In Too Deep by Genesis

I pull up to the spot where Ever's car is broken down. If she didn't have such a piece of shit Ford Mustang, she probably wouldn't have so many problems with the damn thing. I lost track in the two years we were together on how many times I had to have Bear look at it and fix it for her. She looks up at me and I see confusion mixed with appreciation in her eyes as she signs,
What are you doing here?

You need a ride or not?
I question back, avoiding hers.

Yeah, but I need someone to look at my car.

It's already done. Chasyr and Bear are already on their way to get it. It will be at the clubhouse later for you to pick up.

She grabs her purse and locks the doors, slipping the key onto the top of the driver's side front tire. I stick out a helmet for her to take. After she gets it on, she climbs on the back of my bike, holding onto me just like she used to. I forgot how damn good it felt having her wrapped around me. I decide to just ride because I'm not ready to let this feeling go. Fuck, I've missed it so goddamn much.

I end up pulling into the park we used to go to that has a little pond where ducks sit in the water. She used to love coming here to feed them.

We get off my bike and walk to the big rocks to sit down that aren't too far from the water. They are so big that both of us fit on one as we look out at the water and watch the ducks swim and bathe themselves. She turns to me, sitting cross legged, and I know she wants to talk, so I turn my head towards her.

How did you know where I was?
Confusion, laced with happiness is what I see when I look into those beautiful blues.

Truth?
I ask as she nods her head with a smirk.
I've had Chasyr watching you since the first night we talked.

Why?

Because I love you and I always want to make sure you are safe.

She gives me a slow grin before saying,
I might have been upset with you for that yesterday, but today, I am grateful. Thank you for picking me up when I needed it.

You're welcome. Just because we aren't together anymore doesn't mean I don't care about what happens to you.

I know. Do you think we will ever get back together, Writer?
She drops her head because that beautiful rosy pink is taking over her face.

I place my hand on her chin, bringing her head back up, then tell her,
Honestly, I don't know what's going to happen, Sugar. I will tell you this, if it happens, I’m playing for keeps this time. You won't just run off to God knows where because you think you will have a better life. I won't let you go a second time.

I'm not leaving again.

She makes it seem so easy, but it's not.

You say that now, but you need to make me believe it. You also need to think long and hard about if this is what you want for the long haul. Because I'll tell you right now Baby, if I let you in again, you will be wearing my property patch, and that's a forever thing.

Weren't we always a forever thing?
she questions.

I thought so at one point, then you left, and now, I'm not sure of anything.

You make it seem like I was unsure of you and that was never it. My doubts were never with you, Writer. I wanted you to come with me.
Ever blinks her tears away rapidly before they can fall.

And you knew I couldn't leave, but you chose to go anyway. If I would have went, what would you have expected I become, a suit? That I would have just started selling my art and becoming a millionaire? That's not me, Ever, it never has been and it never will be.

I did leave, and no that isn't what I expected! Jesus, I just wanted you there with me. I had to find out what was out there for me. I will never be sorry I went, but I regret leaving you.

What have you been doing at all those buildings anyway? Why were you by Jacey's recording studio?
I want to get off the subject, so I try to change it.

I'll tell you all in good time, just know I will prove what I need to to get you back.

You have me curious woman,
we both smile, then I add,
We gotta get back, I got church.

We walk back to my bike, get on, and head back to the clubhouse. I get to feel her for just a little bit longer.

★★★

I'm sitting in the chapel room with all of my brothers as Hanger starts church.

“Brothers, there are a few things we need to discuss. First, I have been meeting with the owner of Runaway Tattoo. She has agreed to the terms and we will be doing business with her. Demon, I need you to get twenty-five percent of our money and get it to her. Make it look legit, like we bought into her shop. Hunter, since you are in good with her, I need you on it with him.”

I see both of them nod before he continues,
“Hacker, how is it coming with your titty club?”

I got the building and construction starts next week.
Hanger relays what Hacker is saying for me.

“Good. Now I got a call this morning from Brent Jenkins. For those of you who don't know who he is, he's the sheriff. I got him on payroll so he wanted to give me a heads up that they have been receiving some calls on us.”

I can see all of my brothers getting worked up, mouths moving and arms flying. Who the fuck would be making calls on us? I see Bear ask that exact question and I turn my attention back to Hanger.

“Guys, shut the fuck up! I don't know why they are getting calls or who is doing it. He said they are coming in anonymously and that he has held off as much as he can, but they have to come check shit out tomorrow. We need this place cleaned out! I want all personal stashes gone, guns gone, and I want every bit of unaccounted money gone. Everything can be taken and spread out amongst the storage units. Ghost and Chasyr, I want you guys on this. When everything has been collected, and I mean every-fuckin'-thing, I want Bam Bam and Pretty Boy with you guys. Two of you take half, as well as the other two, break it up and disperse it into four different storage units.”

