"Clinton!? Did you seriously just leave me to get these children into the car all by myself? These are
your
friends! The least you could do was be helpful since you insisted we come here, today.  Ugh!"

Clinton winced at Melissa, “Nice seeing you again, M!” and chased after his wife as she blew right past them without missing a beat.  Melissa laughed as she watched Clinton shouting after his enraged bride.  She spent a few minutes catching up with old friends, then got into her rental car to head to the reception.

When she arrived, she was informed that she'd be sitting at a special table with old friends.
Great. They'll be digging into my personal business the entire time. Shit.

She followed the usher to her table and she could feel the eyes crawling all over her. Eyes filled with lust, envy and hate.  She smiled inside. She might not have been there with a date, but she was every man's desire and every woman’s disdain in the massive reception hall.  She added an extra twist to her hips to stir up some trouble as she sashayed to her seat.  She moved like a gazelle, lean, confident and certain.

"Here you are, ma'am," the young man stated as they arrived to Melissa's table.

"Hey girl!" two of her old high school friends shouted.  She was happy to see them.

"Hi!" she responded as they hugged and greeted one another, then immediately started getting caught up.  Each accepted a glass of champagne offered by one of the servers.

"How
ARE
you!?" her friend Lucy asked.
Let the interrogation commence.

"I'm great! Just busy, busy, busy with work. Barely any time for a personal life."
Like, I haven't had sex in so long, I may as well hang a Closed for Business sign on my vagina, but who's asking? “
But, good otherwise."

They all looked at her questioningly. Their judgment hovering over the table like a storm cloud.

"What!? You look great! You should have them beating down your door!"

Melissa laughed, "I wish. I usually meet guys I wouldn't go out with for all of the Manolo Blahniks in Italy or who have two kids and a wife back at home thinking they're out being dutiful husbands. I am in the drought of all droughts."

"Drought?" Her friend Becky chimed in. "As in, a
sexua
l drought?" She whispered the question as if she was asking for confirmation that Melissa had a raging syphilis infection.

She hated how casually people asked her the most personal questions.
Did she really just ask me if I was having sex in this crowded room?

"The worst." Melissa responded.   The glass of bubbly she'd chugged, on a nearly empty stomach, made her lips looser than the coochie of a 45-year-old career streetwalker.

"Wow! I don't know how you do it.  You just be some kind of saint or…something supernatural," Becky responded.
What a cunt.
"I'd be ready to jump the bones of almost any man here if I went too long without sex."

Lucy shuffled in her seat, uncomfortable with Becky's insensitive comments.  She was recently divorced so she knew how hard the dating scene was.  Then, it hit her.

"Hey! I have somebody you should meet! He's a co-worker and I think you guys would make a GREAT couple!"

She seemed so excited about the prospect of the two meeting, she was giddy. But, there was one problem. Melissa hated being setup. She'd had her fair share of bad setup experiences and she vowed to never do it again.

She waved her hands in the air to stop Lucy from going any further.

"Stop! Wait. Hold up. I do
not
do setups, anymore. I have had the
worst
experiences and I just can't do it to myself, again!”

"Oh, come on! Just
one
more! I really think this could work! What do you have to lose?!"

Melissa knew Lucy was right. How was she going to meet the right guy if she turned down an offer like this? Sure, it might turn out badly, but at least she'd given it a try.   She asked Lucy a few more questions about the guy.

"What's he like? Tell me something about this 'great catch'?"

Lucy giggled she was so excited.

"Okay, so he's in the Marines and he's a pilot..."

Did she just say pilot?

"...and, he's very handsome and very tall. He’s a real sweetheart and I KNOW he would love you. He's divorced, but…"

Oh, there it is. He's divorced. Probably also a real asshole.

"…he doesn't have any kids and I think he wants to get married again, BUT just have a conversation with him and see where things go! I
really
think you guys would hit it off."

Melissa listened intently as Lucy did her best to sell her on meeting her friend.  The fact that he was divorced bothered her, but curiosity was slowly snuffing those concerns out.
A pilot. I can't
not
meet a tall, handsome, childless pilot.

She decided it was time to leave the safety of home base.

"What's his name?"

"Colby. Can I tell him it's okay to call you? Please, say yes!"

Melissa laughed, "Yes, you can tell him to call me. If he turns out to be a jerk, I'm never speaking to you again," she joked.

"Hurray! You're going to
love
him!"

"Hey! Even if you don't love him, maybe you can at
least
end the drought!" Becky added.

They all chuckled uneasily at Becky's inappropriate joke as the reception kicked off in earnest. It was a beautiful event and she was glad she had come. She saw scores of people she hadn't seen in over a decade and she had much more fun than she ever imagined.

But, while everybody else was focused solely on the reception and the bride and groom, her mind was abuzz. Becky was right, however crass. Maybe Colby was just the man to get her juices going again. Juices that hadn't flowed freely in far too long.

Your
move, Colby.

The Call

Melissa traveled back to D.C. and resumed her normal routine. Work, gym, home…wake up the next day and repeat. Until the weekend when she vegged out all day, exhausted after sacrificing herself at her job all week. It was a horrible pattern. One that she knew was keeping her out of contention for a suitable mate. She had initially told her friend Lucy she wasn’t interested in being setup, but nearly a week since the wedding, she was a little pissed that she hadn’t heard from Colby. She hadn’t even mentioned the prospect to her best friend, sparing her the disappointment if things didn’t pan out. But, she was so pissed, she needed to vent.

