“But it’s not a fucking handout.”

“No, you’re right it’s not.  It’s you trying to give her you guys’ house.  Can you s
ee why she wouldn’t want to own that house?”

“Fine, then we’ll sell the damn thing.”

“Or you could fix things and move into it,” Brody suggests.

“Fix what?”

“You and Haley.”

“Fuck, you sound like Kenzie right now.
When the hell did you two become fucking cheerleaders?  You two never wanted us together, now you’re both trying to fix us, you can’t, there’s nothing to fix.”

“Are you sure about that?”

“Yes, she made her choice.  I moved on, I’m happy,” I practically shout.

“She asked for a break asshole, you made the choice to leave, not her.”

“She knew the choices and she did what she had to and so did I.”

“Are you happy with your choice?”

“I am,” I say quickly.

“So you aren’t in love with Haley anymore?” he asks calling me out.

“No, I’m not,” I lie.  Of course I still love her, but she made her choice.

“I don’t believe you,” he says.

“I don’t care what you believe, it’s the truth.  I’ve moved on, she needs to do the same.  If she wants to sell the house, we will sell the stupid house, I honestly don’t care,” I snap.

“You can sell the stupid house.  I’ll be out by
the end of the week,” Haley says out of nowhere.

“Shit.
Hails you can stay in it as long as you want,” I say trying to recover what she’s heard.

“I don’t want anything that has to do with you.  I’m leaving tomorrow to go pack, I’ll be out within the next few days and you can put it up for sale,” she says before running out of the room.

“Fuck,” I shout pulling on my hair, angry at myself.

“Fix it dude,” Brody says like it’s nothing.

“Fix what?”

“You’re not over her.”

“How the fuck would you know?”

“Because even though you aren’t with her
, you’re still trying to take care of her, you still look at her with that stupid look in your eyes.”

“What look?
” I ask pissed off.

“That you fucking love her.  Now go fix this
, so we can all move on with our lives.”

“There’s nothing to fix,” I say before walking out of the room.  I need some fresh air.

Haley

“Stupid fucking asshole,” I mumble as I throw clothes in my bag.

“What are you doing?” Kenzie asks as she sits on my bed.

“I’m leaving,” I yell as I throw more clothes in my bag.

“Why? To go where?”

“Michigan.”

“What?  Why?” she asks confused.

“Liam’s an asshole.  I need to go move out of the house.”

“He’s kicking you out?” she practically screams.

“No, he’s not kicking me out, but I want nothing to do with him
, so I told him I would be out by the end of the week, so he can put the house up for sale.”

“Why would you do that?”

“Because it’s time.”

Hails, he’ll come around,” she says sounding hopeful.

“No
, he won’t.  I overheard him with Brody; he doesn’t have those feelings for me anymore.  He moved on and told Brody I need to do the same.  Then he went to call our house stupid, so I told him to sell the stupid house,” I say as the first tear falls.

“You love that house.”

“I used to love the man that was to live in it with me too, but shit doesn’t always work out the way we want it to,” I say, as I wipe the few fallen tears.

“I’m sure he’ll let you stay in it for however long you want.”

“I don’t want to,” I snap, “I’d rather live in a cardboard box,” I state, as I finish throwing clothes in my bag.

“You can’t drive that far being pissed off
Hails.” Kenz says worriedly.

“I’ll be fine.  I’m thankful I left my car here.”

“It’s getting late out, why not wait until morning to drive?”

“Because I need to start packing, I need out.  This way
, if I drive through the night I’ll have more time to pack tomorrow,” I say as I zip up my bag. “Kenzie I love you, and I’ll call you when I get there.”

“I love you too, please be careful,” she says as I head toward the stairs.  I tell my parents a quick fib as to why I’m leaving and hug them goodbye before ru
shing to my car to throw my bag in.

I pull out of the driveway and see
Brody talking to Liam and his girlfriend; I don’t bother to wave.  Instead, I continue on my way to get the hell out of here as fast as I can.

Chapter Three

Driving ten hours by myself during the middle of the night is not fun.  There’s no traffic, but it sucks.  My phone’s been ringing off the hook since I sent Quinn a text message filling her in.  She’s going to be leaving tomorrow to head back to help me pack.  Brody and Liam have been blowing up my phone.  So has Kenzie, to apologize for the guys pulling it out of her as to where I went.  Deciding, I’ve had enough I turn my phone off and continue on the long ass drive.

By the time I pull into the driveway
, it’s going on 6:30 a.m.  I’m exhausted, but you wouldn’t be able to tell considering the amount of caffeine I’ve had during the drive here.  I grab my bags and head inside, deciding I’ll start with my bedroom first.  I grab some trash bags and head up to my room. Going into the closet, I pull item after item off the hangers throwing them into the bag.

