Helen Edwards
trained as a nurse, and worked in the NHS for several years, mainly in operating theatres. She then became a district nurse, before moving to Australia where she worked in operating theatres, casualty and a coronary care unit. On her return to the UK she was employed at the Nuffield Hospital in Newcastle, followed by a position in occupational health nursing. Forced to retire due to back problems, she qualified as a hypnotherapist and psychotherapist. She is married to Dennis Edwards and lives in Northumberland.

Jenny Lee Smith
is perhaps best known for winning the very first Women’s British Open Golf Championship in 1976. Internationally, she played for England in the 1975 European Team Championships, was a member of the British Curtis Cup team in 1974 and 1976, and played for Great Britain and Ireland in the Espirito Santo Trophy in 1976. She turned professional in 1977 and gained her player’s card to compete on the American Ladies Professional Golf Association tour that year. In 1979 Jenny was a founder member of the European Women’s Professional Golf Association going on to win twelve tour events. She was the highest-earning woman golfer on the European tour in 1981 and 1982 and was awarded the Order of Merit each time. Jenny now lives in Kent with her husband Sam Lucas, daughter Katie and sons Ben and Josh.
