“Asshole! You said I was the best.”

“Only because I wanted to get into
your pants—until you turned around and showed me your small ass. And ever since
you’ve been sister-zoned.”

I shook my head, giving him a
smile.

His face turned serious. “And I’m
not joking about it not being the FBI. Honestly, do you truly believe they
could’ve spiked your food for all these years? Seriously, think about it.”

“I know it sounds out there, but
what other option could there be?”

“Traumatic experiences can wipe
memories.”

My mind went to what Christo and
the
Padre
had done to me seven years ago. I shook my head. “I remember
getting out of the river after I was attacked.”

“Do you remember anything else past
that?”

I frowned, bringing up the faces of
my foster parents. I remembered my foster father’s face after he’d saved me. He’d
looked in his late thirties. But the next time I saw him, while flying to
America, he’d aged, as though years had passed by in the blink of an eye. Had
something else happened to me after the
Padre
had tried to drown me?

“I have black holes in my memory,”
I finally said. “Anyway, enough talking, I’ve got a job to do
and
you’re
fucking with it. Why the hell are you here?”

“A source told us that the Donatelli
were going to show. I got orders to bring that cocksucker Matt in.”

“You don’t know how true that ‘cocksucker’
part is.”

Julio frowned. “What do you mean?”

I patted his arm. “You don’t need
to know, and right now, I have to get to the Donatelli hideout.” My eyes went
to the last Donatelli left standing. “And he’s my ticket there.”

Julio shook his head. “No way, Rita,
I was told if I found you to bring you straight in. Your time here is over.
You’re going back home.”

“As I said, this is my home.”

“No, it’s not, sis, New York is,
and that’s where you’re going.”

“Not until I’ve finished what the
Donatelli started,” I lied, having no intention of ever returning to America. “They
have my brother as well as Jagger D’Angelo’s one.”

“It’s none of our business what
happens to that mobster’s brother, and I thought you were an only child.”

“I’m not, and you’re not stopping
me from getting my brother back.”

I headed past Julio, aiming for the
Donatelli man.

Julio grabbed my arm and yanked me
around. “You don’t understand; this is an order.”

I pulled free. “No,
you
don’t understand. I told you I’m not who you think I am. My real name’s Sophia
Salvi.”

Julio shook his head. “You’re still
Rita to me, and you’re gonna be on the next flight to New York.”

“Not unless you knock me out, and
I’d like to see you try it without ending up on your ass.”

He shook his head again. “Arrogant
as ever.”

“More like I’m a better fighter
than you.”

“In your dreams, darling.”

“Try me on then, because it’s the
only way you’ll get me to leave without my brother. Which means you’ll either
help me or tell Dan I didn’t show.”

“I’ll be going against direct orders.”

“No, you won’t. Your orders are to
get me out safely along with capturing Matt, which you’ll be doing once we take
down the Donatelli.”

He frowned. “If you’re playing me
to help your douchebag husband,
I
will land you so hard on your small
ass.”

“I’m not. After what he did, I want
him to get fucked in jail like the bitch he is.”

Julio grinned. “Nothing like a
woman scorned.”

“Though, that bitch would probably
like the getting fucked part.”

“What do you mean?”

“He’s gay.”

Julio screwed up his face. “Nah,
you’re pulling my leg. My gaydar would’ve gone off.”

“Then it’s broken, because he’s
definitely gay. He was hot for Alberto D’Angelo.”

“That
Planet of the Apes
reject?”

“Yup, so shut it, we need to get
moving.” I kicked into gear, heading for the other FBI agents. I recognized a
couple of them. They all piped up with a hello. I nodded and pushed past them,
stopping in front of the injured Donatelli. His arm was bleeding, but not
badly, suggesting a bullet had only grazed it.

“I’m the one your Don wants
delivered,” I said to him. “So, you’ll direct me to his hideout, and along the
way, you’ll tell me what I need to know to take him down .”

“I can’t, Christo will skin me.”

I pulled out Camila’s knife. “And I
won’t?”

Looking frightened, the man stepped
away from me, pressing his back against the car. He didn’t come across as a
mafia thug; instead he looked more like a sleazy dealer or a pimp. He was a little
weed in his fifties with a potbelly that didn’t match his skinny frame.

“So, how about you be a good little
boy and do what I want,” I added.

He shook his head. “You’re the law,
you can’t hurt me.”

“No, I’m mafia, so I can do
whatever the hell I like, which includes skinning you.”

The soldier’s gaze moved to the
agents, then back at me. “You’re lying.”

“Yeah, you’re right, skinning will
take too long.” I glanced over my shoulder at Julio, who was standing behind me
with a grin. “Tell your men to hold Potbelly against the car and pull his pants
down. I’ll just cut his cock off instead.”

“Do it!’ Julio barked.

The agents moved forward, grabbing
a hold of the man. He yelled out as a third agent yanked his pants down.

“Close your eyes, agents,” Julio
said. “If you don’t see what Rita does, it did not happen.”

I grabbed Potbelly’s cock. He started
yelling louder, demanding I let go. I squeezed his cock, making him yelp.

I moved in closer, standing a
breath away from him. “When I touch a man’s cock, I should always know their
name. What’s yours?”

“Le-Leo Rosso. Please le-let go of
my
cazzo.

I loosened my grip. “Why is a Rosso
working for the Donatelli when you’re supposed to be allies with the Santini?”

“I don’t question my orders.”

“What if those orders endanger your
family?”

“They already have, but I don’t get
a say
.
It’s either do or die.”