After about an hour
, everything is in bags from my closet.  Another hour goes by and my room is pretty much all in garbage bags.  Heading into the bathroom to do the same thing, I run into Liam in the hallway. I look up at him, startled.

“What the hell are you doing?” Liam asks
, looking all sorts of pissed off.

“What are you doing here?”

“Making sure you made it here alive.  Now, what the hell are you doing?” he asks as he pierces me with cold blue eyes.

“I’m packing,” I say as I turn around ignoring him.

“You are the most stubborn ass woman I’ve ever met,” he shouts.

“As you can see I’m fine, so you can leave now.”

“Why wouldn’t you answer when I called?”

“Same reasons you never answered my calls Liam,” I seethe, angry that he’s here right now.

“I was pissed at you.”

“Well the feeling
is mutual,” I say with a glare.

“We need to talk,” he says in a calmer voice.

“I heard everything I needed to hear.  We don’t need to talk anymore,” I say, as I turn to continue packing.

“Damn it
, woman,” he says as he walks over to me, picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder.

“Put me down,” I yell, trying to kick free while punching at his back.  It doesn’t take long for him to throw me down on the bed, “Oomph.”

“We are going to talk whether you like it or not,” he says, piercing me with those sexy blue eyes.  Damn him.

“About what?”
I ask heatedly.

“You don’t have to move out, you
know that.  This is your house,” he says much calmer now.

“I don’t want it.”

“Fine, how about you live in it until you graduate, and then we’ll figure things out from there,” he says looking hopeful.

“No.”

“Why not?” he asks flustered.

“I don’t want to live here.”

“You’ve been living here Hails, why is it any different now?”

“Because you tried to give it to me.”

“Fine, I won’t give it to you.”

“You’re damn straight you won’t,” I fire back.

“Fine, how about you live in it until your next semester is over?” he asks trying to be reasonable.

“Why?”

“Hails, where the hell are you going to go?  You can’t move into the sorority house at this time, there’s no bedrooms and good luck finding an apartment at this time of the year.”

“Fuck,” I say
, feeling stupid because he’s right.

“Plus, you don’t live alone.  You leave
, that’s going to make Quinn think she needs to leave too and then you are both stuck with nowhere to go.”

“I hate you sometim
es,” I seethe.

“I know,” he says with a sexy smirk, “Text Quinn and let her know she doesn’t have to race back
here to pack.”

“How do you know
that I sent her a text?”

“I know you.”

“Why are you here?”

“I told you why.”

“No, you could have called.”

“I did
call, someone wouldn’t answer her fucking phone.”

“I didn’t want to talk to you.”

“Yet here we are talking,” he says with a smile, “You should probably get some sleep Hails.”

“Yeah
, you too,” I say as I text Quinn to let her know she doesn’t have to come back, we aren’t moving.  “Hey,” I say as I turn to Liam who is lying down on my bed fast asleep.  “Well shit,” I say as I get up to put the blinds down to make it dark in my room before going and shutting the door.  I crawl into bed under my covers and fall fast asleep.

Sometime in the middle of my sleep
, I feel strong arms wrap around me and I can’t help but snuggle back wanting to get closer. “Mmmm,” I hear as fingers move to the waistband of my pants before entering into my panties, rubbing at my core.

I turn
slowly catching his lips wanting more; I explore his mouth as he explores mine, while trying to shed clothing.  Once his cock is free I grip him, stroking him up and down; it doesn’t take long for him to get fully erect.  I continue stroking him until he moves to settle between my thighs.  He rubs his ever ready erection along my wet folds before he thrusts into my aching core, causing me to moan loudly. He starts moving faster, thrusting into me, “Harder,” I moan, causing him to moan before he starts thrusting harder and harder into me.

I lean up capturing his lips with mine as I meet him thrust for powerful thrust until we are both panting.  We both collapse with him behind me holding me tightly
against his chiseled body.

Not sure how long I s
lept, but I wake up and try to figure out where I am, then I realize I’m in my bed. Moving to grab my cell phone, to check the time, “What the hell?” I ask as I realize I’m naked.  I look beside me to find a sleeping Liam.  Pulling up the covers, I see his naked ass.  I hop out of bed grabbing a pair of yoga pants and a shirt, throwing them on quickly as I make my way to the living room. “What the hell did I do last night?” I say to myself, trying to recall what the fuck happened.  After twenty minutes of trying to figure it out, I give up and decide to get some more rest as I fall back to sleep on the couch.

A while later I’m woken up by Liam, “Hey, why are you sleeping on the couch?” he asks as he takes a seat on the chair.

“Oh, because you fell asleep last night, I mean this morning and I didn’t want to wake you.”

“Did I complain about it being hot in here?” he asks
, looking confused.

“No why?” I ask feeling lost.

“Oh, no reason.”

“Are you sure?” I ask with a
confused look.

“I must have gotten hot at some point
, because I woke up naked.  Then again, it’s pretty damn warm in here now too.”

