rutting season, I’m so hard for you.”

Elissa lowered her lids and licked her lips before getting on all fours. She loved it when he took her this way. He rubbed over her hot spot with every thrust and bumped up against her cervix eliciting a wonderfully painful pleasure. She’d never known it existed until he did it the first time. Now she wanted it all the time.