She flipped her television on, then decided she’d take a hot bath to relax herself. She’d call Felicity when she was done. She took her bath and it didn’t calm her down one bit. In fact, she was angrier than she’d been when she first stepped into the hot, soapy water.
Who does that guy think he is? I don’t care if he’s a fucking astronaut, he should have called me by now. I’m nothing to sneeze at, either! This is why I don’t bother….

Her mind raced with one furious thought after another. She was so angry, she decided she didn’t want to speak to Colby Roberts, ever.
He’s already playing games and I just don’t have the time or patience to deal with this kind of bullshit.

She slathered moisturizer on from head to toe, filled her essential oil diffuser with lavender and eucalyptus, then reached for her cell phone so the venting session could begin. This one would be epic because she didn’t want to be hooked up to begin with, only for the jerk to take his sweet time calling her. Before she could even get her hands around the phone, it rang. She didn’t recognize the number and her heart began to race.
Could it be?
Her hands shook and the heartbeat in her nether region began to pump feverishly. She shifted her ass to ease the noise in her ears caused by her throbbing pussy.

“Hello?” She tried to sound cool and calm, but she knew she wasn’t on her A game. She had to compose herself if it was in fact Mr. Make a Chick Wait Nearly a Week to Hear From Him, Colby Roberts.

“May I speak to Melissa?” The voice on the other end was deep, smoky and unfamiliar.
And, it certainly wasn’t a telemarketer. No telemarketer had ever made her nipples hard.
Her traitorous body instantly responded favorably to Colby’s voice.
I don’t even know this guy! How dare my tits betray me this way!

“This is Melissa,” she responded, her own voice, now, more relaxed and controlled. Her mind was racing.

“It’s good to finally speak to you. This is Colby. Lucy’s co-worker…”
Did he really say it was good to finally speak to me as if I was the reason we hadn’t spoken until now?

Melissa pushed the anger back down her esophagus and forced her heartbeat to slow. Both the one in her chest and the one between her legs. It had been so long since she’d been touched by a man, her mind was racing with possibilities. He might be an asshole, but he might be just the man to release her from the drought that had left her pussy dry and quivering it was so hungry for a good plunging from a hard cock.

“Hi! Nice to speak to you, too! Lucy had nothing but good things to say about you!” She decided to go the overly-exuberant route. You usually couldn’t go wrong, there. Better overly-excited than seemingly uninterested if your goal was to conceal your true feelings.

He chuckled, soundly ever so slightly arrogant. “I hope so. She said great things about you as well.” The deep bass in his voice flowed into her ear canal, rushed down her throat like a cool, spring breeze and kept going until it grazed across her plump with lust clitoris.
Get it together, Melissa. You’re acting like a horny teen-aged girl.

They both sat quietly for a moment, their egos in the heat of battle. Neither wanting to seem too eager. She finally caved, deciding that she wasn’t in the position to take the tough chick role too far. She hadn’t seen him yet, but he
was
a great catch. At least on paper. A face to face meeting would truly reveal his character, but she had no idea when that might happen. If he was Lucy’s co-worker, that meant he lived in California and she was in D.C. He might as well have lived in China he was so far way. How could that help her end her far too long sexual drought?

“She absolutely
insisted
that we meet,” she laughed in response.

“Well, that’s why I’m calling…aside from the fact that I wanted to introduce myself…I’m going to be in D.C. tomorrow for a meeting, but it should be brief. Then, I’ll have the rest of the day to myself. Would you be free for dinner tomorrow night?”

What the hell?! Dinner tomorrow night?!
Melissa’s heart rate shot through the roof. She hadn’t been on a bona fide date in well over two years. He couldn’t just spring this on her at the 11th hour. She needed time to get a fresh manicure and pedicure, time to find something heart stopping to wear, the right accessories. No, this was all wrong and she was furious, but she knew she had to remain calm. Be rational. Even if he was a jerk, he was most likely a tall, yummy glass of water and her pussy was long overdue for a drink. In just 24 hours, she could find herself face down and ass up, receiving a good thrashing.

“Sure! I’d love that,” she responded. Her mind was focused more on a hot cock than a hot dish.

“Great. I’m about to get on a flight to head that way, so I’m gonna need to get off, but I’m sure we’ll have a lot to discuss tomorrow night,” he responded.

“Yes! I’m looking forward to it.”

“Same here. I’ll call you tomorrow around midday, just to make sure nothing’s come up, then I’ll see you tomorrow evening. See why Lucy insisted I had to meet this smart and sexy friend of hers.” His voice was gruff and filled with curiosity.

Melissa’s nipples were rock hard. He was baiting her and she knew it.
She wanted it.
She cleared her throat as her mind raced, desperately trying to decide how she should respond.

She laughed, “Lucy’s so funny.” Then, she switched into the role of a woman who hadn’t been fucked in over two years. Letting him know she wasn’t some shrinking violet, unable to meet a challenge — especially in the sack. She lowered her voice a few octaves, pushing it to the ‘make his cock tingle’ zone. “But, if you’ve known Lucy long enough, I think you can attest to the fact that she’s not a liar.” She swallowed hard, wondering if she’d pushed it too far. Wondering if she had bitten off more than she could chew.
Who am I kidding? I’m Melissa fucking Franks! He’d better recognize who he’s speaking with!

“She also mentioned feisty and she was certainly right about that,” he laughed. “So, I’m going to trust that she was right about the rest of it, Ms. Franks. Looking forward to sitting across from you, tomorrow night,” he finished, eager to see what she came back with, next.

“Looking forward to sitting across from you, too, Mr. Roberts.”

Then, with a soft chuckle, he responded, “Have a good night.” And, he was gone.

Melissa collapsed onto her sofa, spreading her body the length of the chair, as she screamed into a pillow.