“Are you getting sick?” I ask playing it off, hoping we didn’t sleep together.  I remember parts of it, but I thought it was a dream.  I know we both had lack of sleep, but could we have had sex and neither of us remember it?

“I don’t think so,” he says as he stands up to adjust the thermostat, “It is warm in here, I’m not crazy.  It should cool off now,” he says as he takes a seat.

“Okay.”

“Hails, do you think we can be friends or at least try to get along when we are around one another?” he asks softly.

“Yes.”

“I’m serious,” he says with a stern look.

“I know and I’m saying we can.  It’s not like we’re really going
to see each other anyway,” I state truthfully.

“What do you mean?”

“I’m here in Michigan, you’re in Minnesota, I’m going to London in May for the summer, so I probably won’t see you until next year around this time,” I admit.

“Shit,” he says running his hands through his hair.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, just thinking.
You’re right, we won’t see each other, but when we do, can we try to be civil?”

“Yes.”

“Good.”

“Did you drive here all by yourself last night?”

“Yeah.”

Why did you come by yourself?”

Because Brody wasn’t ready to go.”

“So you left him there?” I ask surprised.

“Yeah.  You shouldn’t have driven that late at night by yourself.”

“I was fine.  Where’s Nina?” I ask confused.

“You left because you were pissed off at me and she’s at my parent’s house,” he says like it’s nothing.”

“You’re right
, I was pissed off.  You just left her there?” I ask surprised.”

“It’s fine; she knows what’s going on.”

“What’s going on?” I say confused.

With the house, Haley, what I said was wrong last night.  This house isn’t stupid, I was wrong for saying that and I’m sorry,” he says looking apologetic.

“No this house isn’t stupid. I do love this ho
use and at one point so did you,” I remind him.

“You’re right
, I did. It’s a great house and I know you love it, that’s why I was giving it to you; not as a hand out or anything like that, but because this is your house Haley.”

“Then I will buy this house from you.  You aren’t giving me anything,” I say standing firm.

“The house is already paid off.”

“Then I will make payments to you.  The internship I’m doing this summer is a paid internship, and I have money saved.”

“Haley, I don’t want your money,” he says sounding frustrated.

“That’s the only way I will take this house.  Either you sell it to me or you will be taking it back.  What’s it going to be?” I ask sternly.

“Fine, I’ll sell you the house for $1.00 then,” he says looking completely serious.

“No, it’s worth more than that.  I will
buy the house for the same price you purchased it for.”

“Not a chance,” he says looking pissed.

“Then you are going to be taking your house back.”

“No I’m not, how about
a hundred dollars?  I’m not taking any more than that Haley, so you might as well agree to it.”

“Fine,” I say
frustrated as I grab my purse and pull out my checkbook.

“You don’t need to pay me now.”

“Yes I do,” I say as I write the check out to Liam Masters for one hundred dollars. “Here you go,” I say as I hand him the check.  He’s reluctant, but takes the check anyway.  “When do you have to head back?”

“I don’t.  My season’s over for this year.”

“So, what are you going to do now?”

“Enjoy the break and visit some friends.”

“That sounds like fun,” I say.

“Yeah, it sucks the seasons over, but what
ever, there’s always next year,” he says like it’s no big deal.

“How do you like Minnesota?”

“I don’t,” he says quickly, which causes me to laugh.

Where would you rather be?”

“I’m grateful the team picked me up, but I wish I was somewhere warmer.”

“It’s cold here too and you played football here.”

“It was different here, I loved this school.  This is where
I dreamed of going to college and I did.”

“You’re still a big name around here.”

“I bet,” he says with a sexy smirk.

“Smug shit.”

“No I’m not, I’m being realistic.  I helped the team and we won last year, which speaks volumes,” he says excitedly.

“Yeah
, that’s true,” I admit.

“How’s it
going for you?”

“It’s better now,” I admit.

What do you mean?” he asks with a look.

“Really…like you don’t know already.
I know you talk to people here.”

“True, but what are you talking about, what happened?”
he asks, looking like he has no idea what happened.

“The first few months sucked, but eventually the rumors and shit stopped.”

“What rumors?” he asks looking thoroughly lost.

“On why we ended and what type of person I was.  Like I said
, it sucked, but eventually they stopped.”

I’m glad they stopped.”

“Yeah, now I’m good and back to loving school here.”

“How’s the sorority going?” he asks changing subjects.

“Great, it’s a hous
e full of good girls this time,” I say arrogantly.

“I hear you.  I am sorry about what Meg did
to you, you have to know that,” he says looking sincere.

“I know and you didn’t have any part in that
, so let it go.  It’s not your fault.”

“Okay
good, just wanted to make sure,” he says looking relieved.

It’s fine and things worked out the way they were supposed to,” I say just as Liam’s phone starts ringing.