He takes a break, looking around the room, everyone is nodding again as he goes on.
“Hacker, I need you on finding out who is fuckin' with us. Demon and Hunter, get that money to her tonight. Anybody else got anything to say?”

I lift my arm in the air, getting his attention.
I got something to say, well more like ask.

He gives me his approval.
The floor is yours, Writer.

I take a deep breath and look around the room at all of my brothers.

I wanna know why none of you fuckers are mad at her for leaving me. I wanna know why Ever can walk her pretty little ass back in here and you all just expect me to get over the last year and take her back.

I watch as they all look at each other before Doc takes over. Hanger signs as Doc speaks.
We can't be mad at her, Writer. Some of us, more than others, know how much it sucks for you that she left. The thing you are forgetting, brother, is that she had a dream when she met you. If you love, and I mean truly loved her, you would never ask her to give up her dreams for you. You would encourage her to follow them. Take a look at Crazy Girl and Lil Mama for a second. Crazy Girl didn't have a dream. She thought she was going to settle down, marry that abusive cunt, and have some kids. Hanger made a dream come true she never even thought she could get. She got love...true fucking love.

I look around the room at shocked expressions and agreement before he goes on.
Now Lil Mama, she was a bitch and put Bear through the ringer. No disrespect Bear. But it's true, she was so fuckin' unhappy, but he stood next to her while her dreams came true. You, brother, didn't get the chance because you decided to break up with her out of anger. Granted, you tried to fix it, but you were too late. Look at the kind of life we lead, Writer. We kill, we get revenge, we do illegal shit, and we are outlaws. But most of all we protect the ones we love. It takes one hell of a woman to be able to deal with our shit and live in this world with us. If she wanted out, you can't fault her for that, and neither can we. City, as some of us call her now, is part of this family so we will support her in whatever she does, that's what family is for.

He goes on to answer the last question.
Why we think you need to forget and take her back is simple: she came back. She tried it her way, it didn't work, and now she is back for you and you both love each other. Don't let that go, because if you do, you will never find it again.
Doc doesn't usually say much, but fuck if he didn't just school me.

Hanger then says,
“With that, does anyone have anything else?”

No one makes a motion.

“Good. Church is over, get the fuck outta here.”

★★★

Later that night, we got a party in full swing. Ever left awhile ago and I'm on edge. I sat back, watching her dancing with Crazy Girl and Lil Mama. The girl has fuckin' moves outta this world. Some people don't know, but when you are hearing impaired, even though you can't hear the music, you can feel the vibrations if it is loud enough, and in this clubhouse, it sure in the fuck is loud enough.

Now my cock's so hard I could slice through glass. I sulk in the corner, watching around the room, seeing some of my brothers smashing whores or getting their dicks sucked.

Fuck, I need a release! I haven't done shit with a woman since Ever came back. What could it hurt? We ain't together. I pop some pills in my mouth and down the last of my Jack and Coke before standing and spotting a cute little blonde standing in the corner. I stumble over to her because I'm so fucked outta my mind from all the alcohol and the shit I did earlier. She gives me a sexy smile as I hold my hand out to her, and without hesitation, she takes it. I can tell she is the type of girl that doesn't give a fuck and is up for anything.

No one is here to try and stop me, so I lead her over to the couch, where I sit down and then she straddles my lap. She leans in to kiss me, but I move my head just in time for her to hit my cheek. I close my eyes for a second and see Ever's beautiful face. I quickly open them to see the girl trying to get my jeans undone. I lift my hips to help her out, I'm trying to stay in the moment, but my eyes betray me as they close again. Ever smiles behind my closed lids. I open them again and try shaking it off.

I look down to see the chick has my cock in her hand about to put me in her mouth. I gotta stop her, I can't do this. I push her back on her heels, shove my shit back in my jeans, and storm to my room.

What the fuck was I thinking?

Ever is back. What would make me think I could do anything with another woman when mine is fighting for me? Stripping out of all my clothes except for my boxer briefs, I lay in my bed, tracing the tattoo that is on my hip. For the first time in a year, I accept the images of my beautiful girl.

★★★

Let me have it, Writer,
Ever says as she jumps up and down on my bed. I hold her present out in front of her, taunting her with it. Ever tried to chase me around the small room for a second until she decided it would be easier to just stay on the bed.

There she goes, sticking out her lip in a pout and folding her arms across her chest. She's too fuckin' cute! I sit it down beside me.
How bad do you want it?

Oh, I want it bad.
Ever gives me a sexy smirk and I return it with my own. I catch her off guard, tackling her to the bed with me on top. Her lips part right before I lean in, nibbling on the lobe of her ear. I move over to her neck, giving small little kisses up onto her jaw until I finally meet her lips. Our tongues tangle together in a duel for control as her legs spread farther open and her hands find my hair. Finishing off the kiss, I lean back. Her eyes are hooded and full of lust.
