THE CHURCH HAD
the air conditioning cranking to combat the hot July heat, but it did nothing to cool me down. Wasn’t there a saying about being as nervous as a whore in church? Was that my problem? I didn’t feel allergic to weddings anymore after all the ones we attended the past few months.

Gram kicked off the weddings in April in the botanical gardens of her retirement community. Jack and Liam were next in May and were followed by Ben and Xavier in June at the same church that Gray and Chase got married. The same church I was standing in and sweating like I had just walked through hell. The same church where I adjusted my fucking bowtie for the tenth fucking time. I couldn’t swear out loud, not only because I was in a church, but because I had little ears around me almost all of the time. I didn’t want to be struck down by lightning before Miller would legally become mine. I didn’t want to swear in front of the kids because I wanted to set a good example for them.

I was going to legally adopt Lucas and Lily once we returned from our honeymoon so that our family of four would become official in the eyes of the law. I was just as excited about that as I was the wedding
. Married!
I, Jagger Jackson of confirmed Bachelorville, was about to take the plunge and I couldn’t have been happier. My nerves came from the scary thought that Miller had come to his senses and was on his way with the pool boy to Cabo San Lucas instead of me.

There was a knock on the door followed by girlish giggles. “Are you ready to marry us, Uncle Jag?”

I strolled over to the door and pulled it open. “Yes!” I did the happy Lily dance to demonstrate my happiness. “Are you ready to be the prettiest flower girl in the whole world?” I asked her. Lily’s answer was a ballerina twirl, which I took as a “yes.” I looked up and saw Miller and Lucas heading our way. Miller took my breath away every time I looked at him and seeing him in a tuxedo was a beautiful sight to behold. My nerves faded immediately when I saw him smile happily.

He stopped in front of me and gave me a quick kiss. “Told you I’d show up.” I might have expressed my concern the previous night when we were separated because it was bad luck for the grooms to see each other or some stupid shit.

“You’re not supposed to kiss me until
after
we’re married,” I teased.

“I’ve never been one to follow the rules too closely.” Miller leaned closer so that only I could hear what he had to say. It wouldn’t have mattered, because the kids were impatiently walking to the double doors that we needed to walk through to enter the church. “We don’t have a pool so therefore we don’t have a pool boy to run away with to Cabo.”

“I didn’t say it was
our
pool boy,” I corrected him. “I said it was
a
pool boy. Several of our neighbors have pools and you might’ve run off with one of their pool boys.” It was the oddest conversation to have before we said our vows to commit ourselves to one another in front of our friends and family. But, when had we ever done things the normal way? Never! We marched to our own beat and ignored anyone who didn’t approve. What we had worked for us and that was all that mattered. “I love you, Bones. I can’t wait to make you mine.”

“Wait!
I’m
going to make
you
mine,” he counted.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out a quarter. “Want to flip for it?”

The End!

First, I have to acknowledge my amazing family for their constant love and support. My husband is an incredible man who supports me at every turn. My kids are also very engaged and supportive in my writing. My dad never fails to tell me how proud he is that I took a risk and followed my dreams. I am a very blessed woman.

I have to thank my three closest friends, Anne, Deena, and Kerry. They put up with a lot and never complain. There are random texts asking which one of my character gets a pierced nipple, lip, or dick. They never fail to cheer me on, pick me up, and love me unconditionally. I love you girls!!

Next, I want to thank my editor, Pam Ebeler, of Undivided Editing. Pam wears many hats when she edits a book. She goes beyond picking out misspelled words and misplaced commas. She comes at your book with a reader’s eye and is excellent at making suggestions that make a story stronger. Thank you for all that you do. Love ya!

I’d like to thank the two ladies who make my books look so good. Jay Aheer of Simply Defined Art does amazing custom cover art for books. The attention to detail is second to none and she is a rock star! Stacey Blake of Champagne Formats does a phenomenal job with the interior design of books. I love the look and feel of my books after she has formatted them. With both of these amazing ladies, I tell them the basics of the book and turn them loose and let them work their magic. I appreciate your talent and professionalism very much, ladies. Thank you!!

Finally, I want to thank the people I chose to beta read my book and provide feedback. I will call them Aimee’s ARC angels and they are Anne Cook, Kerry Simpson, Jason McDonald, Jodie Temple, Chris Owens, Kim Hay, and Laurel Looney. I appreciate very much your honest feedback and encouragement. Thank you!!

I am a wife and mother of three living near Cincinnati. When I’m not dreaming up stories, I love to read, watch sports, bake, and cook. Love inspires everything that I do. Music keeps me sane.

I’d love to hear from you.