“Even when it risks Alessandro
Santini’s life? Don D’Angelo got a call only a few hours ago, telling him the
Donatelli kidnapped his cousin. Now, why would your bosses help the Donatelli to
hurt the Santini?”

“I don’t know
merda
, and if
you don’t let me go, Alessandro will have no one looking out for him. Those
bastardi
knocked him out and tied him to a bed. I need to be there helping him, not
here answering your questions.”

“I want to do more than help him; I
want to free him, along with my brother and Thierry D’Angelo. Now, the question
is: will you help me do that?”

“Alessandro will be set free once
his ransom’s paid, and I can’t help you with Jagger’s brother, he’s been
claimed by the priest. I risk getting castrated if I go near Thierry.”

I placed the blade against his
balls. “And you don’t risk that now?”

He inhaled sharply. “Please be
reasonable, I can only do so much.”

“Then say something I want to
hear.”

“I can’t go near him, that’s all
I’m saying, but I can lead you to the hideout.”

“Good boy,” I said, letting go of
his cock. “So, here’s the deal: After you direct us there, I will go in with a
few of my colleagues, while the rest will watch you. If we make it out alive, you’ll
be set free, since I have no problems with the Rossos. However, you better
leave this island, because I’ll be telling Frano D’Angelo you helped the
Donatelli.
Capito?

S
ì
, and again, I didn’t help the Donatelli by
choice. If anything, I hope you kill the
bastardi
, especially the
Padre.
Make him suffer the most.”

“Why him?”

“He hurt one of Alessandro’s
brothers, along with Jagger D’Angelo. And that vile
bastardo
is doing
the same thing to Thierry now. Not only that, he raped Matteo Donatelli. He
needs to be stopped.”

I froze. “He raped Matt?”

S
ì
. A Donatelli soldier told me that the
Padre
bashed
Matteo’s head against the floor so he could rape him.”

My mouth dropped open, Julio’s swearing
behind me confirming he was just as shocked.

“Is Matt all right?” I asked. I
might have hated him for what he’d done to me, but ... God, I didn’t want that
to happen to him—not in any shape or form.

Leo continued, “Maybe physically,
but definitely not mentally. Matteo constantly taunts the priest, bruising for
a fight. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve killed each other by the time we
get there. In my opinion, those two are the ones destroying the Donatelli, not
the Santini or the D’Angelos.”

I nodded, my mind now turning over,
all my thoughts on Matt. I couldn’t help but feel sad over what had been done to
him. I knew what rape felt like, and with the exception of the
Padre
and
Christo, I didn’t wish it upon anyone. I breathed out, wondering whether Matt
would help me after this. I knew it was a long shot, but it was something I
could keep in mind.

“Let him go,” I said to the FBI
agents.

The men stepped away from Leo, who
grabbed his pants, yanking them up.

I glanced at the dead men on the
ground. “I hope those were Donatelli and not Rossos.”

“They are; they didn’t trust me to
be alone.”

“For good reason, because it’s damn
lucky my friends shot the right men, but then again, I could’ve made them do
what I wanted.” I lifted the knife up. “Anyway, let’s head out. Get in the
front passenger seat. You’ll direct one of Julio’s men. I’ll get in the back,
while Julio will be behind you with a gun just in case you decide you like the
Donatelli more than me.”

He smiled. “I like you more. Just the
next time you touch my cock: don’t put a knife near it.”

I laughed. “You have a good sense
of humor. Maybe you do have balls, after all.”

“I know which side is the winning
one, and I go where that is. I have no allegiance with the Donatelli, only my
famiglia
.”

“Good. Now, let’s go.”

Leo jumped into the front passenger
seat, while Julio got in the back with me, barking out orders for his men to
follow. Another agent got behind the wheel, waiting as his colleagues ran
across the parking lot. Less than a minute later, two cars emerged from the
darkness. Our driver fired up the engine and headed around the mall, the others
shadowing us.

Thirty minutes later, Leo
instructed the driver to pull over to the side of the road. He pointed to a
driveway. “You’ll find them down there. Just head through the trees on foot.”

I peered between the seats at him.
“If you’re lying, I’ll come back and give you the priest special,” I said,
waving the knife.

“I’m not.”

“Just saying, if you need to change
your story, do it now.”

“Everything I’ve told you is true.
Now, go save Alessandro, and make sure he knows I’m helping. I hated him
thinking I betrayed him.”

“Okay.” My eyes moved to Julio. “Who’s
coming with me?”

“I will, along with a few from the other
cars.”

“Good, and I need a gun.”

Julio passed me one, then pushed
out of the car. I followed, my nerves starting to amp up at the thought of
seeing Christo Donatelli.

Julio poked his head into the car
behind us, telling them who he wanted with him. The men jumped out of the car.
Julio moved to the next one, doing the same. More men got out, ready to bring
the Donatelli down.

The agents surrounded Julio,
listening intently as he gave them their orders. I waited for him to finish,
then started talking, “Let me kill Christo Donatelli—”

Julio cut me off, “I’d rather bring
him in.”

“What happened to your sister is
what he did to me,” I said, not wanting the others to know I’d been raped.

Julio went still, then his whole
body tensed, his anger barely contained. “You can have him, and make the
bastard suffer.”

“I will, and thank you, I
appreciate this.”

“You don’t have to thank me, just
do what needs to be done.”

I nodded, the reality of vengeance
so damn close I could almost taste it.

He placed a hand on my back. “You ready
to move out now?” he asked, his tone softening.

“Just one more thing: I want to
deliver the priest to the D’Angelos. They will make him pay for everything he’s
done.”
